Great performance! The soloist's interpretation of the first movement cadenza and the second movement's main theme in particular are tasteful and sensitive

Cecil Forsyth wrote a great orchestration book, an erudite, witty and insightful work. And, unlike many a composer, modestly refrained from including any of his own works as examples.

Great piece and performance. Funny that Cecil Forsyth, in his orchestration book, as sounding like a duck!

All those crotchets moving like quavers..... another 'Shostakovich' wannabe-composer in the 20th century?? Hard to follow in my opinion...

imitating Shostakovich in 1903? Very impressive time-travelling skills, considering shosty wouldn't be born for another three years

@@tobiaszeller4323 I'm not being sarcastic in any way here, but thanks for pointing that out. I was under the impression that Forsyth was around/and composed years after Shostakovich..... I was lead to believe this by two parties: one, my university lecturers (so.... do they owe me and my peers part of my/our $60 000 back?) and two: world class viola soloists who speak of him [in interviews] as if he (Forsyth) died in the last two decades.....

Apologies again for making this mistake. I might've been confused since I've performed the 8th Quartet of Shostakovich (viola part) many times before "discovering" Mr Forsyth, and researched a LOT about [Shostakovich and his amazing life] yet somehow forgot exactly when he was born!!! Whoops. If a colleague hadn't mentioned Cecil Forsyth to me then I may (never have learned about him)!
