N/E Link - Yes, the Victron inverters come with this option, so you can manually re-wire on installation. Earth rod under last years 18th Edition update, not (as requires invasive works) so as temporary setup have connected to DNO earth.
Did you have to notify the DNO? I have a garden setup that was primarily used for a workshop, but with how much power I produced last summer I had a feeling it could run my entire house for at least full days. 4x 500w panels connected to Victron 150/45 2x 535w panel connected to Victron 100/20 1x 48v 6000/12000w peak PureSineWave Inverter 1x 2.5KW 48V battery Its connected away from the hosue so currently has its own earth rod, but I've been really interested to install something similar to power the house.
Hi, No you don't have to notify the DNO of a change over switch. Naturally you need to notify the DNO of any grid tied inverter now above 5kWh. Your setup is nice, however the inverter is not certified to be grid connected so you'd need to have a change over switch to disconnect from the grid if you wanted to power your home. Your battery is also quite small, so of course it would work, but you'd need to ensure plenty of sun on those panels and passing through to the battery to keep it all up and running. Good luck with the project, sounds like fun.
@nextdaysolar3349 I was making around 4.5/5kw per day with just 2 panels last year summer just gone and recently upgraded to 4 more. We use around 6kw per day so once the DChouse 48v batteries come back into stock I'll upgrade to another one totalling 5.2kw. Will be scheduling an electrician soon to install the change over switch! Thanks for your help!
Some useful information but where is the second video you mention in the comments. I have two portable EB240 battery backup units (each 2.4KWH) that I'd like to wire via a switch (I know I need the mains isolator first).
Yes, if you visit our website www.nextdaysolar.co.uk and you are based within the London area we are happy to do, otherwise we can assist you in getting the parts, and finding a local electrician. Asher
Not a great install to be honest, not seperate earthing system in place to referance the earth from the inverter or a neutral earth link, not only is this in breach of regs, but the DNO will not take to kindly to that either. Also the change over switch is now blocking the front cover from opening fully on the consumer unit, this is in breach of regulations. Not a fan either of the plugtop being hardwired into the change over switch, dont think this breaches regs but still a poor install method as during normal operation its going to get pulled about putting stress on the terminations.
Hi Luc, if you check out or revised video, we essentially explain why this didn't work, and setup a new system. As you note, a property should / is required to have a separate earthing, you will also know this can be tricky in certain situations/locations if the customer doesn't want such invasive works to the property. In the video referenced, the Inverter has a neutral / earth link setup which improves things. Consumer unit is fine to open fully, and be removed. The plug top to change over switch is absolutely fine, and most convenient way of doing. It could be hardwired, but its better for ease of portability of the generation unit. Anyhow, take a look at our more recent video, and think you will be more pleased, although perhaps not entirely sold !
Brilliant information. Going to get this fit asap
Did you install an earth rod and have suitable N-E link for the generator/inverter?

Hey, great video. Do you have a link to the changeover switch shown?
Of course. www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/CGM125CS.html , we have a newer version of the video, not sure if you've seen ?
@@nextdaysolar3349 have you got the link to the newer video?

Are you able to install this equipment.

Oh dear you can't have the tails into the board coming in separate stuffing glands like that
NO Idea comes to. mind ?
less than 70w of energy, BS
You welcome to come around and check. Most boilers use even less.
