That sounds lovely, either are a good choice for a tank if you do choose emeralds please let me know how you got on. I look forward to seeing your tank in the future! :)
@Shrimplestuff my 55g has bad diatoms right now because it's new, but I used a lot of bio media that I had put in my 15g 3 months prior to starting the 55g. I'm still very new to the hobby. 55yo and the 15g was my first fish tank ever. I got hooked and wanted bigger. The otocinclus are eating the diatoms slowly but there's a bunch of it. I have 2 gold longfin blue eye bristlenose plecos coming in a few days so I'm hoping they'll help with the brown stuff. Interesting cause i just checked and the frogbit seems to be doing a lot better than just a few days ago in the 55g. I changed fertilizer so I'm guessing that's it, but I know for a fact the lighting isn't as good as my 15g.
@@FishRfun oh wow! I love those blue eyed bristlenose but the ones around my area I can't convince my wife to justify purchasing some 🤣 you are very lucky! No matter the age you got into the hobby it is about the enthusiasm you have for it and by the sounds of it you are going to be having a long and healthy hobby in store for you! Good stuff about the plants, if they continue getting those black spots I would possibly reccomend getting another light or maybe even lift if further away from the plants just incase they are getting burned. That's the annoying thing about plants, they are very much trial and error. All being said I am very excited to see your journey into the world of aquatics!
@Shrimplestuff thanks so much. Unfortunately the lights are under the hood which I have to have because I have 12 praecox rainbows which are jumpers. Eventually I'm going to get an acryllic clear hood with cut outs for both my hob filters. I'm running a topfin silentstream 75 AND a seachem tidal 110. I LOVE the seachem. When I get the clear hood I'll get some good LED RGBs like I have on my 15g. The ones on the 55g are LED but it's the set up that is the lighting problem. With filters on both sides there's a lot of surface movement. So I put a floating plant corral in the middle which is perfect but the lights on each side don't reach all the way to completely cover the plants. It's looking better though. This Easy Green fertilizer from aquarium co-op is supposed to be really good
@@FishRfun I use easy green too and it is very good! Hopefully you will get better results from your plants, sometimes they can just have a funny period and then they eventually recover, you are doing all of the right things :)
Talked to you on reddit...I'm re-doing my 15g and think I'm going to do chili rasboras. Maybe dwarf emerald rasboras...not sure yet
