    This is what you get when religion beliefs have direct access to politics. Women being barred of education, laws banning abortions being pushed for, etc.
    I have no qualms about people having religions, nor have any doubts about the benefits of religions, but political secularism is important.
    Edit: This comment is not just targeted at Islam countries. The example above on banning of abortion is referring to christian extremists in the USA as well.

    Islam declares all people equal in terms of human values - Islam also encourages education for all. What these Taliban are doing is against the very core principles of our faith, as a Muslim, to support such behaviour would be hypocrisy to our religion.
    That being said, I am truly sorry for what has happened in Afghanistan and hope the best for all. I do not wish to offend anyone here so please forgive me if I may sound rude.

    I'm from India. After watching this video I feel really bad for the women's and teenage girls of Afghan. They are deprived of many things. Parks and gyms are bearable but deprivation from education is very disgusting.

    I'm truly ashamed of myself. Because I have all these apportunities and resources handed to me on platter by my parents and I'm wasting so much time.
    Watching these women's struggle makes me really sad and motivated to do the best I can from what I have.
    I read a book series named "The Breadwinner" when I was 15. It is one of my most favourites. I hope one day, when I've done something for myself, I'll be able to help the people to at least have an option at persuing academics. Education is how everything can be rectified. It needs to be free of cost.

    Why do people fail to understand what religion is all about?! The religious rules were created and meant to be followed to promote and maintain peace and harmony (According to what the founder(s) felt were right), not for the sake of "devotion".     I respect what people believe in but I feel like religions just like cultures should grow and evolve with time as it’s always changing. It’s hard to make people follow rules and scripts from hundreds or thousands of years ago if people have the same beliefs for thousand of years nothing will change and ever get better.

    The reason they are still learning is because they still have hope. The government is saying that they are not banning them from education, but they are working on making an Islamic system of education for them. It is taking too long though but what can we do, expect being patient and just wait.

    I guarantee their kids and grandkids wont be happy when their parents chose to remain behind while other countries march ahead and prosper. They will have so much to catch on to. On the other hand giving women opportunity to study in english is going to give them huge view on other countries compared to them, and that alone can influence westernisation. You cant just limit half of the population and think they have no influence.

      I’m not from any western country so I apologize in advance.
      Islam declares all people equal in terms of human values - Islam also encourages education for all. What these Taliban are doing is against the very core principles of our faith, as a Muslim, to support such behaviour would be hypocrisy to our religion.
      That being said, I am truly sorry for what has happened in Afghanistan and hope the best for all. I do not wish to offend you either so please forgive me if I may sound rude.

    Being a Muslim myself , I know that this is indeed abusing the normal human right. Even in Quran , the first word that Allah mentioned is “Iqra” which is translated as “read” . This mean that Allah really want human to gain knowledge but all this men ,certainly don’t implement the concept correctly. No gender is superior than other . That why we have both men and women in a community. This men certainly thought that women are not more than just use to give birth to babies , doing all the housework and that’s all .
