The Gato Box menus look _clean as fuck_ I dunno if there's a name for it, but a minimalist base with flashy fx over the top of it to keep it from being stale is such a baller aesthetic.
Inspiring to see the real power of doing game jam stuff and just trying to improve while going with the flow, at least that's what I initially try to do lol I'm happy to see whatever you end up doing, your content radiates with something really unique and genuine which is something that I can only say is really lacking on this website 🤟
Looks great I think making an streamlined system would be amazing for the long run and was a great idea. Just wondering you use the term engine and template interchangeably, is the Gato box a game template made in Godot as a project starting point, is it a branch of the Godot Engine with custom built functionality or is it a different thing entirely?
Thanks for asking! To be specific, GatoBox is a template made in the godot engine, that contains a set of assets and plugins that are useful for game development! The extent to which it will modify the base code of the engine is TBD. Godot has so much built into it for native extensibility I don't think there is ever that much of a reason to fork the engine itself. The next episode will cover more of these plugins and work I've done so far in detail.
calling it an engine is misleading since your using godot, more like its your game framework. i dont know if framework is 100% the right term but other people use it so its probably right
Something about this game looks pure. Like it came straight out of your soul
the visual style of all your projects is absolutely nuts, i love it

@@horsedev sounds interesting, keep up the good work!
I think that’s a great idea that will save so much time and streamline stuff that you know you would want as a base starting line to build from
