DiddlieWinks Technically I suppose, but never heard of it and I'm born and raised in Hawaii. Guess the older generations had so much good fish that they never really used parrotfish for sashimi as it's not as good as ahi etc... it's less fatty and a reef fish the feeds on seaweed off the reef and shits sand lol. It's great for the fire and frying, a flaky fish, just never tried it sashimi style, which I just may try the next time. This was interesting to watch.
I love the fact that the chef stopped to throw a peace sign after cutting'up the fish lol. But that fried fish, the crispy, flaky texture makes me want fish even more.
We eat this in Hawai'i it's called poke 'uhu it's very yummy, we crush the liver add onion roasted kukui nuts ogo seaweed sesame oil ginger nioi and soy sauce and Hawaiian salt.....so good!
When I was snorkeling in Okinawa, I was swimming on a coral reef and I wondered what type of fish it was. It stood out of all the fishes that were swimming. :)
Here in New Zealand we have banded wrasse a similar species and very sweet cooked.Hadn't thought of trying as a raw fish.Must try with several raw fish methods,ie marinated in lemon juice then into sour creme and coconut cream and another way is how polynesians would've eaten during sea voyages... dipped in sea water then into the mouth.
Fabian Velasquez It should have no taste, because the fish has to be very fresh. The taste comes from the vinegar in the rice. But the texture is amazing. You should try it, is amazing!!
Of course it should have a specific taste! Otherwise you could eat tofu on rice instead. Tuna, salmon, butterfisch, eel, squid, octopus, shrimp, sea urchin,... every kind of sushi/sashimi has a pronounced own taste!
nut that water is re purified and then recycled. Unlike in America where it just goes down the drain and into the sewer system to be dumped into a river.
Azael Gomez yes there are treatment plants that breakdown the waste and attempt to kill all the bacteria. But these plants are so old and are in need of updates. Studies have shown not all the bad bacteria is killed by the time it gets to the Gulf of Mexico.
WaterspoutsOfTheDeep and white people don't do the same nasty shit? you must be delusional if you don't think that other races are as nasty or even nastier.
can someone please tell me why you put lime on fish? im not asking from an angry point of view im asking from a confused one, what does it make it taste? sweeter, brings out flavour or????
Why don't fishmongers and people who prepare fish donate the fish guts and excess bits of fish to animals who eat fish? One man's waste is another man's treasure
THESE POOR FISH. OH GOD BRUTALLY KILLED WHILE STILL ALIVE, IN FRONT OF THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AS WELL. HOW RUDE. I BET THEY EVEN ASSUMED HIS GENDER. LMAO
this comment may annoy you but actually eating parrot fish really cause environment effect. 1. parrot fish meat taste awful, not as good as snapper or cod. 2. we cant breed them, it grows and have food chain in reef area. if we consume them too much, reef will die as well as other living things there. you can just eat other fish and have a good diving trip right? or you expect to dive and see dead reef.
snowflakes 98 if you do the research, due to unlimited fishing, their sea is not crowded with fish anymore include whales and dolphin killing feast. and they do import fish cost $ 500M each year. do you think it's ok to do fishery for fish we cant breed? because ignorant people think like you cause animals extinction.
+coffee lover true. I'd rather eat sashimi than some KFC in most states as they are all genetically modified and don't even taste like real chicken. I would know because my family raised chickens from when I wasn't even born to the age of 14
I don't get it. Do you buy a fish, they cut it up for you then cook a whole bunch of stuff for a price or what. How does this work? Most video start by weighing the fish. Anywho
I like the color that the fish had
can't eat colors tho
you can if you take LSD
Dominator Gaming lol
I actually hate those fishes... they always shit on me when I'm diving.

Caught and eaten these my whole life and never knew you could get a good sashimi out of it... Cool stuff
malaihiboi can't you get sashimi out of any fish?
DiddlieWinks Technically I suppose, but never heard of it and I'm born and raised in Hawaii. Guess the older generations had so much good fish that they never really used parrotfish for sashimi as it's not as good as ahi etc... it's less fatty and a reef fish the feeds on seaweed off the reef and shits sand lol. It's great for the fire and frying, a flaky fish, just never tried it sashimi style, which I just may try the next time. This was interesting to watch.
DiddlieWinks You can, but not every sashimi out of every fish will taste good. Some people might like it but overall tastes better some other way.
I enjoy traveling with you in these vlogs! maybe one day I can travel with you in person and enjoy some of those tasty dishes😊
Global Dreaming wouldn't that be a dream!
I love the fact that the chef stopped to throw a peace sign after cutting'up the fish lol. But that fried fish, the crispy, flaky texture makes me want fish even more.

What are those white noodles looking things on the display boat? I see them all the time. Are they for decoration or can you eat them?
khaki91 Some kind of vegetables. Mostly for decoration, but yes, you can eat them.

What does raw fish, sushi taste like??? I have never tried sushi.. ever! and would like to know...👀
Fabian Velasquez It should have no taste, because the fish has to be very fresh. The taste comes from the vinegar in the rice. But the texture is amazing. You should try it, is amazing!!
Ahhh interesting
Of course it should have a specific taste! Otherwise you could eat tofu on rice instead. Tuna, salmon, butterfisch, eel, squid, octopus, shrimp, sea urchin,... every kind of sushi/sashimi has a pronounced own taste!

how many gals. of water need for sashimi?
nut that water is re purified and then recycled. Unlike in America where it just goes down the drain and into the sewer system to be dumped into a river.
eludethis and pumped into a water purifier and put back into the city. don't hate if you don't know mate
Azael Gomez yeah sure buddy. American's cities along the Mississippi dump right into the river. That river goes straight into the ocean.
Azael Gomez yes there are treatment plants that breakdown the waste and attempt to kill all the bacteria. But these plants are so old and are in need of updates. Studies have shown not all the bad bacteria is killed by the time it gets to the Gulf of Mexico.
eludethis most rivers lead to the ocean, pal. The city has man made reservoirs just for that purpose.
I wonder if it tastes as good as it looks.
Filet skills out of this world!
Ooh It's A Pretty Fish! ^^
Which city is this ?
That was a cool reaction when she added hot water to the filet

WaterspoutsOfTheDeep and white people don't do the same nasty shit? you must be delusional if you don't think that other races are as nasty or even nastier.
What was the sashimi like?
Definitely did not expect that Japanese guy to speak English. I thought uploader is a Japanese man but maybe I was wrong.
Fido Saurus Most countries teach english in schools because it is the worlds dominate language
Naaah, as an amateur fisherman who doesn't even eat fish, i can easily say i would fillet and prepare that fish in a much more elegant way.
Leopold III If it was my job, sadly(?) yes.
you're basically underemployed.
***** Yes? The gutting and filleting of the fish was horrible still?
yes, it does seem like the issue is not caring enough. Why are you all up in arms over this? This is fact?
She's trash with the knife.
can someone please tell me why you put lime on fish? im not asking from an angry point of view im asking from a confused one, what does it make it taste? sweeter, brings out flavour or????
Mom I want a mini boat with food in it. Plz
leave the scales on, toss it on a grill, make a dip made of soy sauce and lemon with chili. thats how you eat a parrot fish.
costs ?
personally I would like to know pricing for stuff like this so I know how much I would need if I ever wanted to visit Japan
omg. they really do eat everything
how does it taste?
if you like fried or curry fish , the parrotfish is an awesome choice. the flesh is tender and a bit sweet.
Ikura desu ka?
Does this actually taste good?
Why don't fishmongers and people who prepare fish donate the fish guts and excess bits of fish to animals who eat fish? One man's waste is another man's treasure
That market is fucking huge
rafael santiago you cannot say that or you’ll go to hell if your dead
waiting for someone who care about fish feeling .
THESE POOR FISH. OH GOD BRUTALLY KILLED WHILE STILL ALIVE, IN FRONT OF THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AS WELL. HOW RUDE. I BET THEY EVEN ASSUMED HIS GENDER. LMAO
next someone would care about the feelings of the water molecules

You travel a lot mannnn
Hehe that man at 6:58.
when it comes to cleaning and cutting fish/shellfish, japanese are good at it. they make sure its clean..5s
this comment may annoy you but actually eating parrot fish really cause environment effect. 1. parrot fish meat taste awful, not as good as snapper or cod. 2. we cant breed them, it grows and have food chain in reef area. if we consume them too much, reef will die as well as other living things there. you can just eat other fish and have a good diving trip right? or you expect to dive and see dead reef.
Thank you
duelbuster123 so true
duelbuster123 true but fyi, japan has lots of fish anyway, they have warm sea temperature which fish like. so i think, its kind of okay?
snowflakes 98 if you do the research, due to unlimited fishing, their sea is not crowded with fish anymore include whales and dolphin killing feast. and they do import fish cost $ 500M each year. do you think it's ok to do fishery for fish we cant breed? because ignorant people think like you cause animals extinction.
I remember my family had a parrot fish as a pet in a salt water aquarium. I never thought people ate them.
that is one beautiful fish .. i wouldn't eat that
Those knives must be sharp af
Me so hungryyy now!
the sanitation seems not acceptable. are the standards different in asia?
I'd rather eat there then some KFC in the states
+coffee lover true. I'd rather eat sashimi than some KFC in most states as they are all genetically modified and don't even taste like real chicken. I would know because my family raised chickens from when I wasn't even born to the age of 14
good taste?
I oppose preparing sashimi with cement mixing gloves...
So many people are so opinionated and have never even filleted a parrotfish
6:58 LOL
Nemo's uncle isn't gunna kill himself ya know
skiie savage
Huh. I would have thought that parrotfish was a bit more like carp/koi. Where it's mostly bones and little meat.
Any raw crab or lobster videos
It shrunk when she poured hot water on it!! Every fish does that?? 😮😮😮
That fish looked evil at first and I was all like FISH OF SATAN
Yummy Yummy

Seth Fyou Still looking down on women in this day and age? Do you have no respect for you mother? Someone is single minded.

Seth Fyou 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
But the fish is so beautiful
I don't get it. Do you buy a fish, they cut it up for you then cook a whole bunch of stuff for a price or what. How does this work? Most video start by weighing the fish. Anywho
