Laverne Walk (Oscar Pettiford) Ronn Carter (b) Mulgrew Miller (p) Bobby Broom (g) Ron Carter Trio en concert au festival Jazz sous les Pommiers le 3 juin 2011
Masters at the top of their game! I would encourage listeners who are missing the drums to listen again. The intro and melody have rubato moments, which are dissonant, expressive, and intentionally out of time. Once they get into the solos these guys are so in the pocket of the rhythm it should make you feel the drums even though there are none. #realswing
A fine experiment with lacking results. This video shows what happens when you remove the drums from jazz. There is no bottom holding down the band, and the guys are trying to aid Ron's arrangement.
I agree, Ofcours they are very skilled musicians, but the instruments are not balanced volume-vise, and I feel there should be a stronger sence of beat in a song like this.
LOVE IT!!!
Great! Ron Carter and Mulgrew Miller top! Good Broom too!
And, thank you for posting talvernajazz - SR
Ah... Mulgrew. Instantly recognizable sound. Just heard of his passing. From one Miller to another, you will be missed.
Deeply missed indeed. Lovely comment, Mr. Miller. - SR
they groove like mad! on the trapeze without the drummer's safety net
Fantastico!
Great performance! I miss Mulgrew....

Hey Dylan!
anyone who can't hear the beat in here is not listening. Drums not needed at all
Groove for days.... sorry drummers, go get a snack and a coloring book. .
