About your accidental drive upgrade: More acceleration is more gooder. Force equals mass times acceleration. All masses are 1Lb so the only way to get faster drive is more frictional force. What is that equal to? Coefficient of friction (science words for “grip”) multiplied by normal force (science words for “force the ground exerts on you”). Magnets pull down providing more normal force. Foam wheels deform under pressure from the magnets, providing more grip. Congratulations, you have accidentally created a mathematically perfect robot. Vector from Despicable Me would be proud. ❤
Ok, here is my plan,..... I am going to finally finish that time machine. I will go back to the year 1988 when I was ten. I will bring all of my CAD/3D Printing/Tinkering/Hobby knowledge to my younger self as well as a computer that currently runs CAD, and a 3D Printer or two. I will also start a company like PCBWay. Then I will not only be able to make these things back then, I will corner the market and live with my millions! You Sir, have a great mind and great bot build here. It is so amazing what younger generations get at their disposal. I know you are not ten, lol. I have always wanted to do this, way back in the early 2000's when Battle Bots was huge you couldn't make this kind of tech. Crazy what you can build! Congrats on all the payback and grudge wins! Hats off to you!
Man I wish I had started doing this when I was ten too lol. Its incredible what you can do with CAD software nowadays! But thank you very much and I look forward to building up Vector even more!
Even bigger than bot build vs bot build in the cheesecake battle was the driver battle. Over here on the east coast Alex has one of the top bots and can drive to match. With how zippy that bot is on plywood it can be hard to keep up
Yeah it was actually a bit difficult because Vector at the time was too fast, I had to dial it down in the dual rates to keep up. I think this match he was having some drive issues, but a great match none the less!
One type of wheel that could be worth considering are TPU printed wheels, but coated with either silicone or something similar to electrical tape to give it more Friction Coefficient
Yeah I have looked into doing some TPU core wheels, they stick really well to silicone and have great shock absorption. I am considering making a future version out of TPU, I just need to figure out the weight problem. As its density is pretty considerable when trying to print a durable part especially wheels that take a LOT of punishment. It is in development though!
That's a pretty good result honestly and the weapon creates some very nice sparks! Also very well driven, even with the weapon down you kept good aggression and control in the matches. So have you measured the weapon RPM at full beans? Because winning weapon to weapon hits with another vert at 25% power is very impressive.
Thank you! And I have not been able to see how fast its actually going, I may get a radar gun in the future and literally test how fast its going in mph. I theorize its around 28-30k rpm but that may be an over or under estimate considering air resistance. All I know is, when I went to my last event, multiple people said Vector sounded like a 3 pound bot.
@@TeamVector441 - I use a small laser tachometer and some reflective tape to measure my weapon speed: it's roughly 18,000 RPM, and with the moment of inertia of my weapon (measured virtually in my CAD program) I'm storing about 80 joules of energy.
Well a good place to find events near you would be robotcombatevents.com, they have almost all the fights happening in the US and its a great place to find out were its going on :)
Interesting🤔And after looking at its density it seems to be lighter too! I might have to take a look into that, its an interesting filament! Thanks for the recommendation!
The ones I was using in this video were actually getting caught in the wheels, when they would get hit they would lock up that side (hence why I removed them for better maneuverability) I've already redesigned them and plan on putting them on the next version👍

@@TeamVector441 Daaang. Huge congrats on that. Cheesecake is not a weak opponent. That bot has ripped its way through enough tournaments to prove it's a tough fight.
It was awesome to fight Vector! And it's awesome to see what you were up to beforehand!

That egg beater is one hell of a weapon and doubles as a nearly indestructible (for the weightclass) shield. Great design!
Thank You!

Awesome start to the channel 🔥, cant wait to see what you and Vector have in store for the future 👍
Yeah thank you! Ill be making more soon!
to quote vector- oh yeaahhh!!
woah fighting cheesecake, now that is a honour only the elite or very unfortunate get to do
Yeah it was pretty fun to fight against cheesecake!
Amazing Chanel! Can’t wait to see the future of vector!!

The narration of your videos and the video clip inserts are top-notch entertaining 👌 keep up the good work 👏
Thank you!
This is the side character everyone seems to mind but as the story progresses gets loved more and more. Keep it up!
Eventually he will have his own spinoff movie.
In 3 videos, this is my new favourite channel
Thanks! Glad to be a favorite!
can't wait for next upgrade/tourny
Very cool. Will follow
Yay local bot builders! Bay area hype, because it started here 😁😁
👍
Dude that was awesome to watch. Great editing too! Can't wait for the next one.....hope its a bit longer 😉
Thank you!
So stoked!! Can’t wait to watch more adventures!!

over their! over they're!
goes to show how well a carbide copy can be
I wouldn't say its a exact carbide copy of other bots, Vectors more of a combination of a lot of different bots :)
Great Job! We all fight the New bot Blues.
No truer words have been said.
Can’t wait for the upgrades!! Dang it’s so interesting to me 😂
Yeah I'm also making a vid on the new version that ill be bringing when going to the next one in a few weeks.
luvin the vids
riptide was clearly the right bot to take as inspiration
I agree :)
@@TeamVector441 btw if possible you should armor the weapon drive a little just in case
@@Cl-2048 Yeah I do try to keep it protected! I have a TPU concept that might work for the front end. So hopefully it works!
@@TeamVector441 TPU is cool
I see a potential weakness to all these bots... string? Could a bot that dispenses string or a net tangle and disable the other's main weapon?
Unfortunately not :( Entanglement devices are banned in all combat robotics.

I really want a mini bot were I live I can’t go to places 😢😢

This was great
Thanks!
Your catchphrase needs to be “you just got vectored!”
Or make a shirt or something.
Based on the success of the channel, shirts are not out of the picture lol
What kind of filament do you use for orange parts?
I use a soft plastic called TPU, its 3D printed and essentially deforms when hit. Its really handy for ablative armor!
@@TeamVector441 It seems that they are often lost. Perhaps it makes sense to try PP.

@@TeamVector441i use it. but its a pain to print it. tpu prints easier. But pp is better in every way. its more durable and way way lighter

Hopefully someday lol, the season just started over I believe, so we'll see how he does at future events!
