    I remember falling asleep the night of that infamous money match after trying to stay up for it for hours. Heartbroken that I missed it personally, but I'm so glad it happened for the people who were awake to see it. Legendary set.

      It was the definition of "you had to be there." I don't think I've ever been that hype about a fighting game set since

    I never watch max's stream but I remember I saw him playing GG and wanted to check it out and within the first few minutes the instant kill disconnect happened and I couldn't stop laughing at how angry that made him, it definitely wasn't the slayer that made him lose his mind hahaha

    i used to love watching hotashi in strive, then one day i remember there was nago nerf and i never saw him make a top 8 since then, i am seriously not trying to be disrespectful because i really liked watching him win but if someone can explain to me what happened then please fill me in! i feel like nbhmr just replaced him, hotashi was so fun to watch in top 8's because he actually brought personality to the stage

      I'm just speculating here based on what Hotashi and others say. Hotashi and Sajam both say that Hotashi doesn't play optimally. He plays a very aggressive game and wants to overwhelm you with offense and momentum and force scrambles and RPS (and even toss in some really suboptimal stuff that looks flashy), this is where he thrives. Sajam uses the analogy of Mang0 from SSBM, Mang0 doesn't play optimally, he plays aggressive and even throws in flashy stylish stuff that is extremely risky. The combination of aggression and style is what makes Hotashi so fun to watch (just like Mang0 in SSBM).
      S1 Nago had safe or even +2 on block Beyblade if spaced. Hotashi could Beyblade and force an RPS situation in his favour. Hotashi thrived off this interaction, he's exceptional in the scramble, the RPS, and coupled with Nago's high health and damage, forcing the Beyblade RPS was key to Hotashi's success. Watch Hotashi vs Daru the EVO he won; he gets so many bites off of Beyblade, which is fake now, but a real threat in S1. Outside Beyblade, S1 Nago also had low reaching 2H (2H covered the whole screen and couldn't be low profiled), which Hotashi also tossed out liberally, and spammable 2S, which used to combo into Beyblade and 6H and then you could fukyo to be meaty... this no longer works as 6H isn't special cancelable, and Beyblade blowback on hit is huge and you'll only get that 2S->Beyblade-> 6H combo by spending blood on fukyo or being in the corner.
      S2 Nago people would argue was even stronger than S1 Nago, however, Beyblade became -3 on block. Hotashi himself said "It's the end of an era, I can no longer force RPS with Beyblade." Even though S2 Nago got enhanced normals that lead to NBNHMR's success with his slow and methodical and optimal playstyle involving safe jumps never seen on Nago before, Hotashi suffered as Beyblade and to a lesser extent 2H were gutted. 2S also became non-spammable later in the season.
      Hotashi was also playing and grinding less in S2. In S1, you could tune in almost daily and find Hotashi playing Nago. In S2, he was playing other games and only on every now and then. He also picked up Bridgett, and while a nasty Bridgett, never saw the success he had with S1 Nago. Occasionally he pops back onto Nago but mostly just abuses low hitting Beyblade and the overhead from DP to do fun and fancy blood rage combos that are nowhere near optimal. I still enjoy watching his Nago, its silly fun watching the high/low into blood rage shenanigans, but it's definitely not optimal.

      @Mattvieir 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@prestoncook9302 True. You can see from Nbhmr and Verix that Nago is still a very powerful character. Hotashi plays in a very risky way (albeit very entertaining) and, unfortunately, makes him lose matches that he would otherwise win if he played more conservatively.

    • @prestoncook9302
      @prestoncook9302 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@Mattvieir I do love the risky and wildness though, that's what makes him Hotashi and so entertaining to watch. Passionate with no ego is a rare combo too, Hotashi uploads his losses constantly and I respect the hell out of that. Even this video hes taking Ls but says "its not about the W, it's about being there, in the moment, being a part of it" and I think that's a great way to go about life in general.
