14 hallelujah
18 I laughed out loud
30 Death 11 I was open-mouth shocked that you just jumped off with no hesitation, even more shocked you survived, then laughed as the universe put you to rest
05 Death 12 sandwiched
30 he’s learning!
32 that’s not a gate!!!
16 that’s precisely what it is
32 holy shit J’Roam is actually nice widdit
03 that’s like the DnD table in the corner. I think it would actually be a vibe. Quite heckin cosy in that corner imo
29 yeah 100%, he’d hang upside down like a bat, freak of a bloke
28 classic Dappy “guys, guys, be quiet” bit #2 (this time there actually was a “HYAH!”)
05 yes that’s a fat roll
20 now this is going to be a great moment, two great reunions ahead (technically 1 but whatever)
48 oh nvm, the reunion with Andre was very underwhelming
00 Zweihander is so sick in this game though, I love the moveset
25 oh I thought you knew it was Andre already and just didn’t care haha
52 ARtorius
00 You get your humanity back the same way as your souls, if you die and retrieve that green aura before you die again, you keep the humanity as well as your souls you had when you died last.
03 Death 13 shat on
58 yeah honestly the Zweihander’s heavy attack (the overhead) will knock most enemies prone, it’s crazy
12 Death 14 swamped
41 a man after my own heart
44 Death 15 “fuck this”
48 Yessss good man
00 Death 16 he won’t learn
22 general rule of thumb: yes, if you want to survive in a souls game, generally you’ll want to kill everyone before moving to the next room, lest there be even more enemies in the next room and you end up swamped
48 PLEASE DO NOT PRESS ‘USE’ ON THIS ITEM, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH
20 this is genuinely 100x worse than when you killed Emma in DS3 - see 50:25
38 Death 17 “don’t parry me”
00 Death 18
41 Death 19
23 If only you had some sort of implement capable of completely blocking incoming damage
05 Death 20
40 nah I’m doing the opposite, I’m telling you to use that swede of yours
You just picked up a rapier, on that topic. Why don’t you try a dex weapon like a rapier? Being able to attack faster and more often might benefit you, especially if you’re struggling to get to grips with the speed of the game.
10 time for tears then
30 already explained previously, but I’m sure you find out within the next few minutes
14 Correct!
08 Death 21 a sequence of events
Just a word of advice for future bosses (the game doesn’t tell you this) something cool you can do in this game that you can’t do in any other souls game is cut off the tails of most bosses that have them. It’ll always take a few hits to do this. You’ll get a weapon as a result, for example here if you cut off the tail of the first gargoyle, you’ll get the “Gargoyle Tail Axe”
02 I’ve also used this music in DnD combat
11 BELL GARGOYLES - 1 TRY
34 you can slide down ladders, I think it’s neutral stick and hold circle
16 touch pad
51 hahaha ffs you’re gonna do that after every boss kill now
/29 nice shot fucking hell
55 you did all that and didn’t even loot him
25 this is genuinely the only time in the game I’ll do this, simply because of how bullshit it is, but spoiler alert - you’ll need to look at this if you don’t want your game ruined.
In that cell was a guy in gold armour, his name is Knight Lautrec. Because you’ve killed Gargs before freeing him, he’s already moved to Firelink. As soon as you can, go to Firelink, go down the stairs to your left if you’re looking at the bloke sat on the rock, Lautrec will be there sitting down. Opposite him through iron bars is a fire keeper, he will kill her and extinguish the flame in Firelink, meaning you can no longer interact with her nor the bonfire itself. The game doesn’t tell you this, it just happens.
Killing Lautrec and keeping the fire keeper alive is important BECAUSE earlier when you got that fire keeper soul, you were meant to give that to her, which would then make your flasks heal more. Instead you used it and wasted it, I’m sorry to say. The equivalent would be like if you got an Undead Bone Shard in DS3, and instead of using it, you sold it for like 100 souls. There are a FINITE amount of fire keeper souls throughout the game, so I’m just letting you know not to make that mistake again.
Also, to kill Lautrec, simply stand in front of him and kick him twice, he’ll stand up after the first one, and fall off the edge with the 2nd one. Then go back and sit at the bonfire, leave, quit your game, load back in, go to where Lautrec was and collect your reward. READ THE DESCRIPTION OF THE REWARD CAREFULLY.
The alternative to not killing him is as I say, the fire keeper dying and the bonfire in Firelink going out, but it means you can do Lautrec’s side quest to get his armour. The choice is yours, but I know which one I’d make in a heartbeat.
20 Yeah, but there are shortcuts, as I’m sure you’ll see soon enough. Mayhaps one might try the elevator under the stairs. (Not really a spoiler because I’m sure you’re gonna do that anyway)
Good 1st session. You genuinely did a good amount. It’s definitely the slowest of the souls games and takes some getting used to, but once you do it’s very nice. I’d say just go with the pace, with a slower game comes slower gameplay, take your time through areas and check everything thoroughly (which you’re already doing for the most part)
