- I’m calling this my mini-of-the-month for February and it was a fun project. After the flip through I share my cover-making process, but it’s not a step-by-step tutorial. The beauty of this type of file folder cover is that it can easily be altered to suit your needs. Thank you for watching and happy creating.

@@CoriDahmen so true. There is never enough hours in the day. I am just playing with watercolour and I happen to be doing daffodils. They were my mothers favourite. What’s not to like about a sunny daffodil they just put a smile on my face. Can’t wait to see your book 😊

Oh I really like this idea of the machine sewn inserts alternated with pages. Hmm, it has some interesting possibilities for incorporating pieces with a bit more heft that need some additional support. I lucked into a stash of about 25 little observers books. They look so pretty on my shelf that I have only cut up one so far!

I just love that you made a mini just for yellow flowers. LOL! I love how the yellow pops out, especially this time of the year when everything is dull, gray, and cold.
That sweet little book had a slew of yellow wild flower images and they just asked nicely for their own journal. Who am I to say no?!

What a gorgeous book. I love all the great idea you put in. I am new to you so I wonder if you have a video on how you made all the clear wild flowers there so beautiful. Like what material you use. And how do you sew such small pieces. You amazing darling and I greatly appreciate your work. I have saved so many of your video. And I love your voice so calming and sweet.
Thank you and welcome! I'm honestly not sure about the wildflowers, but probably. I dry the flowers then put them between two sheets of transparency and sew .I have a video that shows how I do a similar technique to make dried flower pockets.

So many great little things to look at in this journal, so many good ideas. I am working on putting together my second “Cori” journal which I intend to use as a yearly family scrapbook. Another awesome mini journal, Cori! Thank you for sharing it with us! I love the way you have added extra width to your cover. I believe you have inspired me with a solution to make scrapbook card wider than 12 inches, so that when it’s folded for a cover it can be wider to cater for our A4 folded in half and not require trimming of the A4 to fit. I will have to play around and see how it goes. I might be onto a solution or not. 🤞😀💞

This book is gorgeous and I chuckled when you said you had to look through one of your idea journals for a particular page - I do that a lot too because you have a ton of great ideas; some of which I’ve put in my idea journals. 😘

Love this, Cori. This is the first time I have seen a completed journal of yours with alternating book pages and inserts. I really like the combination of these in one journal! I got the general idea, but have you ever shown how to put one of these together step by step? Mainly, I'm interested in the construction of the inserts themselves. I hope I am explaining my question clearly.
Thank you Jeanne, and yes, your question is very clear. This was a new concept/construction for me so I've not shared it before. I've not seen it either, but since everything has been done, I'm certain there are similar ones out there. I enjoyed making a journal like this, so I will add a how-to video to my make list.

How did you stick the tracing paper to the card stock you used to prevent it wrinkling? Just discovered you and you have such a lot of new ideas for me. Your videos will keep me occupied for hours. ❤
LOL. Busy is good! I always flatten my coffee dyed tracing paper before I use it, then, when I glue it to cardstock, I smooth it out with an ice scraper then I run it through a hot laminator to compress it. There are occasional wrinkles, but that system usually works pretty well.

Thank you Pam, and there is my page link. I *think* it was a folio you shared on a FB group a few years ago that encouraged me to buy black file folders! So, thank you! I pretty much sew in everything with my machine these days. It is fast and easy and sturdy. So, yes, those book pages were sewn in with a machine, between the file folder inserts. So, basically a page every 1/8".

Hi Karen! I used regular office tape/cellophane tape and added caramel and latter alcohol ink to it. I saw a demo on Tonya Samuels’ channel a while back.

You are too sweet. I occasionally sell items I've made on Etsy, but I intend to close my Etsy due to a variety of reasons. When I have things available I will share here and let folks know. I've recently had better luck with Paypal, so maybe I'll go that route.
