      Tough call! Civic is more car, all around. While the Corolla more fun, all around. Both are very compelling. If you live in the snow belt or where the roads are rougher the Corolla if you live in warmer climates with smooth surfaces, the Civic.

    I want the GR Corolla for the Fun/Playful/Rally Style driving that the AWD will offer as opposed to a FWD torque steer monster. Tack times mean little to me. Fun Factor Rules.
    I say this having owned several 911s and still own a '14 Fiesta ST from new. The ST is good fun - But I know I will enjoy the GR waaaaay more (that is when my allocation # comes up-:)

      Try this: Type R actually beats the Morizo - and the R is on worse tyres. Having said that on mountain roads, I’d much prefer the Toyota just because the rally suspension handles rough stuff better and no matter how good a FWD is on a track, on a tight corner or wet round, you’re going to get axle hop and torque steer, especially as the tyres lose tread over time. th-cam.com/video/auLseKQSaFk/w-d-xo.html

    Both are terrifically good hot hatches but boy so over priced essecially with the low production runs so there is a mark up or a long wait. The i30n I think was the last afordable hot hatch before that even started creeping up in price but now end of life! Hot hatches used to be just about affordable for the average person, that is what made them so unique but now I think they are a dying breed and these are probably the last before the EV world completly takes over...something I am not looking forward to but hey, I am old and on the way out but thank God I got enjoy the best back in the eighties and nineties.

    Depends on what you want to do with it. I find my stock CTR much more preferable vs my heavily-modded STI for most things. Yeah, in wet/snow, not so much. But no one should be racing around in those conditions anyway. Right? If you're on the fence, just sell all personal belongings and get a 911 turbo. One is inspired by rally racing and the other by circuit/ road coures racing. So inspitation is from very different fundermentals. Short tight twisty and wet conditions the corolla is king and the civic is king in longer to medium or 90 degree turns like the race track or roads that are of that nature. The corolla is my choice based on where I live with cold wet winters and short summers and narrow roads, 4wd layout and manual hand brake. If you live where weather conditions are dryer then the civic might be your choice but not a great choice if the road surfaces are poor and bumpy due to its very stiff uncomprimising suspension for track use.

    I crossed shopped these vehicles along with the new WRX. Ultimately ended up with the WRX because the dealers here in the states want to bend you over for a GR or Type R. In all honesty, the GRC felt extremely cheap inside when I test drove it. And the engine felt out of breath. My Kona N felt faster. Unfortunately dealers wouldn't let me test the new CTR but I was tired of FWD anyways. I live in Florida and wanted something that wasn't useless during the rainy months. The WRX was like the Swiss army knife of them all. The acceleration is very close to these but it handled much better than the previous STi. The new engine feels like it has alot more in it. The interior was light years ahead of the GRC but I'd say less special feeling than the CTR. Either way, all great choices. Honorable mention; Elantra N is a phenomenal bargain too.

      @sonydominates ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I reserved a GR Corolla allocation the other day after renting a WRX on Turo and absolutely loving it. It has a surprising amount of torque and pulls well on the highway and is great in street driving. My fun car is a 2016 Mustang GT PP, so I wanted to add something with a different drivetrain, either MR or AWD. I think I may go with the GRC for now since I reserved one at MSRP for a circuit. Decided, if I don't like it, I'll just sell the GRC and get a WRX instead. Interesting to hear your take.

    • @miguelramirez2713
      @miguelramirez2713 ปีที่แล้ว

      @layne4376 Well i did settle that was the whole bit about me not wanting to pay tons in mark-up and not sure if you have driven them all but the Corolla is not "way quicker". None of the vehicles mentioned are "way quicker" than each other. We're comparing sub 300hp sedans. Now if you compare them to the G80 M3 we have, they are all turtles. The Corolla just didn't feel right. I expected more punch. The WRX feels very close to it in acceleration and every other dynamic in that sense. Like I said before, my Kona N felt faster than both in a straight line. And in terms of the handling, the new WRX in my opinion feels like it has a better chassis than the previous STi. Missing the brembos hasn't made a difference for me on the street but the biggest let down is the electric steering. The steering in previous gens felt much better, but that's just one aspect of how the car handles. It otherwise to me feels better, more compliant.
