Congrats on your new Jag xk8. Very clean underneath and very nice find. One factory option that is missing that I noticed was the C.A.T.'s or Computer Active Technology Suspension. This is a feature offered on the xk8's and xkr whereby the suspension would automatically stiffen once it got to 100 mph. You can tell by looking at the top of the struts in the engine bay, if it had C.A.T'.s there would be a cable running from the top of the strut towers.

Do not sell, a classic in the making, smooth ride, sporty feel, good MPG, neat features and great looks. I just bought a 01 convertible and I love it, if you find a good mechanic or can maintain it yourself you're good to go.

If you want advice on repairing & maintaining your XK8 or XKR, To The Garage on TH-cam is very informative.

We bought a 2000 XKR coupe when the purchase of an E-Type fell through. We believe we ended up with an equally beautiful car that is far more practical than an E-Type. Our car was sold new with the R-Performace up-grade that includes Brembo brakes & 20" BBS Detroit wheels to clear the rotors. Coupes appear to be more common in Australia which is just as well because we are not convertible people. We prefer the early XKRs with their walnut dashes compared to the later models & X150 versions. We have had the XKR for several years now & thoroughly enjoy it every time we take it out.

The coupes are very difficult to find. the 2000 - 2008s I am searching for the XKR and plan to upgrade when I get mine.

I have the exact same car. Black on black. I've changed out the plastic chain tensioners with the metal ones,a very costly decision but well worth it I think..

at 5.20, that is the outer transparent protective lackuer of paint, getting loose. I have the same "problem" with my Jaguar above the doors on both sides. And minor places elsewhere. It does not harm the paint.
Congratulations with your Jaguar. Mine is same colour named "Topaz" Interiour also the same: Outmeal.
The more modern Jaguars are not made like this anymore, with the Wooden dash and steering wheel.
Wich I like very much, it gives a sort of classic presentation of the car.
Did you know that the shape of the dash is like the wings of a Spitfire? That is a ode to Coventry, were these Jaguars, as well were the Spitfire were produced.
My car is from 1996, and was one of the first entering in the Netherlands then. It was of a doctor. I am the 2nd owner. It did cost then almost 210 000 Guilders (FL), that's a 100 000 Euro's in today's money. a Near 110 000 $. 2nd hand they do now here between 12, til 22 000 Euro's. Depends on the KM/Milage and state of the car.
Owning a car is not cheap here in the Netherlands. Tax a 110 Euro's a month. Premium gasoline, the most expensive, but better! for your gas injectors, is a 2.15 Euro's a liter! (Dutch tax is a 75% on gas...)
When I drive in a modest way, I do 1 liter gas on 10 kilometers. When speeding, this goes up very quikcly
On YT there is an Englishman who has XK8, and does all sort of repairs and andjustments on it. His account is named: "To the garage; secrets of the XK8" I advice you to take a look at it. He is a real specialist on this car.
My car is cosmetic very good, but I have quitte a rust issue now. Left behind the wheel, in the back. And under the driver and passenger seat, the floor. Take a regular look under your car and at hidden places. In the front, under the radiator, there is a space were street dirt and leaves ar pyling up. With moisture it will rust there as well. When I bought my car, I did clean inbetween open places of the engine. OK, maybe I am crazy, but taking care of your car, always pays back. Treat her like she is your wife...
Have fun and many safe miles with your Jaguar! Greetings from Holland.
