I wish it really was up to the woman to not want to have children. I started trying to be sterilized starting at the age of 21. I finally gave up at 31. The doctors always say, "You will change your mind," or "You may change your mind." I'm 45. I still haven't had kids. I am 45 years old, and nobody let me choose what I want to do with my body. People did finally stop telling me that I'll change my mind. The next step is folks saying it's such a shame I missed my chance. **rolls eyes**
I had the implant put in and my doctors wife kept saying “so in three years you’ll have another baby yes”? And I was like...”uh no” because honestly I just want to see if the hormonal implant would help regulate my mood and so far it has greatly improved my depression and overall mood. My doctor is in his late 70’s so all I can think is that their generations norm was to have 10+ kids which is crazZzzy for me to fathom, like damn how did/do women just spend a huge chunk of their lives just continuously popping out babies!?!

So many doctors operate based on biased reports that say some crazy percentage of women who were sterilized come back and say they regret it. The only evidence I’ve found to support that is something that said women who had to be sterilized for reasons other than not wanting kids ended up regretting it which is pretty obvious to me that that would happen. It’s ridiculous that the world still thinks it can control women this much. Sterilization, abortion, all that. It’s an attack on women’s rights to their bodies

That everyone keep saying that.. My family, my friends.. Everybody thinks that it's a bad thing don't have kids.. Since most old people move to assisted homes and nursing homes when they can't do things alone anymore, the argument that kids will take care of their parents seems very old-fashioned/third world... Then again Finland does have good social security benefits compared to the rest of the world🤔
The idea is ridiculous, but I think it's also misunderstood in some cases. I'm sure there are some selfish people out there who want their kids to take care of them, but for others it's simply about knowing that, when you're old, you can look at your young family and die in peace knowing that your "tribe" and values live on. I've been preparing to become a mother my entire life because I want my kids to have the best opportunities, and I want to be wise enough so they grow into good, happy people. When I think of death with this in the background, it isn't so scary anymore. Not everyone is the same, but this is part of why having children is so important to me.

She said "There are too many selfish moms and dads in the world, I like being selfish but not at a kid's expense." With that in mind, I found the right person for me. Due to our ages at the time (I was mid-30s, he was mid-40s), he did ask me early on because he knew many my age rushing into marriage and kids due to biological clock ticking. I had no interest in that. Marriage is on the table because we're in the US and I have the government job with the health insurance while he pays out of pocket but there's no other reason to rush the process.

I totally agree. They really portray the men as being these lazy people that dont care. My Uncle has a small child and he is like the best, most involved father ever. Girl! I get that shit all the time!! I play tennis every day and have a nanny watch my daughter from 9-11 every morning (while she naps might I add!!) and every. Single. Time. I play someone asks who is watching her. I used to say a nanny, but now I just say “oh she’s napping. She’s fine at home. Fingers crossed she doesn’t wake up before our match is over!”
The struggle and/or loss due to infertility or miscarriages are reason enough for people to mind their own business and be respectful by not asking those leading questions. I hope there will be a day when that's commonly understood.

I'm really glad you talked about the expectation to have kids, but I also hate this whole "mother is really happy about pregnancy but father hates it" trope. What's wrong with portraying loving, healthy relationships? It wouldn't detract from the video at all, in fact it might make it more bearable. @@selty I find that it's either a load of praise for doing normal parenting things, or they have that same work put down as just "babysitting", usually with the implication that he's an inferior/incompetent parent. Either we should be treating all parenting as 'extended babysitting' or as this 'uwu magical experience to be praised'. I get why some people will praise dads (especially single ones) for some of the things they do (like the dad who went to hair school so he can learn to do neat updos for his lil girl/s) but just basic things like diapers or answering the pretend phone when the kiddo passes it over? That's just what a parent ought to do.

I hear ya! I get it from extended family more than other people. I was always 'if i met a guy and he wanted a family i'd be open to it' but that didn't happen and i'm fine with that too. When I was pregnant I picked up crap off the floor all the time. I did yoga at least a couple of times a week, lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment building with no elevator and a dog that had to go out a few times while my husband was at work, and I could flip a mattress. Unless you have some complication, you should be able to do many (if not all) of the things you do before.
I love how the woohoo/troom troom people wrote that title like every woman has been pregnant, wants to get pregnant, and/or *can* get pregnant (i.e.: trans women, infertile women, non-binary amab people)

Thats good cuz yeah its a lot of work and stress like say if you were an older siblinging taking care of a baby sibling, you would understand taking care of them but the pregnancy is a whole other story. Karena Qualey good for you! I have 2 kids. Always knew I wanted kids. But could never understand (and still don’t) why society assumes EVERY woman wants to mother children. Some of my very favorite friends have opted out of motherhood. I learn so much from them, and they actually help me to be a better mom.
@@wildwillow1945 another reason for my decision was kidney failure. I had a transplant at a young age and was afraid I'd pass the condition on to my kids. Little did I know my family was riddled with a dirty gene pool and a total of 4 members of my family had to have organ transplants. I don't have children, but I love my nephews and nieces as my own!
I also think that the friendship that elderly people find while being members of the community can also help them to have fulfilling relationships later on in life. Think of how many people sit in long term care centres with no offspring or relatives visiting them. Life is what you make of it and procreation is not a guarantee to avoid loneliness or lack of support!

As a person who wants to have children, the idea is STILL crazy to me. Like why would I put that burden onto my children.
The idea is ridiculous, but I think it's also misunderstood in some cases. I'm sure there are some selfish people out there who want their kids to take care of them, but for others it's simply about knowing that, when you're old, you can look at your young family and die in peace knowing that your "tribe" and values live on. I've been preparing to become a mother my entire life because I want my kids to have the best opportunities, and I want to be wise enough so they grow into good, happy people. When I think of death with this in the background, it isn't so scary anymore. Not everyone is the same, but this is part of why having children is so important to me.

Personally I have never wanted to have kids. I remember years ago having a conversation with a like-minded person and she gave the best answer to the "why don't you want kids" question. She said "There are too many selfish moms and dads in the world, I like being selfish but not at a kid's expense."
With that in mind, I found the right person for me. Due to our ages at the time (I was mid-30s, he was mid-40s), he did ask me early on because he knew many my age rushing into marriage and kids due to biological clock ticking. I had no interest in that. Marriage is on the table because we're in the US and I have the government job with the health insurance while he pays out of pocket but there's no other reason to rush the process.

I am a woman who wanted to get married and have children, i have always wanted that but i respect the hell out of people who don't want that! I love Cristine and Ben for being open about their opinions because people need to see Marriage isn't for everyone. Children most certainly aren't for everyone. Every day i see parents that should never have had children and it's clear they actually regret doing so.
I love the serious reflection from simply mum and dad at the end. Infertility is also an issue when people ask things like “when are you having kids?” Some people can’t and it’s a really tender and painful issue.
The struggle and/or loss due to infertility or miscarriages are reason enough for people to mind their own business and be respectful by not asking those leading questions. I hope there will be a day when that's commonly understood.
People shouldn’t even ask, why would anyone need to know when someone is or isn’t having kids? Literally no one needs to know and they’ll know if/when you do decide to have children. People are so crass and thoughtless.

I'm really glad you talked about the expectation to have kids, but I also hate this whole "mother is really happy about pregnancy but father hates it" trope. What's wrong with portraying loving, healthy relationships? It wouldn't detract from the video at all, in fact it might make it more bearable. Although, we know Troom Troom's content has never really taken that into consideration.
And how a father looking after his kid/s alone is praised for looking after his kids and called a babysitter. Like he should be complimented for being a father and treated as if it's out of the ordinary

Either we should be treating all parenting as 'extended babysitting' or as this 'uwu magical experience to be praised'.
I get why some people will praise dads (especially single ones) for some of the things they do (like the dad who went to hair school so he can learn to do neat updos for his lil girl/s) but just basic things like diapers or answering the pretend phone when the kiddo passes it over? I honestly hate those videos. Like they make it seem like pregnant women are 100% incapable.
When I was pregnant I picked up crap off the floor all the time. I did yoga at least a couple of times a week, lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment building with no elevator and a dog that had to go out a few times while my husband was at work, and I could flip a mattress. Unless you have some complication, you should be able to do many (if not all) of the things you do before.

You don't have to bend over to get the vacuum. Trust me, its much easier to get the vacuum when you're pregnant than to reach under the couch.

Thats good cuz yeah its a lot of work and stress like say if you were an older siblinging taking care of a baby sibling, you would understand taking care of them but the pregnancy is a whole other story. I don't want kids because I get too anxious and stressed being around them so i know I won't but if people want them then make sure you're prepared for what is going to be coming at you lol

Karena Qualey good for you! I have 2 kids. Always knew I wanted kids. But could never understand (and still don’t) why society assumes EVERY woman wants to mother children. Some of my very favorite friends have opted out of motherhood. I learn so much from them, and they actually help me to be a better mom.
@@wildwillow1945 another reason for my decision was kidney failure. I had a transplant at a young age and was afraid I'd pass the condition on to my kids. Little did I know my family was riddled with a dirty gene pool and a total of 4 members of my family had to have organ transplants. I don't have children, but I love my nephews and nieces as my own!
I also think that the friendship that elderly people find while being members of the community can also help them to have fulfilling relationships later on in life. Think of how many people sit in long term care centres with no offspring or relatives visiting them. Life is what you make of it and procreation is not a guarantee to avoid loneliness or lack of support!
