Happy days for hawkes bay. They brutalized the lions in 1971. Four tries by the lengendary gerald davies the difference..the second string lions team was poor on this 1993 tour. In 1971 bob hiller was the second team captain. He couldnt get jprs shirt thanks to the kicking of barry john. Bobs second string tean went through the new Zealand provinces unbeaten. Tours are no existant now. A lions tour used to be two months! New Zealand don't even play cardiff any more!😮

My G, I do love the Welsh…..one of my Dreams would have been going to Cardiff Arms Park, to watch the All Blacks verse Wales…. And enjoy more than a few great Welsh Beers with the locals. It a shame but it is now unrealistic for me to have these dreams.

I was born in London, my late father was from Llanelli and with a surname of Jones I was brought up with supporting Llanelli (Scarlets now) for obvious reasons. I got to go to Stradey twice and I shall never forget that wonderful place, I feel incredibly proud and honoured to be partly from there.
