- Hey guys - thanks for the great response to our last video. Much appreciated. It's been a busy two weeks for us after getting the TB result but nothing like a good challenge to get into 2024!
Hope ye enjoy,
The Keanes

Shitty way ta start ur day seen gud cows gowing away
It’s not great now is it Brendan. An awful sickener but nothing you can do when you’re in the system unfortunately 😅
You are such a great hard working young couple. Hope your next TB test is better for you.
Thanks very much 😊 Yes we’ve just one more retest to go and hopefully we’ll be clear all the way 😄
Good video, a very difficult time for any farmer, especially a big operation.like yer selves, the most difficulty is the uncertainty not knowing when ye will be clear again
Thanks very much 😊 Yes I think the unknown is the hardest - you hope for the best case scenario but also need to prepare for the worst!
You pair seemed to get things in hand really quick and with any luck you'll be able to make a profit from the beef stock once you can sell them
I suppose you get used to challenges when you’re farming - each year brings something new 😊 Please God we will if they get a good start - that’s always the key isn’t it!
Hello, you can keep the paperwork if you have enough of it in Germany.😂. I wish you a lot of strength so that you can get this under control again quickly. The process would be the same in Germany. Greetings
Haha it’s the same everywhere so 🤣 Thank you very much! Hopefully it’s just a bump in the road and things will get back on track 😊
@@keanefamilyfarmyes it's hard but don't give up hope, stay strong and keep your eyes on your goal.I lost the dairy in 2021 and have been intensively looking for a dairy for 2 years and have finally been delivering milk again since last year. Even though I now have to transport it 25 km every 2 days, I'm glad that I fought for it. we live with and for agriculture. Greetings
I'm milking 220.70 odd calved down wit tb fri gone first time Eva.nitemare.
Sorry to hear about that it's fair tough ,best of luck to you
Oh that is shocking Seamus, so sorry to hear that. You’re right, that’s nothing short of a nightmare. I hope things turn around for you 🙏🏼
Hope ye are OK. I'm so sorry about the tb
Thanks for your comment Gearoid 😊
Tough time for ye on farm. Hope next test will be clear.
Thanks very much James, we’re definitely hoping for that all going well 😊
great to see some one showing up the great TB scam , farmers need a MR BATES to show up the broken TB system the DEPARMENT is using for last seventy years and to see what it is doing to farmers mental health .I hope more farmers do the same as you .Good luck to you
That’s a very good point about farmers’ mental health - I’d say it’s the stress of the whole ordeal you’ve to go through than the actual TB outbreak that makes farmers suffer so badly. Hopefully we’ll see some light at the end of the TB tunnel soon 🙏🏼
Fringes crossed next next test
Yes thank you 😊🙏🏼
Not easy seeing good cows leave the farm fingers crossed for a clear test next time 👍
Farmers pay no inheritance tax.
Pay no rates on commercial buildings .
Huge fuel rebate
Grants for about everything including buildings and equipment
Less health and safety requirements than other industry.
Etc etc etc etc etc
Yet they always feel hard done by. . If they had start a business from scratch in an other industry they would realise how much they get for free .
No it’s not, especially when you’ve reared them yourselves as young stock and seen them up through the years. Not a nice way for them to go but like you said, we’ll hope for a clear test next time 😊🙏🏼
Scam... how long is it around now tb...who would like to see tb gone...farmers, who would to see the tb stay about? The other side, how much a year is it worth to them, vets, department etc, its seems to be rampant this year with the coinciding of wanting the national herd reduced, handy way to do it... best of luck with the extra work load, hope ye go clear soon, make sure to follow them up to see if the do actually have tb.
Thanks for your comment Damien! Definitely agree that farmers would like to see the back of TB now at this stage 😅 We have heard of numerous herds going down, and big numbers of stock too. We’re fortunate we only had 5 to go!
Thanks very much, we certainly will do 😊
Such a dose lads to keep all them calves just bad time of year in a spring set up hope ye get two clear tests as soon as possible I can't be there if my animals have to go away to be destroyed would take me a long time to get over it. Going backs to the four days and penalties we were 5 days got phone call from dept saying could I come up with a good excuse why they shouldn't be penalised or not get compensated all. I said I can I broke a tendon in my finger this summer I wasn't lying but I know what finger id give them shower of w@#£&@s if I met them in person rant over great video not easy to make thank you and well done for sharing
Thanks very much for your comment Padraig. Yes it’s just an unfortunate time of the year with spring coming up, but at least we had a couple of weeks to get ourselves organised before chaos ensues 😅
Janey I can’t believe that altogether.. what an awful dose. It’s bad enough to have them going but to be threatened to take away compensation at such a difficult time already is shocking 😔
Good luck to ye all. I’m not in dairy, can I ask what happens now milking wise? Also how long to next test? Is there silver lining in that can keep cows in this time year so less risk at this time of year? Have fingers crossed for you all…
Thanks very much 😊 So the rest of the herd tested clear apart from those 5 cows and are safe to continue milking until our next test. We are only milking a handful at the moment anyways. It’s 60 days from when the reactors leave your farm until you can do your next test. And then you’ll need another clear test 60 days after that one to get out of ‘lockdown’.
That is a good point about cows being in, and could possibly be a benefit to us if they picked it up from wildlife. The only thing when they’re in is that they are in very close proximity to one another for passing it around. If they were grazing, they would be more spread out and only end up in close quarters for milking time. Because we don’t know where they got it, it’s hard to determine which scenario is better 😅
Hope that answers your questions, thanks again 😊
@@keanefamilyfarm thanks a lot for taking time to answer. Good luck all…take care…
Wishing you all well ,love the channel
Thanks very much Thomas, much appreciated 😊
