Awesome to hear. I actually looked up a pronunciation and used it for the full video, and then the publisher told me I'd used the Americanized pronunciation (should have checked that website more closely when I looked it up) so I decided to go back and rerecord the audio for every time I said it in order to get it right. So it feels great to hear that you appreciated that extra work, and that you didn't even notice :)
Started playing the game after watching another how to video but got stuck with several questions. This video answered them all and more. Great tutorial. You have a new subscriber.
I do believe you answered all my questions, and even learned a few new things that I have missed in the manual. Thanks for explaining this game very clearly!
I was so happy to receive my game that the next day I set it up and four of us gave it a whirl. The quality of the game pieces, especially with the bonus metal coins from being a Kickstarter, are the nicest I've seen in a board/card game. We worked our way through the First Taste learning the first round and then while we were a bit lost taking off on our own from there, we quickly got the hang of it and had a blast playing. Lots of mistakes were made as we are new to the game but I can really see the many strategies we could take in future plays... and there will be plenty of future plays! Best Kickstarter I ever decided to back. Well done, Paterson Games!
Ha, I'm glad you liked that because it was a pile of work. I always try to look up pronunciations in games when I am unsure, and I did that for Cachaça before filming. The issue is, the pronunciation the internet told me was the American one! So I recorded the whole thing using the wrong pronunciation, and it was only brought to my attention by the publisher when they checked it. So I went back and rerecorded myself saying Cachaça correctly and overdubbed every mispronunciation. It was a pain, but it made the video far better, and I'm glad you appreciated this element of it!
I've bookmarked this video for when my copy arrives. The update predicts soon. I don't remember when I backed it, but it really feels like it's been a journey for this game to get here and I can finally see the end.
AT around the 46 minute mark when you are deciding what to buy you forgot your power gives you a $2 discount, you could have went a different direction there.
This is the main Kickstarter I regret not backing, and I debated with myself during the campaign. I still wonder if the gameplay will start to get stale after 10+ plays, but it sure looks like a game both my wife and I would enjoy.
Great teach!! At 58 min when the master distiller triggered should it have been 2 spirit pts instead of one because you had an identicle region and label or is that only for end game scoring?
Great presentation! I think though, like others have stated, that it would be good if you made an extended video where you finished the rest of the 7 rounds. Hope you will find the energy to do that!
I'm glad you enjoyed this. Unfortunately, I rarely make full playthrus anymore since they take far too much time and generally don't get that many views on TH-cam.
Great playthrough and teaching! But I think you forget to slide the rightmost card in the market to the truck and reveal the new ones from the deck after each of the end of the market phase. And as for the Master Blender (1:05:27) for the end game scoring: "2 SP for every two identical spirit labels". You already have two identical spirit labels of Cachaca, I think you should get 4 SP instead of just 2 SP, but please CMIIW.
Hmm, I'm not sure about the sliding of the rightmost card timing. Do you have a specific timestamp? I honestly don't remember the specific rules for this game since it's been a couple of months. For your second point, I think it's 2 points per pair, not 2 points per item in the pair.
@@JonGetsGames 15:50 & 49:15, sorry my fault, you already did it, maybe I got mixed up with someone else's video. And yes, as for the Master Blender, I agree with you.
Hello, and compliment for your video training, it is really good and clear. it is helping me a lot deciding if I must invest my money to buy it. I have a question, if it is possible to have an answer. Why you slide the market card when some is discarded if the price is not depending from the card position? thanks for answer.
I'm glad you found this video informative. Unfortunately, it's been too long since I posted this for me to remember the game well enough to answer your question.
Love how thematic this is, I'm just afraid that there's not enough variability in the gameplay to make each game feel unique. Seems like you'll be doing the same things in every game and it will not age like a fine wine. EDIT: Folks on BGG convinced me to give this is a shot. I'll be acquiring it soon. Thanks for the tutorial! :)
It seems to me a little like Castles of Burgundy in that yes, luck can break a turn, but good play sets you up to minimise the chances of this. If you have a back-up recipe, then you can still make that. If you bought extra cards of the vital elements, it's much less likely/impossible to have your turn broken by shuffle luck. And you can buy cards that minimise of mitigate bad effects. So, if you don't do any of this, then really you were pushing your luck.
As a brazilian guy, I say your cachaça pronunciation is absolutly on point Jon! Saúde! 🍻

Você é muito dedicado! Obrigado por um outro trabalho magnífico!

I'm glad you found this helpful :)
I sat down and taught myself about 90% of this game. This video really made the last bits extremely clear. Thank you!
As always, a perfect explanation. Just started a game on BGA and took my turns as you played out the two rounds. Thanks so much!
Thanks for this playthrough. I missed a couple of things before watching this video.

I am blown away by how thematic all of the game elements are. I'm heartily regretting not backing it on KS!
It just hit retail :D
Loving the hair Jon, its nice to see you putting some of that time that good project management is giving you into maintaining that luxurious mane!
Lol
From a gameplay standpoint, becoming one of your patreon supporters, was a brilliant decision on my part. Not to brag.
Aw, thanks!
Mine arrives day after tomorrow! Perfect timing. Thanks for all you do!!
Great to hear, this video was intentionally timed to coincide with KS backers getting their copies :)
Superb tutorial, as usual. Congratz for the "Cachaça" pronunciation, spot on!

Great teach, Jon! As always.
Damn you're good Jon.
Thanks for the overview, I am eager to get started with this game and your video helped me a lot!
Thanks for the video. I was definitely very helpful :)
This is the 1st game that has come out in recent memory that I'm very interested in picking up.
Too bad it wasn't a full playthrough. This game seems damn amazing. I'll test it on TTS before making my mind but I am sold already

53:08 - Why didn't the yellow player do his special recipe? Can the special ingredient be used to make other recipes? Thx
You can use the special ingredient in other recipes.
Thanks.
First!
Thanks for the content
I love the wash bag randomness but I find it hard to explain to players who are trying to make a specific recipe.
That seems like some harsh randomness in the middle of a long, complex game.
Thematically it works, but could be gamebreaking if you're unlucky.

Very good tutorial. Less hands sweeping across the screen would have been nice. Pointing a card, no problem. Thank you.

You should speak a little slow....since you intent to teach.
