Mercedes ZAS Code: 479 Cylinder cut out system
This system is found in the W220 and the W215 as far as my info is going. It was optional on the m113 and standard on the M137. This is as far as my info is going. The engine i have is a M113.960 engine with the option code 479. This means it can cut the ignition and injection on cylinder 2,3,5 and 8.
This igntion and injection cut is pretty simple. Just electronic controlled from the ecu. But also the Valves of these cylinder stay closed when this is activated. This means the rockers on these cylinders on the intake and exhaust valves will be split. There is a piston assembly in the rocker that is controlled by oil pressure.
When the solenoids on each back is activated oil pressure is pushing a piston out of the rocker that is running on the camshaft. The other half is disconnected and is staying steady on the valve spring setup, leaving the valve closed.
To activate this. Certain driving and load conditions must be in place for the system to work. most of this is in low load cruising. Mercedes is giving that when driving 55mph it will save 13% fuel consumption.

We never had that on the V8 cars here in the states but we did on the M137 V12's as you stated. I don't recall ever having problems with the system in my experience anyway.
Sounds good then. I think i will control it with the standalone. Just Nice to test.it
I am wondering if m113 5.4 or 4.3 na can have this system. Its pretty rare on 5.0 as far as I understood
Yes it can be. I though the slk55 amg r172 had this option
