    I think this is what many of us have been waiting for from Tamiya for years. At last something original, cool with scale looks. I can’t wait and it seems already there is almost nothing but universal praise and positivity towards it.

      Yes, this is included in most Tamiya modern kits nowadays. My M08 has it, and it's in the manual: it's a transponder bracket support

    • @ninthislandrc
      @ninthislandrc ปีที่แล้ว

      On one hand, I am in agreement, as that is exactly what this looks like. However, on the other hand, those types of transponders are typically only used by shops renting for races, and I don't see these buggies as being race competitively. Except for the possibility of racing in Japan, I don't see these fitting into any race class anywhere else in the world.

    • @YoShImUrA53

    Thank you Gavin. This is epic. Tamiya back on form. I've been disappointed with most Tamiya kits, and once I'd bought all the ones I wanted from the 80's I struggled to find anything else I liked. This is a new 'old' kit and what I would expect from a Tamiya. Will be getting one of these without doubt. Maybe two so I can keep one and run one

      I'm getting that from tamiya and others: everything is going up up up. Even chinese brand's pricing is going through the roof. RGT pioneer used to be $200 and now with shipping is over $500 CDN.
      I don't blame them, the molds for new kits are phenomenally expensive to produce. I had a small 4 up mold made back in the 80's and it was $50,000.00 so complex ones can run up to $400,000.00.

    Looks to me like a close replica of the Bel-Ray Bullet, as raced in the 1970s by Malcolm Smith and Bud Feldkamp. It's the buggy the Rough Rider was based on, so I suppose that makes this the Rough Rider's better-looking brother 🙃
    There are plenty of photos of the Bullet with a spare wheel mounted on the rear too, so yep it looks like that's exactly what that cross-brace piece on the rear is for.

      @@onkouth Ha ha, don't get me wrong, I still have and love my original 1979 Rough Rider and actually spent a few weeks this summer restoring it. But it always annoyed me that the body wasn't a bit closer to the real thing; the big ol' radio-gear box on the SRB chassis kinda prevented it. Seems someone at Tamiya maybe felt the same way! I wonder if one of the original designers had a hand in this -- we never hear anything of what happens inside Tamiya and who designs what, which is a shame.
