Excellent vid. I have a fascination with Submarines and submarine warfare, so these games are of great interest to me, I have just Bought Raiders of the Deep. And this has helped me get a better understanding of the game
Great "Let's Play"! I'd be really interested to see you play through an escort encounter. Also, I think I noticed one error - the rules say only small freighters can be taken as prizes. If I recall, the prize you took was a large freighter. 38:07 In real life, the Anglo-Californian's captain got a posthumous Victoria Cross for his successful attempt, on 4 July 1915, to save his cargo from the U-boat attack! ( uboat.net/wwi/ships_hit/310.html ) So you changed history! :D
Thanks Prometheus! Doh, I should have known it was too good to be true to collect all that prize tonnage. That is an awesome bit of history. That's one (of the many) reasons I love wargames. You learn new things about "real" history while also having the potential to change it.
The Hunters is 33 euros, The Hunted is 55 euros, and Raiders of the deep is 120 euros. Why such a significant difference in price for what is technically the same game?
I don't work for Compass Games, so I don't have an answer for you, unfortunately. I can only speculate. Lower production run? Higher quality components? Use of a more expensive domestic printer instead of a Chinese printer? Who knows.
@@WayneHansen Thanks for your answer. I own the 3rd printing of the Hunters and the quality is very good. Well, GMT is always very good. Compass Games have a tendency to beef up the prices of their games, though. Great review anyway!
2 and 1/2 years after this video, I finally have the game on the table. Thanks for posting.
Bahaha... better late than never! It's a good game, hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for the video Wayne....Good Job. I haven't played this in a few years now and plan on doing so. Your video helped me refresh the old mind.
Rolling for patrols so much more fun!

I'm glad it helped Stephen! I think Raiders of the Deep is an underrated game.
Great video, thanks a lot! Btw: z. S. means "zur See" in German, i.e. "at sea", so your guy is a "Lieutenant at sea".
This was excellent. Thank you for posting it!
And thank you for the kind comment! I have another patrol I just uploaded as well. I bend the rules a little bit to show an encounter with an escort.
Dude, Thank you! Very helpful!
Glad to hear it David! Man, I miss these sub games. I need to get playing them again. Maybe one of Greg Smith's?
i'll have to buy it.

14:00 to skip to the start of the patrol. You're welcome.
Thank you for show, but zoom problems make many elements invisible or unreadable
I'll go back in time four years to 2018 me and let him know to step up his production game ;)
Looks a lot like "Hunters". Not saying thats bad very similar mechanics and flow of play. I am thinking about picking it up.
Yep, the designer said he wanted to make a Hunters style game but set in WW1. He succeeded, it's a good game.
