Well written and articulated review. Substantive, to the point, witty. Nice job.

The Octavia looks very classy and business like.i prefer it's subtle cleaner lines than a design that tries to hard.is it really that much different than an A4 shape?.it may lack the a4's obvious superior quality and badge but it's a family car on a budget and there's no better buy for £10k if you're a family man watching servicing and running costs.

No. All Skoda's have system that lights up one of the fog light during cornering. Automatically improving visibility in poor weather (rain).

If I hear another reviewer refer to this cars design as too conservative, I'll scream! what do you mean. you like it but your too hip, cool & trendy to admit it? Vulgar is out, simple and elegant is in... thank goodness. This car will lead the way as I predict it will sell in truckloads for its looks vs value alone.

Skoda has been producing highly desirable motors for a lot longer than this review suggests. The initial Fabia was a fantastic small car-much better than the Mark 2-and I can vouch for my own superbly built Octavia 1 Estate which I have had no less than 15 years from new. The 20v Turbo engine was an absolute gem-better than any VW Group is currently producing.
