      In one way I agree, it looks like a hospital waiting room that's not been touched since the 70s, but it also looks fairly authentic to an actual medieval knight's look, I can imagine someone in this get up on the bayeux tapestry, you know?

      JANKEN ! Definitely something to know for next time, I guess when working with such a large surface I should have thought about it more like painting a piece of wood. Small minis don’t usually have any issues with this.

  • @a.wilson4809

    When you first started laying down that green I thought we were in for a rave themed titan but it ended up looking really regal and worked brilliantly with all the weathering. Amazing work. I can't believe you managed to keep the amount of weathering, colour and quality consistent over such a vast area.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      If it was my personal Titan I would have gone nuts lol. But in this case Josh and I agreed on the colors before I started.
      The nice thing about trying to be consistent over so much area is that the color pallet was limited, so if anything got out of hand I could go back with another color and tidy up. It worked out really well for sure :)

  • @Yeeren
    @Yeeren 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Truly a God-Machine. I know some people here dislike the choice of colors, but I actually like it - I imagine the various Titan Legions would have wildly varying color shcemes, not always bold or GRIMDARK colors. Makes it feel more realistic in a sense, less like a Saturday-morning cartoon.

  • @odin741

    It's important to seal in your base colors with gloss varnish before using any weathering involving white spirits. This is to stop your colors flaking away from the resin and undoing your work. It also helps when you're going back in to fine-tune your streaks and making them "clean" adjustments.
    I took 18 months to paint my Warlord! I reasoned that for the cost, it had to have maximum effort put into it to justify the expense lol. I went all out with weathering and battle-damage since a titan would be a prime target and would take fire, but not overdo it- remember that less is more when it comes to damage! It can be fun adding old rust, new rust, streaks and grime, paint-chipping, soot and corrosion to show age and use and adds a lot of history and character...

    When doing the heat discoloring technique you should take into account the thickness of the different parts of the barrel, due to aircooling many parts like ridges and indrectly attached rods would not reach a high enough temperature and thus retain a lower heat color or no discoloring at all.
    Just looks a bit weird in my opinion.

    Some advice. When you're trying to do the heated metal look, barrel heats up from firing. First spray on a base of Metallic Titanium or Metallic Silver enamel. Then do light coats of the fading effect colors. Just enough to get the look but not so much it covers the metallic. I build model airplanes and this is how I do engine exhaust cowlings. The same effect can be applied to cannons and such. It looks fantastically realistic when you finish.

    When I do heat effects on metal I like to use thinned blue,purple,black inks over a silver\chrome basecoat.

    When doing metal effects like this I like to use metallic mediums to thin the colours down and I generally start with a very light ink glaze for the first coat before moving back to acrylics for the rest.

    Normally, Videos like that tend to be very dry, this however was fun and intriguing till the End. You done did the IoM good, Git

      @@eBayMiniatureRescues Only constructive Critique I can say is that you might need a better Camera, but it could've also been my Connection (Sometimes it looked a bit grainy or blurred). Also, I subbed and show this Channel to a Friend who wants to start painting and collecting

      Absolutely!
      Everything is filmed with my iPhone X. I’m starting to hit the point where I really need to get a new camera. I can’t get in close enough sometimes and it’s pretty annoying seeing grainy footage in ‘4k’

      @@eBayMiniatureRescues Also, in the upwards shot in the End were little Lags. I hope you can find something that wont eat up all your Money. Corridor Crew did a lot on Cameras lately, you will find some Tips there

      TwoBlade5 There are some great channels that focus on cameras and equipment. The funny thing is, I own a bunch of video production equipment, but I’m always leaving the house with it for jobs, so I need to save up for a dedicated mini filming camera setup. Sooner or later I will have saved up enough to get the appropriate stuff for mini painting, hopefully sooner lol

    Those AK Interactive products are absolutely amazing - buying those has changed my immersive wants from figures into wanting to make a 12x4 table of Cities of Death terrain with some industrial elements mixed in. Doing the math has shaken me but seriously I might have to do it - I want a table of 8 story buildings so much for who knows what reason. My wife says if I get a workshop/gaming club area that’s not the house to go ahead - but I don’t think she realizes I was talking of buildings more than her moms house value

      They are very good. Every time I look at a project I try and think of ways to use them. A huge ruined city would make for a fantastic board, time to build a shed in the back and get to work :)
