Lance Henriksen's voice is pure gold

Lance's voice: not bad - for a human.
Just finished the audible script. Henricksen and Beihn reprising their roles totally did it for me. This story should have been canon.
For those who hated Alien 3, this alternate take is right up your alley.
The plot takes a few interesting turns and adds something new to the Mythos.
Other human factions outside of Weyland or Seegson, the Alien reproduction cycle and oh yeah, Hicks and Newt made it out alive!
Good voice acting, including a convincing sex scene, sound effects from the films and characters you can root for. Also space commies are awesome and I hope they make a return in future Alien audible productions.
My only slight is that Ripley and her voice actress get little play in this. You can see why they added the ending of Aliens as a prologue to this one, loved Lauren in Out of the Shadows so hearing her again is just pure unbridled joy.
Shout outs for Hicks and Bishop reprising their roles, hearing these two intract with each other is amazing. Like two old friends or veterans.
This is a feature length production so it's like you are listening to a film.
Highly recommend this for Alien fans.
What about people like me, who love Alien 3? Would I like it?
@@HOTD108_ It's a good alternative universe I admit but tone wise it's vastly different from Alien 3 we got. Where the film version was quite bleak and stark, this one ends in a hopeful note. Give it a lesson though, who knows it might be up your alley.

What made Hicks likeable was 50% James Cameron writing of that character and 50% of brilliant delivery of Michael Biehn. Biehn being modest about himself is ok, but he did a great job as an actor. And remember that he was a last minute replacement for a different actor in that role.
I had the pleasure to work with Michael Biehn in the TV series “Adventure Inc.” back in the 90s. He was everything I expected him to be. What a great guy.👍🏽
@@skinwolf Awesome - he was one of my "big brother" heroes growing up in the 80s. I think he was underrated or under used but then again, he starred in Terminator, Aliens, Abyss (great bad guy), Tombstone and an important part in The Rock...so he must be good if he was in all of that and we still want more of him or for him to get the starring role in a big picture. Just a very relatable solid dude who can be vulnerable, tough and warm.
Yes, James Remar was cast as Corporal Dwayne Hicks in Aliens (1986) but was fired after two weeks of filming. He was replaced by Michael Biehn due to drug problems and arrest. And Michael had a history with James Cameron from Terminator where he played Kyle Reese…..
It’s Awesome to have all the great characters back who survived from Aliens. This is how it should have been. Killing off Hicks and Newt after everything that had happened in Aliens was a mistake. The film franchise went down hill after that. Henricksen and Biehn are awesome.
Says one persons opinion. I personally prefer the darker approach to alien 3. It speaks about the time... 1993 was very dark. Gothic imagery; Counter culture; Grunge music. It’s what it was and anyone wanting to retcon or forget about three needs to realize not every piece of art is FOR YOU specifically. Get over it.

The bleakness of Alien 3 is what makes it a great and beautiful film. Sorry but not all stories have happy endings.

This audio book is so damned good! This audio dramatisation is the closest thing to a movie you will ever get, with sound effects that lets you visualise exaclty what is going on, where they are, hell even the surfaces they are walking on.
I listened to this a few months ago… it was brilliant!
It would be cool if someone made an animated version of this to go along with this performance.

In all honesty, Lance Henriksen is among the most underrated actors alive. His work on Millennium, even in otherwise forgettable episodes, is some of the finest I've seen on any screen.
LOVE this audiobook. Best of the scripts imo. Hope they do a sequel audio drama...

Man it's so sad to think about what Alien 3 could have been had they adapted Gibsons screenplay, so happy that Audible did this and even got Biehn and Henriksen to reprise their roles.
What would’ve been better:
If ALIEN³ were two parts long and takes place in two separate but connected stories, both this unused story (with Hicks) and the final 1992 version (with Ripley); by the end of the film, Hicks becomes part of the rescue team and tries but fails to rescue Ripley who sacrifices herself.
(Also, Bishop and Newt live.)

I think Alien 3 Directed by David Fincher was a piece of art, larger than just an action movie, much people didnt apreciate it, but its clearly a masterpiece.
The script failed because, i think, there was nothing to be "saved" there was not a colony of people or something a common person could relate to, there was just a bunch of assasins in a space jail, so that immediately take away any kind of emotional conection, in short, it didnt matter if they all died at the hands of that beast, and that from the very beginning takes away the stress factor wich is vital in a story like this.
Alien 3 is a piece of accidental art. It works as an amazing piece of avant garde depressive expressionism. A bleak, nihilistic film with a rustic yet industrial look. Its the child that nobody wanted, but yet it tells a chilling story about the struggles of the righteous in a cold empty universe where their faithful cries fall on the deaf ears of an uncaring and absent god.
At least some people get it.
I like 3, got a lot of love for it.
It was an interesting time in the early 90s in the build-up to Alien 3's release, and even though I would've only been 8 years old, it was -everywhere- promotion wise. Aliens had pretty much inspired a generation of computer games prior to that (and still does to this day, really) so when 3 was released it went into exposure overdrive: the Mega Drive / SNES games. The action figures. The newspaper promotions. The comics. The 'Alien 3: The Gun' game that could still be found in Llandudno pier's Arcade well into the 2000s. It was a brilliant time to be an 8 year old.
And yet 3 was much maligned. I mean, now that I've seen it, I can understand why: people wanted an Aliens sequel that suited the guns blazing narratives of the accompanying computer games, comics and action figures. It's not that film. Still love it, though.
I disagree with that stock argument. The prisoners are anti-heroes looking for redemption in a forgotten wasteland in space. Anybody who has ever done anything wrong in life do relate to these prisoners because a lot of us are seeking redemption.
@@GetToDaChoppa-k5r From the beginning they are presented as Prisoners: murderers, rapists, etc. Then, they try to RAPE Rypley, and the context of the scene suggests that shes going to be raped by a GROUP of men. Now, in order to be ok with your view, we would have to live in a world were everybody is just Ok with the idea of raping a woman in a group. You must understand that most of people, including myself, are not agree with that idea, even less women who saw this film. In our society sexual violence against women is a theme fully charged with negative emotions, trauma and pain. I can see your point on Redemption, but i think its too difficult to fit that into a Space Action movie.
I think that if this version Alien ³ had been realized, it would surely have triumphed becoming a hit at the time. I think the Fox executives and producers were complete stupid and blind in having rejected this extraordinary script, Ridley Scott or James Cameron had directed this film and would have done an excellent job turning it into another masterpiece like the first two films. He would have earned more money at the box office than the other Alien 3 version won and he had concluded in a successful trilogy or tetralogy. In addition, I also really liked the idea of putting Hicks and Bishop as the two film stars played by Michael Biehn and Lance Henriksen, would have been similar to the film "Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw" But with aliens, I even think that the carees of both actors Michael Biehn and Lance Henriksen would have taken off and climbed as foam. And if David Fincher had made this script it would have been his biggest directorial debut. It's just my opinion.

During the 80's I always thought he was Optimus Prime only to find out years laters that is was Peter Cullen. He would've been an excellent substitute.
I finally listened to this audio drama, i wish it was longer. It's so weird seeing an alternative verison of Alien 3.

THIS WAS THE Version Most of us Expected as a TRUE Alien 3 Sequel,After Listening and reading the comic book,AND JUST SO THANKFUL TO Henrikson And Biehn for bring it to life.
I've always said that the ending of "Aliens" sets up 'Alien 3' & other sequels to be nothing but a dream. Newt asks Ripley if they can dream while they're inside the hibernation chambers. And she answers 'Yes'. Basically, the events of 'Alien 3', Alien Resurrection' were nothing but Ripley dreaming those events. A sequel can be made with the original actors awakening after being found drifting in space for many decades. Ripley and the others are older. Newt grew up. Lance also has aged as well. The sequel can explain that by saying that an aging process was included in his model to make him more natural to the crew. If not, they can always make him look younger using cgi. But I rather they use the actual actor. The setting for the sequel could have them seek out the original planet of the aliens. Something that Sigourney wanted to see happen. And it's something that Alien Covenant failed to achieve.
Right, and Aliens set up that Ripley already had nightmares earlier in the film.
Well if something like this was to be made de-aging technology would have to be used for all three main actors until a time jump 20-30 years later could pick up the story. I think bishop would have to be a motion capture cgi character with Hendricksons voice there's no way around the actor being in his 80's now. Maybe bishops brain is transferred into another more basic android or something. It would of been interesting to see what Blomkamp's idea for alien 5 would of been. I reckon he would of done something radical with the bishop character like that.

My theory is that it would all be reinterpreted as Ripley's dream. everything happens at the moment of the comic that takes Gibson's deleted script, at the moment when Ellen jumps on the intruders who board her ship and anesthetize her, it is then that a dream begins that is actually the events of the Alien film version 3, from there the inexplicable situations would be explained, that is to say, being a dream, this explains the egg already inside the ship, the loss of his companions, the death of Newt when he failed in his attempt to save her, the illogical reason why which a facehugger is still alive after having put an embryo in a living being, the prison in fiorina "fury 161" would be the penalty or sentence that the destruction of the ship in Alien: the eighth passenger receives for his past charges and the HOPE colony. The xenomorph and the queen who follow her as an imminent and unstoppable threat. the appearance of Bishop, her creator but who was actually another android as a metaphor for what she experienced firsthand with Ash. The absurd death (absurd due to the fact that at the moment of the queen's birth, the pain should be unbearable but she resists it and takes the creature with both hands) that is when she wakes up from her dreams. For the rest there it is clear that it is a movie if we remove the facts of alien resurrection.
Really enjoyed this one! Great voice acting, sound effects and a good plot. Hope we see more of the UPP in a future production!

My fiancé isn’t a science fiction fan but she loves these films and this audio is amazing. I loved the Dark Horse comic.
I've always loved the Alien 3 movie, but this is still pretty great as a non-canon alternate story.
I watched Alien³ a few hours ago for the first time. I watched the Assembly Cut - I think it is called. And I liked it in a way. But not that much. Which edition do you think it's better? I read that the one that I saw it was close to what David Fincher wanted to do in first place than the theatrical version.

After all of Ripley's heroics while trying to save Newt, the kid would've been most certainly sucked into the void of space, if Bishop would not have grabbed her, all the while being half destroyed himself!
Also, Bishop very honestly informed Ripley that Burke instructed to take the alien specimen to the company labs
then Bishop crawled thru the tunnel
remote piloted the ship
hovered the ship around when the platform got too unstable
and also complimented Ripley for her courage
He was almost at the level of Arnie's Terminator in Judgement Day.

I loved this audio drama!
I see alot of people complaining that there wasn't enough Ripley, remember Sigourney Weaver didn't want to play the character again at this point, this could have been a third movie, it would be fine to have her cameo and we could still have the actual Alien 3 movie we got with some slight changes, as Ripley is sent off alone instead of killing the other characters, making it a forth movie all about her, which would make up for lack of her in this version.
Then carry on, resurrection could have been alien 5 etc etc.
This could have worked in my opinion.
And this more airborne version of the xeno and its way of gestation was basically used and imo, not done aswell in prometheus and Alien covenant anyway.

I really preferred this story to what we got for for Alien 3 yet we have both and the expanded universe in comics and novels. So it's a win-win to me👌
I honestly think it would of been cool if the weyland yutani company played a bigger role in an alien installment and have ripley and hicks dealing with the company and possible getting revenge on them for everything that happened to their friends while also having xenomorph action in there as well!

It would be interesting to see an animated movie done of this story.
Aliens fan since '79 and after the greatness of Aliens I was completely disappointed with Alien 3. Would not purchase it for years. I have likely only watched it three times hoping my feelings would change on the movie but did not happen. What disgusted me about the movie so much is what happened during the opening credits. Hicks and Newt who struggled to survive so much in Aliens were killed off in their sleep. I was appalled and almost walked out of the theater on that first viewing because I knew I was not going to enjoy the rest of the movie.
It pissed me off too. After that titantic struggle to survive, Hicks and Newt die anyway; the fight for their lives was all for naught. Wtf. But, I had to watch it for Ripley's sake...and then, she's killed off too. Jeez. I guess the writers stopped taking their antideppressents.
I need more, give me more!
Lance's larnyx is actually an organism from the planet Qo'Ar-7, his former voice was high pitched and nasal.

Oh, I sort of dismissed the Audible bit on the end of the title and though it was gonna be another film, or maybe a Netflix short series or something. Wishful thinking I suppose...
Does sound great though. Surprised it took this long to make. I remember reading a while back about another film picking up where it left off from Aliens, Neil Blomkamp was making it, and Ripley, Hicks, Newt and Bishop were all gonna be in it. Shame it never happened.

This story wouldn't have made for a satisfying third film. Who really wanted to see the main character of the first two films reduced to a cameo? That said, it might have made for a good fourth film if Alien 3 had written out the other survivors of Aliens _without_ killing them. For example, perhaps not every cryotube had to be connected to Ripley's ejected EEV, thus allowing Hicks and Bishop to stay aboard the Sulaco in blissfully ignorant hypersleep until the inevitable sequel. (As for Newt, she is quickly written out of Gibson's story anyway, so she might as well just end up with her fate from Alien 3. Carrie Henn was always going to be too old to reprise the role.)

I found the screenplay online when I was working at Netflix’s old call center in Hillsboro, OR back in 2012. I read it and thought “why didn’t they make this movie?” I put this into the cultural zeitgeist, you’re welcome everyone 😂 The Dark Horse comic adaptation is great too.

I will try and find this. I was extremely disappointed in what they did with Alien3. I had a feeling at the time it was not what was originally conceived, story wise.
I think it's really easy for Lance Henriksen and Michael Biehn to have fallen in love with this project considering how screwed Bishop and Hicks were screwed over in the actual film.
Please make more alien novels into audio dramas, cold forge and into charybdis
Alien 3 ? Yup they did make a third movie but to me it didn’t have the shock n awe of 1st and 2nd movies those were the best ever out of all 4 movies

Sure I wish there was a different one out there where Hudson and Vasquez survived with Hicks, vs Ripley. Could you imagine if all 4 with Bishop had survived? Man what a nut buster of a movie that would be. That said Hicks was my favorite of the Marine group, followed by Hudson and Vasquez. That said it great to have Hicks back in the game! They need to keep making these! Maybe on day they can clone Hudson and Vasquez to reunite with Hicks. That would be great... Still they need to trash the alien movies, and start again from Alien 3. Add the Predator Element into the mix, and then we have the makings of several different series here!

Thank You Mr.Gibson. Your script should've been the one in theaters, not the pile of shit that we saw back in the 90s. Ellen Ripley is my namesake and this script is humbling to me. I believe that the franchise should've ended with ALIENS, but if this was the sequel to it I would've been satisfied. This is Ripley, signing off.
Great story, but I can see why they skipped making it, hardly any Ripley and the sets would have cost a lot.
The story actual blends very well with the genetics in Prometheus, would have loved to have seen this made.

Biehn sounds much more energized than he was in Aliens: Colonial Marines
To be fair, Biehn was supposed to play a depressed and broken Hicks. His performance reflected that.

1 was scary, 2 was not really Alien, but action packed. 3 was space aids. 4 was weird. All films after were odd.

Sigourney Weaver and her political obsession destroyed this franchise when she demanded a stake for Aliens. That's why 3 was cancer and the rest dragged their feet. It's also why the franchise has changed to new names and similar themes, to avoid her draconian anti gun moonbat crazy.
There was all of the guns in Alien: Resurrection and it was still dogshit.
Alien 3 is the best Alien movie of the franchise as is. The Naysayers are just cowards.

I read that script. It completely changed the biology of the xenomorphs and the way they reproduce through hosts. In Gibson's script there was no longer any gestation with chestburster; it became basically a zombie movie where the "host" gets "infected" by the xenomorphs, and then the host transforms into an alien. And it's essentially instantaneous.
It sucked.
I honestly felt that this version was too slow paced. Honestly, I would've just used Fincher's script but made two changes.
1. Newt survives the EEV crash and stays in cryosleep for the duration of the film.
This way her rescue isn't in vain but she can still be absent from the film's dark atmosphere.
2. The runner is replaced with an alien that is larger and more aggressive than the Queen.
This way, you can keep it as one alien while also raising the stakes.
