  • Hey babies, get in here! We're braiding our hair ourselves today! Have you ever done box braids on yourself before? If not, you're gonna wanna watch this video!
    In this video, I show you how to braid your own hair using the rubberband method. My natural TWA is very short, so I struggled initially trying to grip it. But in this video, I walk you through how to successfully grip the hair, how to style your braids and how to maintain them. I also share 9 TIPS that I wish someone had shared with me before I tried to braid my own hair. I hope you enjoy the video!

      @loveglam I saw you said not to section off big sections in the back....... I have a very small head and I'm trying braids but my hair is very thin in the back so I'm tempted to section off big sections but I don't want them to come out too tight or loose.....is there a specific reason not to section off big sections?? I'm trying to make sure I don't do anything wrong since now I'm progressing to the back of my head ☺️

    • @RalOnyes
      @RalOnyes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sexitreatz hey love! Great question. I had said not to section out the back really big because my hair is very thick and short at the back. So the big sections didn’t blend well with the braiding hair until I started sectioning the smaller sections. So if your hair is thinner and longer, you can get away with bigger sections at the back. But if it’s thin and short, then a medium section will suffice so it doesn’t get loose. Hope that helps. Happy braiding☺️

    Actually the synthetic hair has a chemical and it causes an allergic reaction in a lot of people... So that's why it is good to rinse first. I buy a brand that is pre stretched, pre detangled and pre rinsed I love it and it is super cheap

    LOVED THIS! great job girl. Im deff gonna try your parting method. I do the rubber band method as well. I found that doing all of the rubber-bands first and then sectioning the hair in 4 quarters makes the process so much faster.

      @RalOnyes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you beautiful!! And I'll definitely try sectioning the hair into 4 quarters next time cuz I found that doing the rubberband row by row was better for me and didn't overwhelm me.

    Owww sweetie, the patience and work you have put in, I admire you so much!!!!!! I am disabled and have very sparse and thin hair and I have to wear wigs or caps or hats all the time and I know that many people don't like braids on everyone, I just have learned over the years that pre-braided twisted braids are fir me the best solution in summer as I can put it up and leave it up for longer periods and sleep with it up, I also work a long time on the parting of my own hair and I have not even a wave, but really very sleek hair, though it holds elastic, the braids are premade so I can just hook it and loop it, pull and it's in, I must say, I was blown away watching you doing this, I have subscribed right away as I think you are so beautiful, also before the braids and makeup, you are so nice and awesome, I can't get over how great you made this look, fantastic!!!!!!!!

    Girl I just took my rubber band method braids out. And I 1, did my rubber bands too tight and 2. I REALLY wish I had soaked the hair before doing it. Girrrrrl I wore them 2.5 weeks and they had to go. But I’m giving my hair a week off to relax my scalp and I’m putting them back in because now I know better!

      Omg the rubberband annoyed you? I found it to be soo easy for me! At first, I thought that I would feel it afterwards but I legit don't feel anything at all and my braids are secured. I absolutely loved it! But braiding without it works too! I just knew I had to use it cuz my hair was pretty short. And yeah definitely try the ACV! It'll change your life because sis that itch will drive anyone crazy!! I'm happy to be back to it too! Thanks love ❤️

    I heard them say Xpressions were dipping their braids in something.
    Apple Cider Vinegar is used for deep cleaning like when they use it to rinse dreadlocks so I guess It's cleans off the coat of whatever it is.
    I had that burning itch on my scalp last year and had to removed my braids until I learned other people were experiencing the same thing.

      Yes she is beautiful and so is her hair. I was trying to figure out the purpose of crocheting the piece in between the rubber band.

    Didn’t think to oil the rubber bands, I just oiled my scalp, hopefully the oil will get to the bands

    • @RalOnyes
      @RalOnyes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah oiling the bands help with it not drying out your hair nor scalp as well as not breaking on you while your braids are in.

  • @tcportis7542

    Your hair looks beautiful! What’s the purpose of crocheting the braid into the rubber band instead of braiding around the rubber band? Hope that makes sense.

    • @RalOnyes
      @RalOnyes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know I’m mad late responding to this🙈 But it’s to help anchor the braid so it doesn’t slip out especially if your hair is short like mine. Because if you just braid around without having a longer “hair piece aka the crochet piece in the rubber band” to hold onto, it’ll slip and that’s how you’ll end up with your braids falling out. Hope this helps. And thanks girlie🤎
