Cool stuff Rick!! I own a '88 Esprit Turbo. I had an oil in coolant leak, in my case the problem was the gasket between the head and intake manifold which is water cooled in our cars.
Thanks. I looked the intake manifold very carefully....it is not the problem. That would have been preferable though. Hopefully know more in a weeks time or so.
I said it right at the beginning of your journey. This car needs a full nut and bolt, body-off restoration. It should have been the initial approach because a lot of time and effort has already been wasted on trying to repair things in situ. And considering the work ahead, you need to spend time and energy wisely. It's not that it would be nice to make it perfect by doing a body off restoration, it's that it's absolutely necessary with your car because it's is a fully abused and neglected car. Anything you decide not to recondition while you have it apart will haunt you forever during the rest of your ownership. If you had bought an Esprit that was just old and tired, you wouldn't need to do the big resto, but you bought a basket case and signed up for what that involves. You should send the engine and gearbox to experts to be complete disassembled and checked over. Anything made of rubber should be replaced. Cheap Esprits need deep pockets and a very determined owner. Most basket cases get sold on years after initial disassembly because the buyer didn't have the money, talent, and determination to see it through. We are all hoping you have what it takes because it's fun watching your videos.
That's looking like the direction this will now go. I need a garage and a lift to do this though...I don't want to continue to do this in my driveway. I will likely look for a space rental that I can purchase a mid rise lift for. Nothing imminent to happen though as time is an issue.
@@Rick_D Agree that you need a better workspace! The last couple of Esprit basket case restorations I was following seemed to have stalled out, and they had a ton of financial and equipment resources, and tons of automotive restoration experience, so you’ll be the Cinderella Kid if you pull this off!
