We need more channels like this. I love it. It makes us feel like we aren’t alone.
Excluding cost, the best Asian suburbs are undoubtably 626, OC, Santa Clara/San Mateo Counties, Northern New Jersey, and Queens. These are the only places you can live a completely Asian lifestyle without needing to assimilate. If you're really feeling homesick, there are numerous nonstop flights back to the motherland.
If low cost, homeownership, and warm weather are priorities, Houston, Las Vegas, Sacramento, and eastern SGV are great options. You can still kind of live in an Asian bubble.
For academically minded, high earning professionals: Seattle (Bellevue, Redmond); NoVa/Maryland; Dallas (Plano, Irving, Carrollton); Chicago (Naperville, Oak Brook); Boston (Acton, Newton, Quincy). Asians are highly visible, but some degree of assimilation is needed.
Spot on
Can't exclude "Cost" that is one of the biggest factors for most.
Shout out New Jersey. It's #3/#4 in population Asian and % Asian. Their state university also enrolls the most Asians for a university outside of California (fourth most overall, behind Berk, Irvine, and SD). People sleep on NJ's Asian communities.
You forgot to say Arlington and Cambridge,Lexington,Waltham those are cities for all of the professionals to live in.
@@Django19 I live in Northern NJ and it's basically a paradise for Asian Americans. You have access to every Asian supermarket, restaurants, communities, etc. But the truth of the matter is, it's expensive AF. Buying a home in Northern/Central NJ is the most expensive in the country, compared to a comparable suburb in just about every other state. However, the public schools are the best in the country and it's super safe and nice. You just better be prepared to spend a ton of money, if you aren't in a high earning profession, it's not really a viable option for most.
Burnaby, BC Canada is insanely expensive, also it doesn’t snow that much there. In general, non-Canadians are clueless about what true snowfall levels are considered “a lot”. Anyway, this video was very informative and I’m really happy that it was created. It’s also nice to know that there is someone else out there who likes to deep dive into stats and data about this stuff.
Irvine is the most glamorous. It is well maintained with high end Asian supermarkets, super clean, and the people are of a higher class. Not trying to sound classist but you will see the overall difference in comparison to other Asian cities.
However, in comparison with main cities that are actually in Asia, Irvine is really not worth it. High property tax, high Mello-Roos Fee, high sales tax, need HOA for almost all properties, and you still need a car for grocery shopping. Then the only good part is it's just safer and comes with a lot more afterschool places than other "American" cities. No other advantages.. No river across the town, not quite by the sea, and no main supporting industry around it, cos the biggest industry out there is actually Real Estate.... I mean those so-called conveniences can be easily fulfilled in any main cities in Asia with 50% lower living cost: Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, Tokyo, Yokohama, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, etc
@@TYZyi5ss You're completely missing the point. The people in this discussion are looking for places in the US, talking about cities in mainland China are clearly not an option and the standard of living is FAR worse than just about every single other option. Not to mention, you can't just move to China in a permanent manner very easily - especially if you're not even Chinese to begin with. Some of those places like Tokyo and Singapore could be even more expensive and have the same barriers as the Chinese cities. Moving to a completely different country is not a helpful suggestion.
@@KingKong11730 I understand the video's title is American Cities. But the video itself even mentions other cities in the world. Why can I? Also, Tokyo is not expensive at all and probably is one of the most affordable cities across all the developed countries. Do your own research and don't feel you have to get stuck in the US. Same thing for Singapore. It really depends on how you start your career in Singapore. It's only expensive when you're a foreigner. After you get their Perm card, the living cost is 80% lower.... Also, how can you say the living standard in China is "FAR worse". I'm laughing my ass off. What do you think China is? Just open your eyes. Its actual living standard is way higher than Singapore and Tokyo, especially when it comes to food and grocery. Because those 2 cities still need vegetables and meat import. But China doesn't. It's the largest export country. Food is so good and cheap. If you really live on a US meal, hey US / German supermarkets are available in Beijing and Shanghai with items purely imported with the same price in the US as well. Chinese people go, and that's not like high-end and people can't afford... Also, Shanghai and Beijing have a lot of subsidies on public transportation. Bullet Trains and Cellphone Pay are everywhere and super convenient that westerners can't even imagine. Living in China is not hard as you imagine either. You can get a job and even buy a property in China with no problem. China is the real powerhouse in Asia, and all the other countries including Japan, Korea and Singapore are pretty much all having China as the biggest export country. You might ask then why Chinese are still immigrating to the US.. Hey that's exactly your advantage as a US passport holder, with English background and Asian face to earn money in the biggest international market in Beijing and Shanghai. That's like New York level cities when it comes to almost all the aspects but with very low living costs. Lots of foreign companies' offices in Beijing and Shanghai do global pay, similar to the US. Again as a foreigner, it's not hard at all.... The US passport is only powerful when it's used overseas. You are Asian, and you want to make full use of it especially in Asia. Go abroad, open your eyes and see the world. When you're in the US, your US passport is useless
Old Daly City joke:

A: Because all the Filipinos are working their rice cooker!
It's 51F on most days when the rest of the world is on fire. I prefer Daly City :).

If money is not an issue, Irvine, California, is my top choice.
Lots of cute Asian women there. I am in Northern Ca, and women from Irvine are always selecting.
Probably every Asians ideal choice.
This is the answer. But definitely not low cost!
San Gabriel valley would be better. Better food and isn’t as boring.
I work in Irvine and there are many good Asian restaurants and shops. If money was not an issue, I would rather be down on the coast in Newport Beach or Huntington Beach. Little Saigon and Garden Grove Ktown is only 20 minutes away.
Sacramento and its surrounding areas have a bunch of Ranch99 stores. As a white guy, I’m highly appreciative of our Asian stores and markets. Best fresh fish around!
I'm from NOVA now living in OC, I agree, Asian population in NOVA is definitely increasing rapidly, I remember back in the early 2000, I had to drive 30 mins to go to H Mart. NOVA is mostly Koreans, Filipinos, and Vietnamese. MD is mostly Chinese.
If you're taking about Duluth, Ga you have Chamblee, Johns Creek, and Norcross where more Chinese/Taiwanese are
Duluth Ga is very under-rated for asians of a lot of stripes. Even has an H-mart, every varity of korean, viet and chinese marts, and of course, a Costco.
I almost ended up moving there. I ❤️ Duluth Ga
Costco, H mart (Korean), Walmart, Great Wall Market( Chinese), Desi Brothers (Indian) , Jusgo Market (Vietnamese) and More. All in Duluth GA
There’s also Mega Mart and Zion market. Nearby Suwanee and Johns Creek are also good options. There are over so many good Korean restaurants in Duluth, Suwanee, and Doraville.
Excellent. We are moving to Duluth next year.
Yea but everybody moving out of Duluth, the commercial settlement still remains though. Most Asians moving up north toward Suwanee and Buford now.
Edison, NJ! Cherry Hill, NJ! Bergen County, NJ!
New Jersey is really slept on for its Asian communities but it makes sense if you think about all the NYC and Philly Asians moving to the burbs.
where do u work?
@@productionoutagespeople in those towns usually work in NYC or Philly with the local trains going into those cities. NJ is also well known for big pharma and telecomm industries. A lot of banks' back offices are also in NJ.
Those areas are just satellites areas of NYC. They all commute to NYC.
definitely Vegas, asian food, bubba, supermarket, costco, summer lake and mt. charleston snow in winter, redrock hiking, plenty activities to do.
Spring mountain road has the most authentic Asian food in the city
Grew up in Rosemead, Monterey Park. Moved to Elk Grove, CA sacramento for 10 years. Now back in Eastvale, CA. Both Elk Grove and Eastvale are low cost, costco, boba shops, chinese supermarkets, Asian restaurants. Most importantly, no snow.
Many had said it - SACRAMENTO is NOT part of the BAY area!!! Due to more & more people move to Sac from the Bay, now the week day traffic from Sac to Bay can easily over 2hrs.
Plus, local Sac people HATE Bay people now cause they drove the house price insanely high. Most residents are mid-income state employees. They can't afford getting house or rent anymore.
Growing up in the Bay Area, I understand now why it was so easy to fit in as an immigrant from Hong Kong.
Elk Grove, CA It has a Costco, a casino, Apple Computer, lots of Asian restaurants, and 37% Asian. 😂
Shush.. 🤫🤫🤫
Elk Grove has definitely changed over the past couple of decades. It used to be a cowboy town with lots of racism. Now they have tons of things to offer, and is also a great place to get a home to raise a family, while still close enough to the greater Sacramento area, Central Valley, Tahoe, and the Bay Area. If I'm a single person who craves to be around professionals and do things I'd rather stay out around Sac, close to Mid-Town, whereas if I'm in a relationship and wanting to settle down/raise a family, Elk Grove is a far better option.
Elk Grove has Asian mayor, Asian vice mayor, Asian State Assembly person. Costco is the Asian gathering spot.
shhhhh, keep it on the low 😅
Please be quiet about Elk Grove. I am Asian American and resident in Elk Grove CA for close to 30 years. So many people from bay area have moved to EG in the last five to ten years. Man.
As a Bangladesh 🇧🇩 considering Asian..I love mine Korean and Asian brothers and sister ❤
As someone in the Washington, DC area, I can vouch for Maryland and Virginia. Specifically, Montgomery County in Maryland and Fairfax County in Virginia, the two counties that surround DC. Montgomery County leans more Chinese and Fairfax County leans more Korean and Vietnamese. But, there's a good mix. Both counties have a sizable Asian population and are very diverse overall. Asian singles, young families, older Asians. Any Asian would fit in around here. We have Costco, 99 Ranch, H-Mart, Lotte, etc. It does snow around here; but, during the winter, it snows infrequently and the snow totals aren't too big.
In addition to that I would add Howard County too. Lots of Asian in Columbia and Ellicott City.
By far, the most affordable options are the Houston, TX suburbs of Sugar Land and Katy.
Hot, high crime, flood, tornado. No way Houston area
@@thomaskim5008you obviously never been to Houston. Hot 4 months of the year. Perfect weather 8 months of the year.
@@skygrey7237 You are wrong. I have been to Houston many times when I lived in San Antonio. Hot humid summer for 5 months. I am talking about near 100f. High crime. Flood. Hurricane. You are delusional. You have no clue what is a great weather as you have never been to California
@@thomaskim5008 houston is like all major big cities. It has high crime areas and areas where it’s absolutely very safe. You never lived in Houston being from San Antonio so you know crap. Cali weather on the coast is nice. But away from the coast California is a desert and gets hot like Phoenix 4 months of the year also. You know that right? Cali is also unaffordable for most Asians who are working multiple jobs to afford a home and a car. You also know that right? There are also a lot of racism’s against Asians in California. You also know that, correct? In Houston, it may be hot 4 months of the year, but it’s cheap and hardly any bias against Asians. This video is about where is the best place for Asians. Stop putting down cities that you have never lived in.
@@skygrey7237 Asians are the 3rd largest group in California, after Latinos and Whites... so discrimination is equal opportunity.... it is VERY different from what you, as an Asian, feels like, when you are in the South. There, in the Deep South --- except for a few very large cosmopolitan areas --- people still treat the FEW Asians they come across both as a strange/exotic being and someone to pat the head with ("good boy, you little China man").
Again, if you live in California, you KNOW there are so many Asians, Asians are against Asians, Asians are against others; others are against Asians (especially in to schools), and others are against one another, too... because everywhere is PACKED to the brim... especially the desired coastal areas, from San Diego, to Irvine, Long Beach, Riverside,... all the way up to San Jose and SF, where every other human being seems to be an Asian of some type.
Indeed, in San Jose, in most of the better neighborhoods, you might as well pretend you're somewhere in Asia, with "quite a few Whites and Latino tourists." That's the density of Asians is... in many cities and enclaves in California.
That means, of course, you're literally living like termites (3 to 4 people), because every one is seemingly willing to go into depression ---- by living with debts and nothing but hopes (of the future getting better, if you work from dawn to dusk, doing some meaningless technical job) --- in order to get a tiny but safe place that costs $5,000 to $8,000 a month.
For $5,000 to $8,000 a month, you LITERALLY live like a second cousin of the King of Thailand or the 3rd cousin of the Sultan of Brunei, in the rest of the USA as well as, in 99.9% places in the world...
Dallas is a great place for Asians. There’s a Korean spa that’s awesome! There’s also a Chinese bbq skewer place, highly recommend open till 2am. I think there’s a lot of Korean and Chinese there.
Sacramento is not part of the Bay… lol! It’s like 1.5-2 hours from the Bay.
Exactly! Sacramento is in the Valley, which more affordable and better than the arrogant overly elitist coastal cities.

@@ivandragomiloff2356100% correct.
@@Stay___Strong Fung Bros being typical LA types…geographically insular and obtuse
yeah but no jobs there and you have to drive everywhere. better to live where the jobs are at.
Anywhere with little crime, good schools, lots of Asian food, business friendly and no B.S is where I wanna live
Cupertino, California is well-known in Silicon Valley for attracting families who value best schools and low crime.
Houston for sure. Great weather 8 months a year. Hot for 4 months. But with all the money that you save, you can vacation in Colorado or California in the summertime.
If you are looking for somewhere that is actually affordable (I define that as you can find a decent starter home for less than $500,000) I would recommend the Phoenix, AZ area. They have a Ranch 99, an H Mart many Costco locations and Gen has at least 2 locations in the area.
A sleeper one would be Troy or Novi, Michigan which both are suburb of Detroit. Both are 27% Asian however the school district is 40-50% Asian. Both are getting more expensive but still relatively affordable compared to the coasts. You have all your major city amenities without the crazy traffic as well as you have a lot of Asian amenities such as H-Mart, Miniso, Bambu, Kura-Sushi, Tous Les Jours, Kung Fu Tea, and all your major boba brands.
Sacramento is definitely not part of the Bay Area. This is coming from a Bay Area native.
Dallas area, aka DFW is relatively affordable if you are bringing in money from someplace like NY or CA, but home prices and overall costs such as insurance and property taxes have skyrocketed. Property taxes are reassessed every year with a cap of 10%.
Cities north of Dallas are getting very expensive. Cities west and south of Dallas can still find some cheaper places but the days of 200k-300k for a decent home that is newer with plenty of space are long gone.
In Philly, theres an area thats becoming the 2nd Chinatown. Alot of NY transplants. Still small but its growing
Mesa, Chandler and Glendale AZ. That's where a lot AA families reside.
Chandler has the mix because of Intel, Amkor and noe TSMC.
1/2 Thai and just recently moved to Mesa...never realized how large the Asian population is here in the Valley.
I’ve only been to the states (mostly in Cali in the Bay Area as well as Sonomoa county, Petaluma area) 2 times visiting some family but never once have they told me that Sacramento is part of the Bay Area lol.
Queens NYC, it’s more on the expensive side but honestly with climate change it hasn’t really snowed in NYC that much in the last like 5 years and winters aren’t really that cold anymore. If you make more than 80k a year you could afford a small studio, or live with friends/family/roommates and make at least 45k. Queens has everything.
I am probably the richest Asian in Irvine, CA at minimum wage. We paid off our 3 bedroom home. If you paid off your home at Irvine, minimum wage is enough. Costco is really everywhere. Sam's Club is here too. Irvine is ridiculous when families earn $250k per year with a $1 to $2 million home loan. Even though I am earning minimum wage, $250k per year income is a pitiful income with a $2 million home loan.
California, Washington, Virginia, and Texas.
Nah, New Mexico is perfect for Asians its has less than 3m people.
Your observation about Duluth is spot on! It’s mainly Korean! The dominant Asians in GA are definitely Korean and Vietnamese!
vegas has the hawaii Asians and polynesians moving there!!
Lots of Phillipinos
Lots of people from Saipan (CNMI) Guam and Hawaii moving there both Asians and Pacific Islanders such as Filipinos and Chamorros
Can’t wait to move to Las Vegas!!! There’s a lot of Philippine restaurants and sea food city!!!
We have four coscos in the St Louis area. And where I live which is forty mins away from the StLouis metro area I have noticed more Asian. There is even a Chinese Baptist Church up the street from me.I have also noticed when I am out and about Im beging to see Asian families at the malls ice cream stores home depot ect ect.I am saying this because in this Mo county just two yrs ago this would have been rare. The change is noticeable. But Ive not only notice the Asian moving to these small perdominately white towns there are other nationality moving in to.Well all I can say It is exciting.I guess people are moving here because the cost of living is somewhat reasonable and some what slow. But like anywhere else if you want get in trouble its here to just like any where else stick with the right folks.
*I know I'm going to catch hate from my State. But AZ. Specifically Mesa and Chandler. Asian people are taking over those areas like sweet and sour on chicken. Dobson Road is basically little Asia.*
I agree with this one. I (Asian male) moved here with my wife (black female) recently from the SF Bay area and love it. The weather is a little rough (especially for my industry since I have to be outside all the time), but so much more affordable. I bought a house recently and not long after an old friend of mine bought one in the SF Bay area. My house is less than half the price, newer and bigger.
if You can deal with the heat in Summer, Las Vegas is an ideal place ,no state income taxes & lot of Asia foods...
What about Summerlin west and north west? It’s supposed be cooler because of the higher elevation
The Fung boys dont sound very well traveled. Lol.

As long as WC, ABZ, TRG, and CTB aren't shooting up Tap on Valley maybe it's good. But then again you got your kids growing up with cholos and being cholofied at MKP or Rosemead HS. LOL. So is the cost worth it? Surely your kids deserve better like Pelican Hill in OC.
Naperville, Illinois. 20% Asian, 2 costcos, great schools, H mart, Chinese supermarkets. Asian restaurants, some snow. But with the global warming getting worse, maybe it is a good choice. Most importantly, the housing is relatively affordable.
Anybody know if Carson City Nevada is a good place? It’s close to Reno and Lake Tahoe but cheaper. Not many Asians but as long as people are friendly and not narrow minded it’s fine with me.
I vote for Montgomery County Maryland (Rockville, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Bethesda, Potomac, Silver Spring). We have Costco, H-Mart, Lotte, GW Mart, NY Mart, 99 Ranch, and more. We also have tons of Boba shops (Tiger Sugar, Kung Fu Tea, Yi Fang, BobaPop, Gongcha, and more). We have top high schools in the nation (Poolesville, Churchill, Wootton). And not much snow!
Howard county is better
Shreveport, LA has lots of Vietnamese
OKC, Tulsa, NWA it's all growing. Hmong people migrated there to chicken farm, egg farm, and grow weed.
Highly recommend Oakland, Richmond and Emeryville California 👍
Asians are getting attacked in Oakland because the original Oaklanders assume that Asian Americans have money. If you read the original Oaklanders' TH-cam and Twitter comments, they label Asian American as unwelcome "invaders" of "their neighborhoods" in Oakland. They are angry that Asians open up shops that cater to Oakland's Black population (e.g. hair products/services). If you have elderly Asian parents, then advise them to stay indoors once the sun sets if you live in Oakland. The knock out game has been going on for more than a decade in the Oakland/SF area, where youths from gangs brag about their ability to knock out elderly Asians with a single sucker punch to the elderly Asians' heads. If safety is high on anybody's list, then think twice before moving to Oakland.
Sacramento is not in the Bay Area. Its close, a few hours drive, but its not in the Bay Area.
Indianapolis, Indiana. Very huge Vietnamese community there, mainly newly arrived Vietnamese from Vietnam like FOP (Fresh Of the Plane).

RGV is a great region if y'all want to marry into the Latino/Hispanic culture. There are several asian marts with a small, but growing asian community in Harlingen and McAllen, Tx. If ya'll want large asian communities then best to stay in metropolitan areas, but I recommend to stay out of DEEP East and Central Texas. There are historical sundown towns that still exist to this day.

I am visiting Duluth / Johns Creek GA from LA. Its mix of Fullerton, Arcadia, Irvine. Big Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese population. Also great school system. Better than most of California. Home prices are reasonable and much more cleaner than California. And I lived in OC, LA, Ventura county for last 40 years.
Sure, but then you'd have to live in Georgia. Besides being the South, those summers aren't a joke.
@bazimyan today was supposed to be super hot here. Not too bad compared to Cali Inland.
@@bazimyan doesn't matter, all Chinese people wanna do is stay indoors, door dash, and be outdoors only to wash their Teslas!
@@latlj1283 the difference is that California has dry heat, unlike the East Coast and the South so it's far easier to get cool and avoid it. I'd take a 100 degrees California heat anytime over Georgia's 90 degree heat since that'll inevitably come with humidity.
@@bazimyan You are correct. but Atlanta was over 95 today and it was not very humid. By the way some humidity is good for your skin. Also a great air quality with a beautiful blue sky and cotton clouds. lol. Don't get me wrong, Southern California cities along the ocean has the best weather in the world.
I've lived in MD just outside of Washington DC for 40+ years. It is heavily Asian. The city of Rockville is like a spread-out Chinatown, with banks displaying Chinese names. We don't get much snow anymore.
I live in Houston,Tx and im black. You can be yourself and live comfortably here. You dont have to be the southern stereo type!
just dont open a wig store?
Super sleeper picks: Troy MI, Schaumburg and Naperville IL
I just moved to NoVA (Centreville/Fairfax/Annandale area) from Irvine and I found my apartment by looking up H Mart locations 🤣I saw so many asians at the Live Maryland casino it felt like a SoCal casino.
lol here in northern Virginia. I live in Herndon/ centreville. Lots of Asians here, leesburg as well! Yup MD casino lol that’s mostly Asians.
Counties outside of Philly. Montgomery or bucks county. Lots of Asians are moving there.
I like first-world Northeast Asians so it's South Korea and Japan for me.
If I have to be in the West, then Vancouver or the Asian parts of California like Irvine, LA Koreatown, San Gabriel Valley in SoCal or Cupertino/Fremont/Santa Clara/Palo Alto in NoCal.
Torrance/Gardena CA
Santa Ana is ghetto. I wouldn't move to Seattle either. Asians in Alhambra and Monterey Park can't drive. I would move to Irvine or Arcadia, if you can afford it. If not, move to LV, NV or Plano, TX. Everyone is moving out of SF and LA CA. My friend left PV CA, cashed out and moved to San Antonio, TX.
Toyota's hq moved from Torrance, CA to Plano.
I can confirm that Duluth Georgia has a large amount of asians, tons of places to eat around there. I live about 45 minutes from Duluth.
I always felt like Portland Oregon had a strong Asian community, especially in the Jade District. I'm not sure about the status on the Costco's there though.
Don't forget Ohio. Shreveport is in Louisiana near Dallas, Texas. Loads of Asians are where they are because of jobs.
Should title it “Best American cities outside of California for Asian families”
Long Island New York has mad Asians
Hurricanes, NorEasters and mad snow
@@G1Duane I'm from LI, we barely have any hurricanes if anything they're just rains storms. And bc of global warming, we haven't had a nor'easter or crazy snow storm in a lonnnng time
@@jenl6625 Not just rain storms. I lived in Rockland County, NY 30 mins from NYC and we feel all the Hurricanes that pass through. I'm glad I moved.
Brentwood, located in the Bay Area, boasts a snow-free, warm summer climate, good schools, and relatively affordable homes compared to other Bay Area cities. A new Costco has been approved and is set to open in 2025, with convenient access to the BART. The area is family-oriented and safe, with lots of outdoor activities.
San Juan, PR
Las Vegas, Costco, seafood city, Jollibee, low property tax.
One of my SF buddies who visited me was impressed with Asian neighborhoods in Dallas area...he was shocked to see more AMWFs bc that's non-existent in the Bay lol
Chandler, Arizona
Cambridge,MA
Elk Grove, CA in Sacramento county
