The black rubber bands always break when using them making the style completely impossible..is there any special rubber band I can use?

Love your tutorials. Tried to crochet braid, I was having a difficult time. But this one seems fairly easy. Starting to get discouraged.
Omg. In love with this technique. I miss my long hair and I've been wanting to do box braids. I was intimidated by typical techniques because my hair is so short, I didn't think I could get the braiding hair to stay on my roots. The rubber band takes care of that. PLUS, no need for a crochet needle, which is good since I don't have those tools.
I have always done my own braids but you showing this rubberband method and crochet method makes doing it so much easier! Now there is no debating with myself on whether I want to do it or not lol! Thank you 😍
