In today's video, I give you the steps to alter your baggy hoodie at home and fit your body perfectly. 🔴WATCH NEXT - th-cam.com/video/td0ruRlAmh0/w-d-xo.html - How To Tailor A T-Shirt.
I mean to each their own but a perfectly fitted hoodie looks hilarious. I don't think hoodies were ever intended to be a perfectly fitted piece of clothes. It has to be at least a bit roomy to look good.
Super useful! I like tight fitting hoodies but for the life of me, i can't find anything that fits well without looking small. The skills taught in this video are definitely useful for clothes too! However, i think hoodies these days are meant more so to be portable blankets. Oversized seems to be the new style; it doesn't look good imo, but people do like it.
As an experienced sewer (sewist?), may I suggest that you place your pins across the stitching line instead of pointing along the line. That way if you accidentally sew over a pin, you are not likely to hit it with the needle. Also, it helps you focus on sewing nice and straight, as you can remove most of the pins after your seam is sewn. This is the way I have always done it, so why not try each way and see which you like best? I'm glad to see young men learning to sew! It is a great way to be creative, and keep your wardrobe in good repair.
My school made Home Economics mandatory for everyone and it for reasons like this I am glad they did. There was a lot of the “blokey” jobs covered too, which I probably equally wouldn’t had a clue about. It’s silly in 2020s that we still genderise daily household tasks. It always baffled my mother and sister that some of their friends are clueless when something goes wrong with their car. It’s hardly ground breaking but everyone should be thought these things from sewing to changing a tyre
@Juji-Gatame Complexity or otherwise is irrelevant. Faced with the choice of buying a new hoodie or sewing alterations to an existing hoodie, we all know what choice most men would make. Besides, the premise of this video is entirely unrealistic. It assumes that most men have access to a sewing machine. Between the cost of buying a sewing machine and the cost of a new hoodie, the choice is obvious.
@@sams3015 For some, it might have to do with gender stereotypes but speaking for myself, I simply have no interest in sewing or car repair, whatever those gender stereotypes might relate to. It’s far easier to go out and buy a new hoodie. And I have a number that I can call and someone will deal with the broken car and in the meantime, insurance gets me a replacement car. Where I live, I don’t even need to fill my own car with petrol. I just pull up to the petrol station, tell them which type of petrol and how much of it I want and all I have to do is pay for it.
I'm in that awkward position where if I buy an M size, the sleeves are often too short, and the hoodie feels short and then a size L just looks really massive on me and doesn't really match my body. I have been wearing lots of size M hoodies, but now there's this really good sale on a hoodie I really like. It's in size XL however, so I will have to tailor the hoodie to make the sleeves a little shorter and to make the hoodie fit better. I do like baggier clothing too, but I really don't aim for that.
Yes, I have a similar issue with hoodies. I like a relaxed comfy fit with long sleeves, but what i HATE is a loose waist. If I go down a small for a better waist fit, then the rest of the hoodie is also smaller.. sleeves not long enough, upper half too "tight" and not relaxed enough. So I may go down the DIY tailor method, it would be a game changer tbh.
I just ate desert for every meal this summer and now the hoodie that was too loose in the spring fits like a glove. Do you have a video on letting out pants?
@@RealMenRealStyle 👵 I prefer the tailored fit. Looks better, like someone who likes to take care of himself. Loving this channel; I share the information gleaned here with my sons. You give me hope, I may yet see them become husbands and fathers! 😏😉
I got a free hoodie from a baseball game i went to, but it was a XL and i am not. This was so easy, clear, and exactly what i was lookin for. Thank You.
Thank you! I have some hoodies I love that are wayyy too big for me (XL but I swear a S/M) while Im happy I dont fit an XL anymore I did like the hoodies!
I've got an old hoodie that's in pretty rough shape, but I keep it around as a beater shirt to when I'm doing stuff outside or whatever. I was just thinking about how it might be possible to tailor it myself, and so I found this video. If I screw it up, it's not like it would be a huge loss. Question, though: Since my hoodie has a zipper, there are no seams on the sides under the armpits. Would it look weird if I tried to tailor it like you showed in the video? Also, would there be a way to resize the shoulders to fit as well? Great video. I've never tailored anything before, but this makes me wanna give it a shot.
Thomas once again dons his super tailoring mask ( even keeps him from getting puffy eyes) and shows us another sewing tutorial. The hoodie looks great. I was wondering however if the hoodie is new should it be washed and dried first to get any possible shrinkage out of the way before altering ?
Generally, all clothes should be washed and dried once or twice --- stores already try to do them, and manufactures, so clearly, doing it once may not have the full effect. Generally, to best find out how much shrinkage there is, if any, the item should be worn a few times and washed after wearing it. If or if not a dress shrinks, or sometimes even expands, depends on how it was made and materials.
why do my body not look strong and athletic in MY hoodie (Btw I just found out i am skinny fit, like very much so, so could that be it?) Best regards, Magnum Pind from Yearhouse
How to make your sweatshirt fit better to maje you look more athletic. Step 1: go to the gym. Step 2: get bigger, more muscular, and more athletic. Step 3: put on a sweatshirt.
That’s because he suggested a straight stitch on a stretch fabric. You should use a zigzag at the least, a three point zig zag if your machine has it. The stitch needs to allow the fabric to stretch or the thread will break and you’ll get holes down the side of your hoodie.
@@loose7609 probably! I would use a zig zag or stretch overlock stitch along the seam edge or close to the straight stitch but not overlapping. Then I would use a seam ripper and take out the straight stitch
Alex costa says the autumn/fall fashion this season is that baggy clothes are in and skinny are out, so who do you believe so you look good this season
Smaler are often to short and to thigt on the upper part, bigger are often to baggy around the waist but the right length and overall good fit. In general if you are a bit taller then the average and skinny or Athletic built you often need some tailoring on your clothes if you want them to fit good.
Or just dont buy your hoodies Oversized.. you’d have to be some type of special to purposely buy oversized clothes just to alter them for a fitted fit.. do you also like your ice latte hot? Lol

As soon as he said a sewing machine, I knew this video wasn't for me. 😂
You can always eat up and fit your body to your hoodie 😅
Me too
I did it by hand
How did you think you would tailor a hoodie?
@@BigRigWA well, you could sew it by hand, but I doubt he meant that 😂

I agree, they shouldn't be too tight, but too baggy can look like a sloppy mess tok
Exactly! It must be loose not perfectly fitted

Using a sewing machine is beyond the ability of most men.
It's never easy when you're just starting. I would suggest to practice and start with the basics/ :)
Indeed, its not easy, but this video is actually a nice tutorial, easy to follow and well explained.

I approve this video, also make sure the hoodie is gray and conceals the face when hood is up.

So much trouble being taken with a garment which - at best - I wear on the sports field (before it gets too warm) ?

Just saying I have an oversized hoodie that is fantastic to nap in. I’d say not everything needs to be close fitted.
I peeped that American Psycho reference😂🔥
Antonio has made me take care of my lifestyle yo next levels. Thanks for the amazing content Antonio
Interesting... I'm looking for something to fix the drop shoulder
Another cool one, Thomas - thanks!
Different, informative, and trendy idea. Good video.
Glad you liked it!
Wow really helpful and straightforward 👍🏾
Hoodies are supposed to be oversized, otherwise it looks weird. The point is comfort
can i just leave the safety pins?
Looks good to me!!!

you lost me when you said sewing machine 😂
Cool video m8
Great viddddd
If I buy an oversized hoodie, you can trust me when I say that it’s not to make it fitted
he doesn’t get than oversized has been trending for years now, everything is getting loser and even guys like Alex Costa are starting to understand 😅
Honestly the oversized hoodie looks better even in the miniature
I have a company branded hoodie that is too big. Gonna try this. Wish me luck.
I need you for my hoodie🤣🤣🤣
great video Thomas, as always . May I suggest that you make a video on how to slim the waist on a suit jacket?
Now your hoodies make you look athletic and badass, instead of frumpy and unkempt 😂😂
Can you guys make a video on how to make the neck/collar bigger?
What kind of sewing machine are you using? Also any sewing machine you would recommend for a beginner?
Does this work on a zip up jacket? I bought one that is far too big and i need to make it fit better.
Sewing machine you use?
What if the sleeves is too long?
Yes what you did tell
Me
Baggy hoodies could look good too
does this work on zip up hoodies too?
Antonio I wanna ask which intro music you use in yr every video
Please tell me it's name
Perfect, hoodies when you are tal/ somewhat athletic built are often to wide, really need to buy a sewing machine.
How to "easily" adjust your hoodie
*proceeds to list a bunch of shit you've never used before, then comments how it's not easy*
I bought an xxl hoodie that is coming in and I’m like a medium
can you do a tailoring video for guys with dad bods? I want to accentuate the shoulders and make my gut invisible..
Everything is form fitting these days- baggie hoodie is nice every once in awhile
You can pry my baggy hoodie from my cold dead hands Antonio.
Oversized looks better
I thought we were supposed to use the zigzag pattern for hoodies so that it can stretch?

My problem is my scrawny arms. Hoodie fits good everywhere except the sleeves. To baggy.
Mans bare tapped blad
i did this now the hoodie is ripping

You lost me at the list of "supplies". Basically you need to own something that your grandma left behind when she passed that you donated to Goodwill.
Alex costa says the autumn/fall fashion this season is that baggy clothes are in and skinny are out, so who do you believe so you look good this season
I might as well just go buy a fit hoodie this just to much work
Who has a sowing machine lying around
How nice of a sewing machine does one need?
Yeah bruh nah this ain’t easy when he said sewing machine I knew I was cooked
I heard that when society collapse and the apocalypse happens sewing will be very important basic skill
Just buy a hoodie that fits
I'll keep my oversized Dior oversized thanks
Easier version go to McDonald's or kfc 3-5 times for a month or 2 fit your body to your hoodie.
Most are baggy, because thats kind of the point with those
Very informative, but defeats the purpose of an oversized hoodie.
Yeah easy lol
Why not just buy a smaller size?
A smaller size mqy not always fit the way you like. Tailoring is way different than just buying a smaller size of anything e
This!

The combination of the words "tailor" & "oversized" in one sentence is just ridiculous...
How so?
What’s the point of buying a oversize hoodie, when you want to make it look normal ^^
You’re too old for this trend Antonio ^^
Just go to a tailor 🙄
