#Brian He got fresh veggies and a starch. However, I do not trust random bread. It can sometimes contain dairy, egg or dough softener. #Jessica She stayed within a smaller budget and managed to get all actual whole foods.
I think the clear winner is your TH-cam channel. You both teamed up to prove that you can find great wfpb snackable options and even more substantial meal options at a random gas station. Great vid!
Jessica gets the edge for “whole food” but Brian gets points for creativity. As a team, you found a very reasonable meal option for “on the road” days. And Jessica’s mom gets major points for a really clever video idea! ❤️
I agree here, while the rules were not about quantity, I think the sandwich #Brian made was a great idea! Great job to both of you guys - you're awesome
I visit my brother in that area and was actually surprised you found that many items. Way to go guys! Price wise #Jessica More balanced meal #Brian Best at standing on his head #Peef
You guys are darling, I love following you as I found you about 6 months ago and have been hooked ever since! I'm so inspired by your weight loss story and engagement story too. I even find out about alternative music bands that I've never heard of before since I'm a boring, empty-nester mom at 58 yo. This was such a fun contest!! A great big thank-you to Jessica's mom for this idea--- I had no idea you could find such healthy things in a gas station! The green beans (yes, I love those since I grew up on canned Green Bean casserole--I know its not the healthiest way to eat green beans, but with the holidays, I'll be making that casserole WFPB, no salt this year). I can't pick a winner--I say you tied--I was surprised by Jessica's green beans & raw almonds and Brian's made-to-order sandwich & applesauce (like a dessert if you are tempted by the candy aisles but want to stay away away from the candy!). I hope you guys tie--you were both sooo good at finding unique, healthy WFPB options that will help all of us when we're in a pinch! Since I don't get on Facebook or Instagram, I had to write all of this here. If you ever vacation west, put Colorado Springs on your itinerary and I'd love to meet you, show you some of the prettiest scenery & good eats . Hugs to Peef too for always being a good sport! Good Luck with the vote!!!!
#Brian gets my vote too... Far too many times over the years, I've heard of/experienced the horror of gone-off, or half-fermented fruit that *looked* just fine in one of those roadside clamshells... And mmm... mustard, olives, mushrooms, and spinach, etc. on a fresh sandwich... Yum!
Okay... So I'm voting first by products: Green Beans - 😲 (too much sodium) Fruit bowl - ✔ Almonds - ✔ Apple Sauce - 😲 (texture thing) Sandwich - ✔ Pistachios - 😑 (too hard to overeat) Winner: Jessica! (BUT the sandwich would be my first personal pick! LOL) Love you guys! Great video!
Laughing at 😂😂😂😂 "it's got that green bean smell", as Brian looks at that can, after eating a sub!! LoL 😂 In all honesty, Jessica had the healthiest stuff and Brian, your selections would send me down cravings lane, which is really a dead end. Price wise? Just buy me a couple fresh bananas and keep it moving on!! Nice video guys. Thanks Mom 😁
Jessica & Brian, you two are HONESTLY the CUTEST COUPLE I've ever seen! And yes i guess you're told that A LOT by your viewers? But truly, we can't help saying it cos you're so darn sweet, both of you together AND each of you separately. (which hardly EVER happens!) Just watching you 2 getting better looking every single video is a real inspiration! (Did you know that you guys actually kind of SPARKLE now? It's true! You have this GLOW!) But even more important than good looks is of course great health and happiness, and I'd like to thank you both for sharing yours with us. I really take motivation from watching your videos. They make me want to keep on trying, & they encourage me to take a pro-active position in my own health care. A large part of that is continuing to improve my diet - step by step, day by day, week by week, till i eat like you guys do: whole food, plant based, 100% of the time. That's my goal. I'm hoping to keep copying some of your weight loss and your rejuvenation along the way, & borrow a bit of your cheerfulness & your energy too. Now, on to my vote in your little competition. (Terrific didactic idea Mum!) Fun for us viewers to watch - all that hilarious sneaky finger pointing - but helpful snack ideas as well for our own road trips!) I'm sad to say this but I think Jessica must prepare to lose. As you yourselves said - Brian had an entire meal there! Like 3 proper courses even! I do feel its a bit of a rigged fight tho, just cos u didn't set a dollar ceiling. If you'd said there's a $10 limit so buy as MUCH plant based whole food as you can for your ten bucks, it might have been a tad more even? Regardless tho, I loved how you Jessica actually thought about getting your icky tinned green beans with a ring-pull, so its portable or car-edible or whatever. I kept waiting for you to EXPLAIN what you love about those cold canned green beans girl? Cos I'm sorry but I'm with Brian, I just don't think i could choke those suckers down! Not the whole can anyway. (and thats coming from a girl who's eaten a huge raw brown onion covered in vegemite just to win a bet. lol) Sorry I've waffled on so much, but it's YOUR fault really! I automatically talk to you guys like a friend because your videos are so honest & personal, they make me feel close to you two. That's nutty i know, but it's how i feel. Well, that's all I got! So thanks again & bye 4 now.
If you follow the rules, Jessica picked the products that were closest to WFPB. However, Brian's choices would keep you full much longer than Jessica's and very few people would pick a can of cold, mushy beans over a sandwich. By the book winner...Jessica, but the people's choice award goes to Brian.
Both did a very good job. I didn’t realize gas stations had actual food. Pistachio vs almonds. ✅Almonds win.👗. (Healthier nut and no sodium) Applesauce vs fruit bowl. ✅Fruit bowl wins. 👗. (Tastier and less processed) Green beans vs sandwich. ✅Sandwich wins. 👖. Green beans too high in sodium, and sandwich looked yummy and satisfying.) You guys are adorable and getting more adorabler (😅) every day. Keep up the great job. 👍
#Jessica Cos her fruit was way less processed and Dr Greger had a video recently saying the most nutrition in apples is in the skin. And the almonds had no added salt.
Brian for helping us think outside the norm and look at food ingredients on the label. Jessica for showing us we can get fruit, nuts and veggies at a gas station.
There wasn't a lot of choices but... there were choices which impressed me. Who would have thought you could have found items for a whole food plant-based diet in a gas station of all places?
Greetings from Australia. I love all the items Jessica had (Hers was probably more of a whole food, no oil thing). Did not like the added salt on Brian's pistachios or the fact that the apple sauce is very processed but the sandwich was great. I think its a tiebreaker. Love you both.
I think Brian won. His was more of a meal. However, I’d combine the 2. I liked his sandwich & her fruit. The pistachios are fun to eat and edged out the almonds.
You are both so thoughtful and sweet, and you both are great for showing people options for a gas station, which no one thinks of! I want to vote for you both, I love a good sub but I adore a good fruit salad! Oh the anguish, ok, I’m gonna vote for.... I just can’t. You both win, both meals would be infinitely better than stopping at a McDonalds! 💗 🍅 #Jessica and #Brian
Jessica won only because her items were closest to unprocessed Whole Foods. Brian’s choices would probably keep you fuller longer, but applesauce and bread are processed. #Jessica
I’d say #Brian won but I’d swap out the applesauce for the fruit, however the to go applesauce is a great choice for a road trip. Loved Brian’s creativity in this challenge and I liked Jessica’s straight to the point approach.
Brian for the sandwich, Jessica for the fruit, and Peef for being darn cute! You all fit together well. When Peef hangs upside down does all his magic run into his wee ears? If I have to pick one, I am team Brian. I would be more likely to eat what he bought.
I think you are. both pretty competitive but it was fun. Brian obviously won but if you combined your meals on a paper plate, you would each have half a sandwich, a huge amount of fruit, mixed nuts, and 2 applesauces, which I think would be better than what you have on your own(Jessica could have the whole can of green beans).
It’s a tie!! You guys showed me how to choose items that could make up a balanced plant based meal when traveling long distances. We usually bring food but it’s fun to stretch your legs and explore !
That´s a hard choice! I wouldn´t consider the apple sauce thing a whole food (unless maple syrup and molasses are whole foods as well) but a can of green beans really isn´t something I´d eat just like that. So... Peef wins, of course, but #Jessica comes second because of the whole food and cost combo.
The nuts cancel each other out, the sandwich cancels out the fruit bowl and the canned salt (with beans) is no worse than the bag-o-applesauce. IMHO it's a tie! ( Nice video, folks and you're both looking great.)
You really showed how tough it is to get decent food out there! I think #Brian's sandwich was the best thing of all, so I vote for him! Jessica's fruit bowl, Brian's sandwich and either bag of nuts would do me just fine! Thanks, this was fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. It was fun and entertaining. You should do a few more challenges like a highway rest stop, a movie theatre or a mall food court.
#Brian. This was a really tough call - I hate the single-serve packaging nightmare of the applesauce, but the fruit salad clamshell isn’t any better, so, the win goes to the paper-wrapped sandwich. This was a really good challenge - food on the go is a real problem. Most gas station/convenience stores don’t even have apples or bananas for sale. Good on you!
I gotta go with #Brian because 1. that sandwich was a meal and a can of green beans is not and 2. I really loathe canned green beans. Brian's face when he tasted them-- yep, I can relate. In reality, I think a combination of the two would be perfect-- sandwich with Almonds and fruit or sandwich and green beans (yuck) and fruit. I think if Brian would have went for an apple or banana instead of the apple sauce, I would say that was pretty perfect as it minimizes plastic waste and would be cheaper....overall, I think you both did really well and would love to see you do something similar for a meal while traveling. Maybe while staying in a hotel that only has a microwave? Love you guys and love this post! Great work!
We were away this weekend and I had fruit salad, a small salad of tomato, cucumber and mixed peppers (the garnish from the cheese platter) and a banana made into mush on a whole grain roll with flax seed on it. Sadly there was no oatmeal but it was a good meal. I have chosen not to choose which is best BTW. I cook green beans once a week and we reserve the excess for salads in the week.
Perhaps others should try this challenge going to a local "gas station" or in German "Tankstelle" - Martin (the Great Potato Mage) and I could cover Germany LOL.
I prefer Brian’s choices...I hate canned green beans! 🤮 So Brian is the winner from my reckoning! But Jessica you win for being so cute and always making me smile at your humming while you eat! 😊
I've spent lots of time in Oklahoma. I commend anyone who manages to find food that contains vegetables and hasn't been deep fried. I vote for #Brian because of #Jessica's green beans, but you both did great.
Your Mom wins!. For her creative idea and a tie bwtween you both for accepting the challenge and really coming up with ideas that work equally well if the need presented itself. To all I say; Bravo! Fun and interesting video! Well done!
Oe it's hard to choose between the two of you. You BOTH had great choices (p.s. Jessica: I LIKE canned green beans and used to steal them out of my mother's cupboard as a kid and eat them straight out of the can!). You have made it impossible to choose, but IF I must I will have to go for the 'least expensive' of the two. Jessica, does that equate in portion size to the same monetary ratio? Well done you guys. I may have chosen a salad and some raisins though the salad would probably have had preservatives on it. I also didn't realise that bread was an option. No, I will call it a tie because Brian is larger, he should have more volume (compensates for the price), plus his choice digests slower while Jessica's options were more delicious in my view. I call a TIE (sorry Peef) 🌹
Jessica wins on price, most visually appealing, most affordable, and most whole-foods-worthy (nothing processed or added except for the extra salt, Brian had bread which is pretty processed even if it is whole grains). Brian wins on most creative, most *overall* appealing, and most meal-worthy. That said, if it were me, I'd choose the fruit cup, the pistachios, & the squeeze pouches.
I think the sandwich is a great choice. The only problem I have with it is the added fats and salt in the bread. I suffer a lot when I start taking in a little salt here and there. So Brian for the Sandwich, and Jessica for the poptop vegis, and fruit salad. Still if I had to stick with my desire for no added oil/fats, and no added salt, I'd say the fruit salad, and the no salt or oil added almonds. Almonds are not on my MWL plan either, but I'd go for it as opposed to the bread. If I could get all those sandwich fixins in a lettuce wrap. I'd love that. So nice to see that there are options. Thank you both for this exercise. It's pretty important to plan ahead, but when you can't, nice to know about this. Thanks to Mom, for the idea.
Be sure to comment below with #Brian or #Jessica to vote for the winner!
#Brian. C'mon. Which is going to satisfy more: a sandwich or a can of string beans?
#Brian He got fresh veggies and a starch. However, I do not trust random bread. It can sometimes contain dairy, egg or dough softener. #Jessica She stayed within a smaller budget and managed to get all actual whole foods.
@@libbyreed8588 I agree! and the apple sauce Brian kept saying "it is not exactly whole food" well sorry but you have to have "whole food"
I vote #Brian. Although I'd like the fruit bowl with Brian's sandwich, lol.
Love Jessica, but #Brian definitely won! 😄
I vote for #Jessica'sMom. Great idea Mom!
You both win, I'd get the sandwich and the fruit bowl.
#Brian for the sandwich #Jessica for the fruit.... you guys complement each other
That's what I thought, I'd get the sandwich and fruit.
I think the clear winner is your TH-cam channel. You both teamed up to prove that you can find great wfpb snackable options and even more substantial meal options at a random gas station. Great vid!
At the risk of sounding cheesy, the two of you are just glowing with health.
They are looking really great! Jessica's complexion is flawless! Brian's rosey cheeks and lips!
Split Vote: the sandwich & the fruit bowl
I don’t think that is a proper seatbelt for Peef.
He always wears his seat belt when the vehicle is in motion :D
Maybe he was naughty and was being punished 🤣
Why the name Peef? Sorry, I'm a newbie here. 😋🤪
Brian won my popular vote but Jessica's Electoral College votes edged him out. Blame it on gerrymandering, Brian!
"That psycho eating green beans in a car! " Lol! 😂
😂
I laughed so hard at this! 👏👏
😅😂🤣
🤣
I know right haha So funny 😂🤣
I vote for Jessica for her pragmatic choices and for Brian for being inventive!
Malini says it just right.
Jessica gets the edge for “whole food” but Brian gets points for creativity. As a team, you found a very reasonable meal option for “on the road” days. And Jessica’s mom gets major points for a really clever video idea! ❤️
You guys are so funny. I think you both are winners!
Awww thanks Kathy!
All the blood is rushing to Peef's head!
Poor Peef!!
PEEF! GET DOWN THIS MINUTE!! That's not safe.
Peef was the clear winner. No cost, no calories, no oil, and no salt.
HaaaaHaaaa!
#Brian. Was a more complete, filling and nutritious meal.
I agree here, while the rules were not about quantity, I think the sandwich #Brian made was a great idea! Great job to both of you guys - you're awesome
#Brian Sorry Jessica, but his choices were very well thought out.
Brian’s face immediately after he chomps down on the green beans 😂
I visit my brother in that area and was actually surprised you found that many items. Way to go guys!
Price wise #Jessica
More balanced meal #Brian
Best at standing on his head #Peef
#TeamPeef
I love where you put Peef this time!
At first I thought Jessica was a win with it being whole food, but when he introduced the sandwich~~good job!!!
#Brian won this one. I hope y’all enjoyed the concert!
You guys are darling, I love following you as I found you about 6 months ago and have been hooked ever since! I'm so inspired by your weight loss story and engagement story too. we all won, you showed us that we can find at least something to eat
"...where it was gonna get purchased by a psycho...”
😂😂😂
My vote goes to #Jessica
Jessica's complexion looks beautiful ! This way of eating must really work ( his looks good too but she really has a glow)
I think WE ALL WIN with the choices and ideas you gave us all. No excuses and reasons to eat chips, and nuts in oil from a convenience stores.
Yum!
The green beans was a surprise, didn't think she would find something like that in a gas station. Jessica for originality
Technically, based on the rules, #Jessica won.
YEAH!!!!
Okay... So I'm voting first by products:
Green Beans - 😲 (too much sodium)
Fruit bowl - ✔
Almonds - ✔
Apple Sauce - 😲 (texture thing)
Sandwich - ✔
Pistachios - 😑 (too hard to overeat)
Winner: Jessica! (BUT the sandwich would be my first personal pick! LOL)
Love you guys!
Since wife and I are traveling for the next 4 months, this is a great help. Keep up the good work. You are both winners!
Jessica & Brian, you two are HONESTLY the CUTEST COUPLE I've ever seen! And yes i guess you're told that A LOT by your viewers? But truly, we can't help saying it cos you're so darn sweet, both of you together AND each of you separately. (which hardly EVER happens!) (Terrific didactic idea Mum!) Fun for us viewers to watch - all that hilarious sneaky finger pointing - but helpful snack ideas as well for our own road trips!) I'm sad to say this but I think Jessica must prepare to lose. We vote for #Brian! That sandwich looked tasty!
COME ONNN my own family voting for Brian 😭😭😭 P.S. Everyone check out my brother and sister-in-law's channel th-cam.com/users/superadventurefamily
It's definitely a tie! Your expressions are hilarious as you watch each other eat. Another great video!
Both did a very good job. I didn’t realize gas stations had actual food.
Pistachio vs almonds. ✅Almonds win.👗. (Healthier nut and no sodium)
Applesauce vs fruit bowl. ✅Fruit bowl wins. 👗. (Tastier and less processed)
Green beans vs sandwich. ✅Sandwich wins. 👖. Green beans too high in sodium, and sandwich looked yummy and satisfying.)
You guys are adorable and getting more adorabler (😅) every day. Keep up the great job. 👍

Brian for helping us think outside the norm and look at food ingredients on the label. Jessica for showing us we can get fruit, nuts and veggies at a gas station.
I like Jessica’s fruit cup & Brians Sandwich 😉💞🤭
There wasn't a lot of choices but... there were choices which impressed me. Who would have thought you could have found items for a whole food plant-based diet in a gas station of all places?
Both of you are winners! Putting your choices together would make a complete meal.
Brian wins on the sandwich. Jessica wins on the fruit.
I'm so glad you did this at a gas station we actually have!
LOL Peef doing calisthenics in the back of the car!
Greetings from Australia. I love all the items Jessica had (Hers was probably more of a whole food, no oil thing). Did not like the added salt on Brian's pistachios or the fact that the apple sauce is very processed but the sandwich was great. I think its a tiebreaker. Love you both.
Jessica, only because not every gas station will have the option of a sandwich you can hand pick. Great idea about the green beans, inventive.
I love canned green beans! Very nostalgic for me and for That I’m with Jessica on this one
I think Brian won. His was more of a meal. However, I’d combine the 2. I liked his sandwich & her fruit. The pistachios are fun to eat and edged out the almonds.
After Peef was set on the shelf, and you got back in the car, all I could think about is...."Where's Peef?" Did he make it back in the car?? LOL
🤣🤣
I LOVE this , both winners!!!!!
#Jessica and #Brian
#Jessica - closer to whole foods.
I vote #Brian.......sorry Jessica, yours was good too ❤️
Oh my god I love you guys.
Jessica's choices were much more WFPB. Brian's were more creative but based on the rules, have to say Jessica. Loved the video!
You guys Krock me up!!! 😆 I vote for Brian because that sandwich was a great idea.
Split vote - Fruit bowl and the sandwich. Brian...you bought baby food LOL.
Brian wins. Sandwich fresh and made to order. Jessica's fruit reminds me of the fruit they have at hotel continental breakfasts.
Brian for the sandwich, Jessica for the fruit, and Peef for being darn cute!
You all fit together well.
When Peef hangs upside down does all his magic run into his wee ears?
If I have to pick one, I am team Brian. I would be more likely to eat what he bought.
This is so fun! Love the vote. You should have a cook off :)
#Jessica for the win!! That's a meal to me! Love love love this challenge!!! So helpful for road trips!!
Brian's green bean face wins by a landslide! I spewed my tea on my computer screen!
I vote for both of you, but Brian for inventiveness and thinking outside the box! You guys are great!!!
Brian’s expression the entire time the green beans are being discussed - priceless. 🤣
Sort of comparing apples and oranges - Brian wins if it were for a meal, Jessica wins for a snack!
It’s a tie!! You guys showed me how to choose items that could make up a balanced plant based meal when traveling long distances. We usually bring food but it’s fun to stretch your legs and explore !

#brian
The sandwich! Great idea!
Brian wins for creativity, you win for straightforwardness.
You really showed how tough it is to get decent food out there! I think #Brian's sandwich was the best thing of all, so I vote for him! Jessica's fruit bowl, Brian's sandwich and either bag of nuts would do me just fine! Thanks, this was fun.
I'm with Brian....cold, canned green beans. YUCK! The sandwich was genius!
Peef upside down in background cracks me up!
I have to go with Brian - the sandwich put him over the top!!! LOL!! You guys are so much fun, as well as inspiring!!
I lol-ed when I saw Peef in the back round.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. It was fun and entertaining. You should do a few more challenges like a highway rest stop, a movie theatre or a mall food court.
I love canned green beans too.
The green beans swayed me over, my vote is for #Jessica :)
You both win in my book but Brian’s choices were more creative....great video!!!!!🙏🏼💜

I think you both did pretty darn good.
Certainly gave us something to think about when we need a snack from the gas station.
For me- Brian’s choices would be more satisfying for me- but you both did great!
Awww come on... join #TeamGreenBeans LOL Thanks for voting! ;)
You guys are awesome for doing his challenge!! 😌✊
