- Why do you wear a habit? What’s a Rood Screen? What is a book every Catholic should read? How do you prepare for a homily? Are you a Jedi?
As preachers and teachers, Dominicans get asked a lot of questions.
Join Dominican brothers (and real-life brothers), Fathers Simon and Jonah Teller as they answer these questions-and many others-during an inside look at the Dominican House of Studies.
Tour the St. Thomas Chapel and practicum studios, St. Joseph Chapel, main chapel, monastic cloister, academic center, and library - home to over 65,000 books and an antiphonarium from the 1600s! (What’s an antiphonarium?) Get your questions answered on this upbeat tour with the Teller brothers!
I wanted to be a priest as a young boy and turned down the chance to study in Rome in the 6th grade. It is my biggest personal regret. Even today my bedroom resembles a chapel. This video brings joy to my soul. Thank you for sharing.
He works in mysterious ways.
Please tells us fools what you're doing in you're bedroom that's so enjoyable
Go!!!
Why not revisit it?
Having 2 sons ordained as priests, what a blessing.
I hope they have other siblings so their parents can be grandparents.
@@jowillowcat6044 Maybe they will be like Sts. Zélie and Louis Martin
THESE MEN ARE SO BLESSED TO BE FRIARS OF THE ORDER OF PRECHERS. AS IM BLESSED TO BE LAY DOMINICAN 🙏❤
I loved this tour! I visited the Dominican House of Studies last Halloween for the all souls service, which I loved. I’m starting to discern whether to become a Dominican sister so please pray for me :)
Wonderful! Thank you from an old Third Order Dominican; I am always supporting you with my prayers (St. Joseph Province). St. Rose of Lima , ora pro nobis.
This was wonderful - thank you for sharing your world with us ❤
this is such a pleasant video. Very well produced too!
I´m a Greek Orthodox in south america but i have a great admiration for the Dominican Order i hope one day we become one Universal Church again
We ARE one universal church; the church never splits!!!
May God speed the day!
Great to know 2 siblings are both ordained priests. Their parents bred them so properly
@@RussellSilver-tl6tduhhh, what? Rimming? Do you mean the sex act?
Bred them?
They are people, not horses.
bred…☠️
bred is wild…
Fr Simon, I live in Cincinnati and loved seeing the Priests a nuns of St Gertrude in Cincinnati when I went to school In the morning
The Dominicans, particularly my homeroom teacher, Sister Dominica (irony ik) helped save me here on the Aquinas Campus in nashville ,TN. God Bless - i am truly astonished by the grace and patience they gave to such a lost soul. Thank you from my the bottom of my soul from a heart i once thought would be closed forever.
God bless you Fathers. Don’t forget St. Cecilia!!
Please use gloves on that beautiful prayer song book 🥹🙏
What wonderful young men They lift my sprit listening to them God and Mary enfold them❤
Wow. Blood brothers who are Dominican brothers as well. How blessed is their mother. I am jealous. Haha. I wish my son would become a holy priest someday but His will be done. God bless all clerics!
I was taught by Dominicans. Thankyou, wonderful video!

This was very well done Fathers. I was able to go to the Dominican house of studies this past December and it was wonderful.
Actually I like to call dominicans "the jedis of Our Lady" 😅. Blessings.
Very powerful interaction indeed! God bless you young friars; you give our church a promise of a great future. I enjoyed watching your interview. Quite spiritually stimulating and informative.
Lord bless you my Brothers in Christ i do really admire the Real Dominican faith brothers
Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio is a wonderful Catholic University founded by the Brothers of Christian Instruction in 1960.
2 priests in one family, how blessed
Interesting video. What were your parents’ reaction to two sons entering the priesthood? Do you have other siblings?
Tue parents had no regard for their sons welfare
San Martín de Porres
The music was very American. Was it library music or specially composed?
I LOVE it, the St. Joseph Altar is set up to say the Latin Mass!
I love how traditional everything looks. It's so beautiful. When I visited with the Dominicans 10 years ago, none of them ever wore habits and the place looked so lifeless and sterile.
Really?The same place?
I studied there.....but was never a Dominican...
Wow, this is so really holy. How can i join the society i feel like God is calling me to priesthood
What a lovely video, full of information 😊🙏🏻 Blessings from Peru 🕊
Was St Martin de Porres a dominican?
He was a Dominican lay brother as a 'cooperator brother.'
Very good information
Thank you my brothers.
GOD bless Fathers
Wish I lived near this center, I’d be there all the time.
Right?? I’d give anything to go to Mass in the big Chapel. That altar!!!!💕🙏📿
❤❤❤
Thank you for showing us your convent
I enjoyed this video very much.
Your parents are truely blessed wd two priests in the family.
Very well done.
❤⛪🙏♥️AMEN
Thank you!
💙
God bless always❤
A couple of observations...as a former benedictine monastic. The use of the term "lay people" came out of nowhere, and it seems odd considering how little the interviewer purports to know. The second thought was touching that ancient book without gloves. Whaaaaat was he thinking? The oil on one's hands interacts with the old paper or parchment, and not in great ways. Two sweet guys though.
Thank you for everything! And thank you for the priests’ parent for raising them so well! God bless you all!
Can anyone tell me where is this Chapel located? Thanks!
Washington DC, USA
May God Bless 🙏🙏🙏🌹📿
Great video, thanks for sharing and God bless you all with more vocations.
Well done!
A wonderful video. I’d love to join this order but I’m afraid I’m too old :(
if our Lord is calling you to the priesthood, pursue it. St Faustina and many others had setbacks but still pursued :) so if it's to be, God will make the way.
I knew a Cistercian monk who joined the order after his wife died and had a family he was very happy in fact I was talking to him one day and he said to me look out at that view I have every day a millionaire couldn’t afford it
It was into a part of the garden next to n apple orchard and it was spring time and the daffodils were in bloom. His monastery was in roscrea county Tipperary Ireland the monastery is county Offaly just on the Tipperary border. They have a guesthouse there where anyone can stay for week or so and can call into the church for the prayers
Mount St. Joseph Monastery roscrea also you can watch glenstall abbey on church services they have a live camera in their church
@@mixielotthank you so much for your comment. I’m not really able to pursue religious life right now due to family and financial obligations but I’m considering joining the Third Order/Lay Dominican chapter in my area. God bless you.
I loved the "tour". I see a lot of Dominican videos and have wondered what the House of Studies was like. I really enjoyed all the information.
I wish I knew that you have daily community meditation and that that chapel is open to public to join you in prayer at certain times. A couple of months ago, I was in that area for a vacation.
❤❤❤
Very compelling. I do like the thought of O.P. after my name.
Awesome. Love from Catholic Indonesia.
Espero que santo domingo gusman les ayude en su vocación
💥🌺🌹🌻💫⭐🌟
GREAT❤😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH FATHER.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU
you two sound like an advertisement! Praying for all.
nice reflection!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you Fathers for an informative and fun video!
Beautiful. Do the friars live here for many years ?
Good.show.thankyou🇬🇧😇
True Brothers ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Awesome!! ❤
🙏🙏🙏
Thank You. And yes I would mention among those great Dominican Saints a St. Hyacint of Poland for His apostolic work and miracle in Ukraine and Kiev now when the war rages there. Ave florum flos Hycinthe... I used to live and pray by His grave in Cracow.
Go Ashville. Wow.
❤
I wanted to become a Saint Joseph Province Dominican… (My mentor and spiritual director was Father Val LaFrance, OP - AND - I had four (4) Aunts who were Adrian Dominican Sisters!).... When I attended a “come and see“ weekend at the House of Studies, DC (I had just finished my Masters Degree in Music / Liturgy) … I was absolutely shocked & heartbroken at how rude and belittling the brothers who were there at the time were... not just to me… But to several other wonderful young men who really were hoping to find peace & welcome! I am now a fully professed Franciscan Brother. I very much remember how hurt & abandoned I felt when I left DC!!!… Now when a young man approaches me with the same interests & questions I had… I go out of my way to let him know that everyone has gifts to bring to the church of God… Regardless of race, color, orientation, and education level.
You sound like a good human, brother!
- a young man looking for his place in church and society
Dominican priests are intellectuals and like kitchen equipment. They are deep friars.
😂😂😂
Jesus shut off the volume for me because you are deceived. Mary cannot protect anyone-Only God and Jesus can protect and they send their angels.
The blessed virgin Mary and Saint Joseph protected Jesus.
Bellissimo
The older brother looked proud of his younger brother.
Btw, Theology and Sanity is a good rec. I'm re-reading Theology for Beginners by Frank Sheed again.
May God bless these Dominicans! I love Frank Sheed and am SO glad to hear his book recommended by one of the priests.
I thought Dominicans wore black and white and Benedictines wore all white. No?
Dominicans and Franciscans are my favourite monastic orders...i was baptized (as a baby), did my first communion and attended a Roman catholic junior high school in Ottawa...But have been consciously Roman catholic since age 18 when i had some wondrous faith experiences while living at the YMCA...My christian faith has evolved in time...i am now 64 years of age...And if someone asks me what my denomination is i answer: My head is protestant, my heart is Roman catholic and my soul is eastern orthodox...Why my head is protestant?...One example: I am certain that our Creator (He/She>see the original Aramaic words of the 'Lord's Prayer' as Jesus taught us>'Our Father/Mother who art in Heaven...') is offended by our depicting Jesus as a suffering man nailed to the cross...It would be like having the foto of a murdered child on the wall...the parents would find that horrifying and disgusting...Christians only started depicting Jesus suffering on the cross in the 6th century...and before that the christian cross symbol (many variants) did not have a suffering (white) Jesus on it...BECAUSE HE IS RISEN...also the distribution of holy body parts has nothing to do with true christianity but is folk devotion...John 4:24, Jesus states, "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." This teaching implies that worship is not limited to a specific location or ritual but is rather a matter of the heart and obedience to His commands. Greetings from the Netherlands🌞 p.s. i heard your wonderful Dominican House of Studies choir singing on Radio Maria here in the Netherlands...heavenly music!
Dominicans are not in fact a monastic order. They are initialy clergy gathered around bishop in a community that adopted some of monastic rules (premonstratens) in order to do a fruitful apostolic work of preaching. Undertaking challenging tasks in the Church they are in a way similar and competing, and complementary order to Jesuits appearing in hard times. Monastic orders can but not neccessary have to do an apostolic work depending on their rules and charisma.
Good video but a point, you don't just say Mass, you Offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
I love catholic chapels. I visit a Salesian one last weekend for a moment of prayer and it felted very special. I'm protestant but as an artist, I admire your art and liturgy.
Very cool. I'd love to be a Holy priest, but I'm not strong enough.
Isn’t the Lord your strength? Phil 4:13??
I really don't like that there can even be teasing within these religious sects. I believe that belongs in the outside world. Not in groups or organizations based on holiness.
Get a life.....teasing, joking....plan something: make God laugh
Jesus laughed. He wants us to be joyful!!!
The library has anti theft sensors lol😂
