Vector the robot supervillain
Yeet
Great video dude, love your work. That robot combat facility is amazing. Such a great space for the hobby to grow!
I know right! WCCRL is a great place for the sport going forward, and they say their facility is always changing to fit the needs of the builders which is super awesome!
What drive motors does vector use?
Repeat Robotics Mini MK3s. Their brushless motors with a lot a of power and torque!
what reciever/transmitter do you use?
I use a Radiolink RC4GS V3, rc car style radio with a micro receiver. Works well for me cause I came from driving RC drift cars. Hopefully that helps!😀
What did you use to make the metal weapon and frame and the carbon fiber parts?
I used Fusion 360 to design the main weapon and also to estimate the overall weight of each part. I actually designed everything else through Shapr3D which I then exported to Fusion 360. Anything that's not the main weapon was made on Shapr3D and was sent to PCBWay to be CNC'd or lazer cut. Hope that helps :)
not the pokemon card ontop of achilles lol
I saw that too!
@@TeamVector441 my favorite part was when vector exploded his side armor
I've been designing an ant weight and have been looking at some of vectors designs for reference. I was wondering roughly how much the robot costs. If you don't really know that's fine too!
That depends! Especially on were specifically you have your parts made weather it be CNC'd or something along those lines. Vectors aluminum frame(Which I hope to switch to UHMW to help with costs) with all included plates and mounts costs around 300-400 by itself, and the Tie main weapon $250+ so its not exactly cheap. But I offset it with sponsors and such. I would actually recommend PCBWay for that as well especially if your looking to CNC parts, they offer insanely competitive pricing as long as the part isn't too complicated. But if your looking to make a bot similar to Vector I would take cost into consideration! And I would be interested to see how it turns out, let me know how it goes!
@@TeamVector441 I will update you as I go along with the build. I’m getting my weapon made by pcbway, plus UHMW armor and two carbon fiber top and bottom plates from CNCMadness. I am planning to print my frame out of nylon 11, and some little titanium plates from send cut send. I tried to make as many parts identically as I could (to lower prices) and it was a bit of a challenge for the main rails. I am currently printing a mockup to check how everything fits together and after that, I will buy all of my parts from the vendors above. I will update you on how it goes!
@@DylanVelupula That's awesome! Be careful of carbon fiber though! It tends to sheer and break if its hit hard enough, but its very light and rigid. And 3D print everything first! That's the best way to make sure that everything fits well, and make sure to use my link to save on your PCBWay order. Trust me every penny counts! And I look forward to seeing what you create!
@@TeamVector441 Thanks! I am currently in the process of buying all of the components other than custom CNC'd parts and test-printing my frame so I can check that everything fits. I'll update this comment throughout my build!
Just a small (but rather annoying) update: I have gotten some of my fasteners and am only now realizing how their weight adds up on my bot. Time to go redesign again 🙃. I'm happy I found out now when I can still redesign and not waste a bunch of time 3d printing the frame again. I plan on making my weapon slightly smaller, and shrinking down my wheelbase to accommodate the weight.
I have an idea that I don’t know about, but seeing that you said you have about 50 grams of weight left, what if you put in a really small weapon about the third of the size and put a nylon support that could fit in the middle? I do worry that if it’s uncentered you may flip over from your gyration, and there could be possibly structural flaws. If you have a lot of weight left over, maybe you can make it metal? I’m not sure, but if this idea sounds good, you could experiment with it. Overall, I think Vector is pretty solid design, there will need to be little refinements here and there, but the bots looks really impressive. I’m excited to see more of it in the future, especially in the form of your entertaining videos!
Yeah I really want to try to see if it would be possible to still have some armor in the front of Vector when fighting. Ideally have a big titanium wedge when fighting against horizontals. But I have had a few people mention the idea so it might be something I wanna look into! Thanks for the recommendation!
goes to show how well a carbide copy can be
I wouldn't say its a exact carbide copy of other bots, Vectors more of a combination of a lot of different bots :)
Vector's weapon is too powerful even for itself
Yeah it basically self imploded lol
This is edited like someone who has done TH-cam for like 10 years. The content feels engaging and it’s enjoyable to watch. Can not wait for the next vid! <3

This is so flippppin awsome!!!!
It was awesome!
The mix of robot fighting and funny editing/storytelling makes your videos one of a kind, in the best way possible :D Awesome job!
I try my best to make it entertaining! Glad you enjoyed it!
maybe hide the front wheels
I tried a design that covered the front wheels and it ended up being incredibly heavy. For now the design like this actually works really well, because the weapon is so large bots when trying to hit the wheels end up hitting the main weapon instead!
I'm surprised those front wheels weren't lost with how exposed they are.
Surprisingly I've never lost vectors front wheels during a fight, except when going against horizontals. The weapons so wide and has so much reach, if you try to aim for the wheels you end up hitting the weapon which is why its so wide :)
3:02 what is the golden bar called? Where did u find it?
That's called a 1lb Ver Fingertech Beater bar, it can be found on Fingertech's website or a different robot combat parts website. Here's a link to both: www.fingertechrobotics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ft-1lb-beater-bar-assy palmbeachbots.com/products/fingertech-1lb-beater-bar-assembly
What software do you use for editing? I wanna do simmilar recaps for my bot but don’t know where to start with the video production
I personally use Premier Pro, use it for all my editing and video creation :)
@@TeamVector441 you pay the monthly price or is there some free/student version that I’m unaware of (I use fusion 360 as my cad of choice bc of the student version haha)
I am trying to build an antweight or beetle weight bot, how do I go about choosing motors escs receivers etc?
That's a great question! Their are a ton of different drives to choose from, but their are mainly two types. Brushed and brushless drives. Brushed are less expensive and have less power but are just brute force motors that can take a beating. Their pretty good for beginners as they are MUCH easier to wire up, especially at larger scales and cost benefits. Brushless motors are high speed and torque along with general finer motor control. But at the cost of well cost lol Very expensive at times but its personally what I like to run on vector. Here are two great sites that sell both types. palmbeachbots.com/collections/motors-mounts repeat-robotics.com/product-category/motor/
something I've found thats helped immensely with the "Energy Kickback" of high KE weapons, is adding a little "foot" to the bottom of your weapon upright/forks etc. especially with the foam wheels when you hit the force pushing back on your bot compresses the foam, causing the little feet to make contact with the ground, providing your bot with a more ridged structure/base and allowing it to deliver more of the kinetic energy into your opponent.
Yeah I thought that too! The newest version of Vector has feet on the front that are about 1mm off the floor to try and negate kickback :)
@@TeamVector441 nice! Bot looks great! Would love to fight against it if you ever make your way north to Canada to compete at Kilobots
