Why make this question sound complicated when the answer is very simple? True wisdom begins when you learn to “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 ). Seek God's wisdom every day as you study, pray, and stay in communion with Him!
Are you going to do a transcript of these youtubes with Rabbi Friedman? I can't understand the Hebrew parts, or maybe it's yiddish. Thank you so much. The next one, I have to defend Torah to Rabbis also.
Ba'al Hasulam(Rav Yehuda Leib Halevi Ashlag) sets straight the terminology of what Etsem/Atsmut means(sometimes those terms in Chabad aren't fully clear) I warmly recommend you learn its writings.
Any person who gives a dvar Torah has to give source/sources whether it be in the written Torah or the oral Torah. So that when they get back home they can go and look at that source for reference. Otherwise it’s a big speculation and open for debate. When you give the source, it-makes it undoubtedly.
Rabbi Friedman doesn't mind if you doubt what he's saying. He is trying to explain the concept in a way you should understand. Not force you to accept it only because of the source
@@weeklydaily4775 what he wants is irrelavant. It's still bad information. If I can warn a few people online to be skeptical and read the authentic Torah, I will.
The reason chassidus (kabalah) was never taught to the masses is because it’s the type of stuff people think they understand but they really don’t. Whereas for example Gemara you either get it or not. All Mani’s is doing is what everyone does. They paint a world view based on everything they learn and know. The principles they learn to be true. It’s reading between the lines. He gets his points from the space between two principles. His source is chassidus. As a whole. This is kind of like when the rebbe said as was quoted you can say some points but they need explanation. Some ideas in chassidus are like was said “kaviochul” ie the point is correct but you need to know the background to understand the message properly. People are so bent out of shape by some of statements but ultimately he wants people to keep the same Mitzvos that we all agree on. Does Hashem need us? In the same way people say “no He doesn’t” without any real reasoning behind the background. (Yes they quote sources but that’s exactly his point about sources. If you don’t understand why the source is saying what they say then you can’t really have a conversation.) he says “yes He does”, and you need to understand the background to make sense of it. For those that are actually bringing the arguments for why Hashem doesn’t need our Mitzvos.. once we’re in the realm of argument please explain rabbis Mani’s reasoning is off. Going back to saying you have a source without being able to use your source to discredit his point just shows you don’t really understand what you’re quoting, or that he’s right and you don’t understand him.
For the record, concerning what R manis says that people make the mistake of saying Hashem has less or is stripped to be nothing, the Rebbe Rashab discusses this mistake in Parshas Shemos in somech vov (page קפו) and states that both in atzilus and the sefiros hagenuzos in the ein sof there are the maalos of the creations.
@@Sweet_Yerushalayim This is not accurate. Atzmus is considered shleimus dKulah. And the Rebbe Rashab says outright: עצמות נושא הכל It is only that these maalos are so fused with atzmus that they cannot be considered even the level of ohr bShemesh. However, it’s definitely not correct to say he has no maalos
@@Chosidchosid770Sorry but this is a טעות חמור. We are never ever talking about real עצמות. The places in chabad literature that mention עצמות mean עצמות השם or עצמות הרצון. Never do they refer to הקב"ה כמו שהוא בעצמו, chas v'shalom. That is an איסור גדול.
@@Sweet_Yerushalayim 1. Obviously u don’t believe g-d is nothingness, stripped of all qualities, u would just be atheist(talk about an issur gadol). Obviously u believe g-d is something which has abilities, like the ability to create something from nothing. Yet you want to strip him of everything that belongs to him. So what’s left? I suspect you would say that it’s just him, something beyond all comprehension. That’s great and I’m not arguing with that. I’m explaining it. that thing which he is, at least has a creative power(as he created). Very obviously though this creative power is not a power individualized and separate from his essence, but neither is it absent since he is using a creative power. Rather, it must be something which is united with his essence to the point that it just is him, and cannot in that unity even be called a creative power. But that means he is the perfection of all things, not the absence of all things. All of this is obvious. It is only that we cannot call these things by their name at the time. This is discussed at length in chassidus 2. Nothing I’m quoting uses the terminology you just cited or implies it. In fact, it will mention these concepts and then mention atzmus separately. 3. The Rebbe talks about Atzmus constantly. This is the thrust of the Rebbe’s entire philosophy and if you haven’t understood that then you haven’t understood the Rebbe’s philosophy. We don’t need a source ? Our holy eternal mesorah is the ONLY reason we are still around and Torah is still alive. It’s not necessarily a good thing????!! Baffles the mind these answers. Clearly doesn’t have sources so says such a thing
Some things in life is not from a book... It is spriritual. If you need a source, look up!!! God our creator is the source. That is where you gain WISDOM!!!!
Actually, when Moses brought the second set of tablets back to Israel the reality of the living oral Torah is described in the written torah! The torah is the life and length of days for Jews and non Jews alike! So Hashem blessed Israel with a a garden of resources called the torah of truth, the written AND oral torah, as a source of all wisdom and knowledge for Jews and non Jews! G-d commanded the Jews to set the torah as their Wisdom, understanding, and knowledge for all time… to just look up and not look to the Torah, as a Jew , would be just plain foolish or a person could just be a Boor!? If you read some more you will be in awe of the torah enough to go to it for ALL your questions in life.
More people with chabad need to rebuke this… thank you yaakov! Change the Torah? That that itself is an out of context quote of the Rebbe… He is everywhere but not! If Hashem was simply everywhere and everything therefore “Needing” us, He would be a physical being that is This Olam and just a very large physical being. With physical needs… that’s a Limit on the Ein Sof! That’s against the 13 principles! So the statement isn’t able to be made without IMMENSE explanation. The rebbe was right and your line of thinking isn’t even logical… there I said it! Now more at chabad say it before time runs out to… please! The Rebbe’s blessed memory deserves it. And for the sake of heaven!
But the needs came after a desire for the whole creation, he is the source of everything even the physical world, its from him. It doesnt harm the ein sof because he is not a "perfect automatic machine" he has will, thoughts and pleasure(and those are mere words when we apply them for ourselves because we are humans with hardly the true and realness compared to his). He wanted to have needs, thats a part of his eternal plan. Though about "changing torah" i havent grasped it yet

I get his motivation for saying what he does. But if it isn't so and isn't the truth since the books clearly say God does NOT need us, isn't this a Mitzva habo Bavairo? It teaches something inaccurate about God and has its own ramifications. The Hebrew texts he is quoting neither support nor elucidate an answer to the inaccurate obsession he is stuck to.
I find these teachings to be childish. Everything we say about God is only in relation to us. We have no information about God's essence and arguing about it is pointless and a waste of time imo.
Somethings are that way. But it is important to know that it makes a difference to God when we do his commandments. There are so many people that do not follow the commandments because they claim that it makes no difference to God. They can’t fathom that God really cares, if we do the commandments, and that is extremely problematic. As the Rabbi stated, this is one of the 13 principals.
I am not sure what teachings you are referring to, first of all nobody can teach about Gods essence because it is simply beyond any form of comprehension, if you are talking about Kabbalistic teachings, the esoteric teachings based on the Zohar, which can help a person have an understanding of the way God presents himself in our world, in order to be drawn closer to him, then clearly you haven’t studied it enough to have an opinion on the matter. All aspects of Pardes are meant to be studied by everyone although some people are drawn towards one part of it, depending on where their the source of their soul is closer to. If you feel like one aspect is what you can relate to more, it’s probably for this reason. To dismiss something you don’t understand as childish is quite ignorant and disrespectful…

That's some lazy learning you are doing. So someone says an idea or Torah thought and doesn't give the source and you just accept it all. Most respected rabbeim give the sources when they are teaching or when you are reading/learning a sefer. My son and I have questioned some things we read while learning only to find a quote was taken out of context... that's not right. Give the source. Christians are notorious for taking one sentence and disowning everything that came before and after the sentence just to twist things to their liking.
I cannot seem to grasp why this video was made. Half of it is Hebrew, rendering that half totally useless for me, and for who knows who else who does not understand the Hebrew (or Yiddish, or Aramaic). To me, it represents abject tone deafness, total disregard for people like me. If the attitude is too be dismissive of us lesser folks who don't have the grasp of language, point taken and duly noted, I assure you. It's a form of condescension, day what you will to imply not, yes it is. It's like none of you get it. I'll try to spell it out in my one language. Like this, if you make an assertion, or if you state a principle, and the idea seems to be new, yet that principle or that assertion is grounded in Torah, then say so. Here is an example, "The Rebbe taught such and such." "According to the Tanya, x, y, and z." For sure when you say, "You have it all wrong, here is the real meaning..." There's never any of that. The assertions are placed on their clothes wheel to dry in the wind, but hardly ever is the idea connected to a source. As a listener, I am entitled to know, "Who says so." Rabbi Mannis says and says again, "It makes sense." Oh. Much of Torah is not based on logic, e.g., shatnezz. And the only hint of logic that God gives us for "chukim" is this, "For I am holy and so shall you be holy." Bingo, a source, God just explained the whole Torah. Without condescension, He says to us, this is why you have to follow these laws, learn this literature, keep these traditions, put a leather box on your head." Again, I don't have a clue what was attempted to be accomplished with this video. An important principle in oration and exposition is to know you're audience that you speak to them, not above them, not beyond them. My source? The Talmud says that a teacher must be attuned to his student, to tailor his messaging and instruction to that student, that the student has the best shot at absorbing what the teacher might impart to him. You know what also makes equal sense, logically? Amalek. No? If there's no concept of Amalek, then there's also no free will. The Torah enjoins us to choose life. That there implies that we have free will. So don't say that it has to be because it makes sense. That isn't so, as I've just illustrated.
does it make sense?, and if i say no... and if i were to say i communicate to him, would you accept it without question... like your idiotic statement that god was trying to trick adam and eve into eating the apple by telling them not to... if you wish to stay consistent, you can use that logic to break every commandment... yes means yes and no means no... does that make sense
I have an idea! Why not tell Jews the truth that they HAVE to do teshuvah and do all the Torah!? You seem to be trying to get people to want to serve Hashem, but why not just tell them the truth that they are Obligated to return to Him?? Are trying to be popular? What’s the deal with this approach? Why do you want to add to the Torah so late in the game? Why not tell reform and conservative Jews that their beliefs are heretical? That only orthodoxy and following the teachings of the sages is the only acceptable, to Hashem, way to be a Jew?? Maybe all this war and fighting would cease if you did what was right and true and get am Yisrael to return to Hashem?? Why not say that oct 7th happened as a kindness to am Yisrael to get them to do teshuvah? This is a twisted a false thing you are doing…

I rely on his psakim for my Shabbat observance around electricity, and I was able to understand this modern, challenging topic in depth. In Chassidus (and other reckless teachers) you just "got it from the Rebbe" and that's that. This is a known weakness of exile Torah.

Ba'al Hasulam(Rav Yehuda Leib Halevi Ashlag) sets straight the terminology of what Etsem/Atsmut means(sometimes those terms in Chabad aren't fully clear)
I warmly recommend you learn its writings.
Moshiach is such a poisonous idea. How is this not clear. No amount of prayer will ever stop Jihad. Jihadis pray too, and they still have Korbanot.
90% truth is 100% false. That applies to what he says

The fact that Hashem needs us is self justifying. It must be true that we are necessary to Him, therefore, it is.
No sources.
But not in עצמות, chas v'shalom.
@@Sweet_Yerushalayim This is not accurate. Atzmus is considered shleimus dKulah. And the Rebbe Rashab says outright: עצמות נושא הכל
It is only that these maalos are so fused with atzmus that they cannot be considered even the level of ohr bShemesh.
This is discussed at length in chassidus
2. Nothing I’m quoting uses the terminology you just cited or implies it. In fact, it will mention these concepts and then mention atzmus separately.

You do not need a book or a person as a source. The only source you need as from above!!!!
Kofer and his student.
Here is an example, "The Rebbe taught such and such." "According to the Tanya, x, y, and z."
For sure when you say, "You have it all wrong, here is the real meaning..."
There's never any of that. The assertions are placed on their clothes wheel to dry in the wind, but hardly ever is the idea connected to a source. As a listener, I am entitled to know, "Who says so."
Rabbi Mannis says and says again, "It makes sense." Oh. Much of Torah is not based on logic, e.g., shatnezz. And the only hint of logic that God gives us for "chukim" is this, "For I am holy and so shall you be holy." Bingo, a source, God just explained the whole Torah. Without condescension, He says to us, this is why you have to follow these laws, learn this literature, keep these traditions, put a leather box on your head."
Again, I don't have a clue what was attempted to be accomplished with this video.
They minimized God into a Rebbe (and the Rebbe OBM into a God)
