OpenCpn has limited tools than the ECDIS we used onboard, but we can still add some information in the ENC manually using the drop marks. For the lines such as PPI, no go areas, and some points necessary to be labeled in the the passage plan, we can use the new route and draw a lines manually. There are plug-ins available in the OpenCpn but I never explore it. For those who have installed plug-ins that can be used to add such information, fell free to share it. Thank you.
Thank you for your request! I’m currently looking for some resources that will help me create a detailed passage plan for navigating the Singapore Strait. Once I have the right setup, I’ll definitely work on making that video.
OpenCPN has limited features for directly plotting great circle routes as curved lines. However, you can plot a modified great circle track using multiple rhumb lines to approximate the curve. This involves creating several waypoints along the great circle route and connecting them with rhumb lines to form a segmented path that closely follows the desired great circle track.
@nauticalacademy001 I tried it, but it doesnt load anything. My screen just freezes. I mean, I have a pretty decent laptop with ryzen 7 etc, so the specs are not the problem
Thanks for your question! I haven’t tried installing ENCs on a Mac yet, so I can’t confirm if it works. If you do give it a try, feel free to share your experience here!
Hi! Unfortunately, only water areas have available ENCs, as these are specifically designed for use by ships. Land areas like Iraq are not typically covered by ENCs for maritime navigation.

How do I plot great circle routes on this ECDIS?

Hey, brother, I've been searching for Iraqi electronic maps and they're nowhere to be found, so I'm asking if I can find them if you have them.
