  • We are asked multiple times per day what is the difference between our Workhorse Pits 1975 and our sister company Babe. Both are 24" diameter smokers burning plus or minus five degrees. JD breaks it down a little better in this video.

    Highly recommend a visit here people. I cancelled my Franklin Pits and picked up my 1969 in August. What an incredible piece of work and I am so happy with how easy it is to use.

    I bought the 1975T workhorse pit after researching Franklins pit, moberg pit, millscale and all the above, settled with JD and workhorse pit, this is not figuratively speaking, I know a very good welder who has looked over this pit and is literally unbelievably well built and the draw is out of this world. The delivery service was awesome the man Robert treated us very well, great service

    I'm wondering if/looking for whether there are any other brands that have small order batches like the babe. There's a huge variety of plain old offsets but are there unique smokers being built and released in a similar fashion to the babe?

    Where can I find steel pipe to make my own smoker. I’ve checked out places that sell Metal in Lexington Kentucky and no one seems to have the new pipe I’m looking for for the cooking chamber or fire box.

    I have the WH 1975 on order. I would love to see "beefy" legs on these smokers, would give it that extra sturdy/tough look. Other than that I can't wait!

      Theron I'm looking looking looking. Probably just like you did. How long do you think the wait is? What others did you look at? What were some keys to your decision to pull the trigger on the workhorse? Thanks in advance!

      @@WookieLove1 My production estimate is the end of Dec., so I figured the first week in Jan it will be ready to be picked up. I looked at a lot but the main three were, Workhorse, Shirley Fab, and Lonestar Grillz. The decision can down to the steel thickness and cost. 3/8th steel throughout is very impressive and not found on any others. 1/4 is usually the best with a 1/2 firebox upgrade. I've never seen one in person but everything a read about the draw was all positive and that is needed in an offset for sure. Good luck with your decision.

      @@tmalone893 Much appreciated. I've looked at many, many makers and the workhorse looks incredible. And it's the closet to me to go pick up. Anyway, I hope you make a video in January! !

    Hey JD I've seen quite a few of your videos and I'm hoping maybe you can answer a few questions for me about the 1975 I'm having a lot of trouble finding information about it online or in any of the Facebook barbecue groups for that matter. Pretty sure I sent you a DM on Facebook but maybe you haven't seen it yet

      Hi Mike, I'd steer you to customercare@workhorsepits.com JD gets so many messages and people attempt to reach him via his social media, I don't believe he is very active on social media. We are a pretty busy organization and I'd suggest emailing through the Customer Care channels. If the questions are beyond any of the technical team, they will bring JD in. Thanks! Nick

    Only one you issues why in the world 🌎 you can cut the one inch lower make bottom shelf slide to ?
    And from fire box to cook chamber putting half inch lip so the grease won’t drip and firebox ?

    • @williemakeit7185
      @williemakeit7185 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 90 day wait is nothing. These guys have their wait time months, even years less than some of their competition and they are way busier than I assumed. I cancelled my Franklin smoker and went with them and I've been extremely happy with the purchase.

    How come the workhorse is less expensive but thicker metal. Are you paying for the look of the primitive pits ?

    • @WorkhorsePits
      @WorkhorsePits  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Primitive takes a week longer to build. It is very labor intensive. Also it's just not as good of a buy as a Workhorse Pits ; ) I know, I know we are owned by the same guy, but 20 out of 25 employees have a Workhorse ; )
