I was only 10 years old then, amazing scrum with no touch pause engage, and yes the ball looks and sounds heavy. This is awesome. Thanks for the upload bro.
Lolz the good old days alright, crowd running on the field on full time, no lifting in the line outs, this is classic stuff. Lion beer and skellerup shoes on the bill boards, no big screen replays, lion beer is now lion red , lion ice, and the southern Speights.
I had to watch this complete tour in a cinema en Buenos Aires, a condensed 2 hour viewing, a month after the matches, and it cost me quite a penny! I was lucky, because some of the Pumas turned up! I clearly remember Petersen as he was standing in the aisle of the cinema: he was not facing my way, but he seemed wider than someone facing me! And yet, by today´s standards he was very average. He was wearing spectacles, because one of the most implacable wing-forwards couldn´t see a thing! These matches were very frustrating for us Argentinians, but it was a great tour! No doubt. Both teams, in this video, appear amateurish. Porta makes unbelievable mistakes. The Iacchetis appear as only heavy potato sacks, completely unskilled. Just heavy and strong. No good at all, nowadays....Gache, is more of a clown, and yet more astute than many. But then, they surely performed! Without them, and others, these matches would have been awful! And the rules of the game were different. The Refs were respected, but were many times partial, specially when the big guys played the samll guys, such as ABs vs Pumas. I am not complaining; just putting things in perspective. If these matches could have been watched in Argentina, we would have, at any hour of the day. LOS PUMAS mean tu us much more than ABs to New Zealanders, to South Africa the BOKS, to Aussies the Wallaby´s, or to any other nation. It is disappointing when we loose, but it depends on how. PUMAS are to be feared, allways!
se ven muchas irregularidades de parte del arbitro. Pero imagino el contexto, año 79, es casi logico en virtud de que aun en nuestro tiempo los arbitros siguen favoreciendo a los de negro cada vez que un equipo se les planta.
HI , I AM FROM ARGENTINA, I PLAY RUGBY IN BANCO NACION. AND ONE OF THE PLAYERS OF THIS MATCH (FITO CAPPLLETI, NUMBER 11) IS MY TRAINER AND MY JOB PARTNER. I SHOW HIM THE VIDEO AND HE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE IT. HOW CAN YOU GET ME THE VIDEO?. HE WILL BE SO GREATEFULL WITH YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Hugo Porta, el mejor jugador del mundo de todas las epocas! The best player of the world

That drop by Porta at minute 46 is amazing!

A punch-up interspersed with the odd outbreak of rugby
Cuantas modificacoones hubo en las reglas Porta un Crack
termina el partido y todos los pibitos corriendo detras del gran Hugo Porta. Que jugador diferente!
These were NZ XV, not the ABs.
en ese partido el referee nos bombeo, solo miraba a los Pumas, estaban todos con los All Blacks.

Desde el minuto 1 penal inexistente contra los pumas
does this make you miss the days of amateur rugby? that ball sounds like a block of wood!
They were kind of heavy too lol. Rugby league balls too in Australia were hard like union balls. Kicking both balls must be pain in the ass. Lol.
