- "LEAVING ALL THINGS BEHIND" is a Dominican vocation video from the Dominican Province of St. Joseph, the Eastern Province in the United States of America. Filmed at St. Gertrude Priory in Cincinnati, Ohio in August of 2010. This video has footage of the largest class of Novices in 44 years for the Eastern Dominican Province. As of 2016, the province has the 2nd largest formation program in the entire Dominican order worldwide.

I really want to be a dominican friar when i grow up
i am a franciscan, but i love brother dominican too,the spirituality :)
St. Thomas Aquinas, Pray for us.
Very impressed with this video. I can see a good liturgical sense among these brothers, and probably this community in general. I'm impressed to see Communion given to the novices kneeling. It's a little thing, but for younger guys today it means a lot.
God bless you Brothers! I have a very special place in my heart for the Dominican Friars as I am seriously discerning religious life in the Dominican order. Know that for all men discerning any form of consecrated life you have a spiritual mother praying and fighting for you!
thanks for these wonderful videos....truly inspiring.....I too am discerning to be a priest....please pray that i be a good priest one day.......
Hey there im 17 and I have so much desire to be holy and I can feel the calling of the lord as I seek him in prayer. Could somewone of you help me and mention or name all the catholic friar orders like these. Truly, our Lord wants us to be totally pure. No sinner will go to heaven.
This year, 2013, has been a year of despair for me as I see our social fabric being dissolved, and the comments of the friar at 7:39 have been the deepest and most meaningful words of encouragement that I have heard in months and months.
It was nice to see young men happy and joyful, to serve the Lord. It is true, "Many are called and few are Chosen." May God Bless the Dominicans in all their spiritual endeavors.
I have a GREAT devotion to St. Dominic after belonging to St. Gertrude Parish in Madeira, Ohio for 10 years. The best, holy experience of my life!!!!!!!!
Father Whitt's comments, beginning at 7:00, are extraordinary powerful and deeply touch my heart.
o.p. order of preachers....aka the dominicans....we need more gospel based preaching
Excellent! St. Thomas Aquinas O.P. pray for us ! What a great order!!!!
Your words are amazing. Only God could call a young person out of this horrible culture and world. May God bless you, and anyone else discerning a vocation, now and always.
I feel the same way. I am still discerning though.
We just recently said goodbye to our two Dominican Priests last week. One has been here at my parish of Saint Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Tx. since 1986. The other one had been here since 1957! Their order called them back to Spain due to a shortage of vocations. We now have a Diocesan priest. He has two BIG pair of shoes to fill!
This is so amazing.
Lovely video, my brothers.

¡Wonderful video! We share our vocational video with english subtitles, hope you enjoy it. ¡We pray for dominican vocations worldwide!
Very very interesting, there are many things that resemble in the Buddhist tradition, although the philosophy might be different, the practice of love, compassion, and many other beautiful things are very much the same. From the prostration to the altar, the using of a rosary, receiving monastic vows from your teacher.. and the simple beautiful life that radiates after that once becoming a monk. Much respect, much love fellow brothers and sisters _/\_
@hansmys what made you feel a call to this order?
Lovely video, my brothers.

you need a college degree if you wish to be a priest or two years of college or full time work to be a lay brother.
Sanctus Dominicus prayer for us.
@williamwallac94 Stay very close to Our Lady and if it is Gods will for you, then you will enter the order. I'll pray for you.
