The guitar was excellent in this video! You could tell even though he did his stuff, he listened to Ron and Ron listened to him. The guitar provided that jazzy bossa Spanish flavor and the double bass gave that melting, warm jazz feel. Definitely, Ron Carter plays like a "True" Double Bass player!!!

@@RonCarterBassist Mr.Carter, thank you for your wonderful response. When I first discovered you on TH-cam, I was looking for the recording of The Shadow of you Smile, by Tony Bennett. I saw your picture playing your instrument with the same title and decided to listen. The way that you played your instrument, the tones emanating there from, and how well it blended with the beautiful piano, was just so magical. That music your were part of, is the best jazz that I think anyone who has a smidgeon of class, could ever hope for. You were classy, magical, and the expressions on your face while playing, told me so much about how profound a person and musician you are. I could go on for days. Let me just say thank you for your desire to share your talent with us all. I adore you and God bless you every day.
Bobby Broom ! Yeah really playing great rhythm guitar and Ron is incredible just wish I had the cash to get a bass that nice set up that well . Top class . Nice suits
Luiz Bonfa's Samba De Orfeu (Samba De Orpheus) from the film "Black Orpheus" (1959). In many ways the musical score led the way for the bossa nova explosion that was to follow a few years later, and served as an introduction to the music of Bonfa, Vinicius De Moraes and Antonio Carlos Jobim. The haunting melody of Manha De Carnaval was also written for this film, and can be heard on David Grisman's CD "Dawganova". 5:05 [Mandozine]
Only people who don't know the real Spirit OS Samba who are criticizing the Bobby Broom's playing. He was fantastic, that was the real deal, he made it samba-funcky and but cached de Spirit of real Brazilian samba .
The guitar part didn't sound good but it was due to two factors, one being that the Jazz box guitar was basically playing acoustic and didn't have any volume of the pickups and the electric clean jazz tone that we are familiar with....the second factor is that the bass and guitar seemed to be playing two different songs at one time...neither were bad , but they just didn't sound like they go together
Always loved this tune and also the talented Ron Carter. Sadly the balance is out on this sound track. Seems that the guitarist is the soloist its so loud.

Guitar tone sounds thin and clangy... Seems like the mix as well is all over the place, especially on the bass. Great trio tho
