Illenium has always been my all time favorite artist. I'm one of the few people who actually listens to EDM a lot in my school and college and god it really helps me relief the pain i go through. I'm so blessed to have an artist like him where I can enjoy his creation. Thank you Nick for being alive, without your creations I wouldn't even be alive today to write this comment and thank you Audio Eats for creating this video! PS: big love and greetings from my country 🇧🇹💙✨
i fuckin love illenium, i knew he had drug problems but not to the extent he OD’d. he has overcome so much over his life and i’m happy he got clean n got married. his music helped me so much in high school and i’ll continue to listen him forever.
He is and will be my favorite artist for the rest of my life. Absolutely love his music and his message, so happy to see him doing better after such difficult moments
I can’t say I’m personally a fan of the music but after watching this I’m a fan of the person. Illenium deserves all the success that has and will come to him. The universe really does reciprocate the love you put out there.
Trevor (sts) Actually went to my highschool haha! I l was listening to since runaway, and my teachers all told me that he went to my school after they all found out I like dubstep. Would love to work with him someday.
Finally someone put it into nice video. It's really inspiring to see someone get through hard times and become totally different person being the best version of himself
Damn dude. 5:41 this 60 second period in the video gives me such dark memories of the past, it’s crazy how relatable the experiences of others can be, even though our lives are and will be completely different. Cheers to sobriety, hoping other people in this comment section can also make it through to being sober as well 🥲🫶🏼 I know it’s very hard, but it’s always worth it to push it out until you are healthy, happy, and hopeful in life :)
This video could not have popped up on my feed at a better time. I’ve been on such an Illenium kick recently. I’ve had all his core albums on shuffle while I work the past few days. What a legend. I’d kill to go to one of his live shows in the future. Rock solid video!
Love your content. Never been an Illinium fan, a lil touchy feely for my taste, this video helps me understand why and now intrigued to actually pay closer attention to this mega star
Not a big illenium fan but I won't deny his his ability to produce and perform at a high level. Only seen him once at edc 2019 not knowing what to expect and that set is still one of my favorites to this day.
I think one of my fav recent things about his story was that one of his fans asked on Reddit/Twitter why he doesn't play Brave Soul anymore and he responded saying it "still fucks him up pretty hard lol" but I believe someone came out saying they lost someone recently and that it helped them get through tough times and wanted to hear it live again. Then I think the first time he brought it back (since Denver Trilogy?) was at his recent Red Rocks show and then again at EDC 2024. I was there at his EDC set and I was AMAZED that he decided to play it there, I was so happy because it's one of those rare moments since he hardly ever plays it. amazing guy 🥹
"hey that angle of the gorge show is familiar... oh thats me" ahaha happy to provide a lil snippet for the video. very well done, been a fan of the mans since early 2015 and learned some new things about the earliest days even though i've done a number of deep dives myself over the years
Thank you for this video! I too discovered Illenium in 2015 with the Operate Remix when I was going through a depression , and it changed my life. I'm so happy for him and where he is today.
Ever since i learned about the story behind Take You Down, I could never listen to it the same. Its fkn HEAVY and it hits me every time. thank you for digging into history for us and sharing all these stories! he's my fav artist and my first ever show, so it always makes me happy to see other ppl as passionate about him/his music as me ❤❤
I would love to see one of your video essays on ferry corsten or armin van buuren. Idk how much you're into trance music but i would absolutly love it. Theyre also kinda old producers and it might be hard to find stuff. idk just a thought. love your content tho
Awesome video! Illenium has been my favorite artist since I discovered him at my first music festival, EDC LV in 2017. I've followed him very closely since pretty early on and its so cool to see his story fully laid out like this and see his backstory be given the recognition that it deserves. This video even taught a long time fan a few new things about him so props on the thorough research that you do. Great job with the story telling as always! I've been hooked on your vids since I found them a couple weeks back when I saw the Excision one on the bass canyon subreddit. Keep up the awesome work on these vids and props for how fast and how well you've been putting these together! 👏
The way I love the kite string tangle and found Illenium, said the sky, Odesza, seven lions, Dabin, EDEN, and everybody else from MrSuicideSheep’s channel back in 2014/2015 after losing my mom to suicide.. and all these artist are my biggest inspirations.. this video feels like a behind the scenes of what’s made me who I am. So so cool. Thank you for putting this together
Big up on the video! So I did some digging into the Cervantes DJ Battle story, and it's kind of crazy. So in January he took part in the first round of the dj battle and won. He then on Feb 4th he preformed in the winners showcase, BUT THERE WAS A FIRE AT THE VENUE, so not all the contestants had a chance to preform. So they were all brought back the next week and an artist named Savage won. Dispite not winning we would be invited back to preform at the venue in May of that year, so they must have liked him.
Started listening to illenium around 2017. Rush over me and beautiful creatures is what made me fall in love with the music. Seeing him the most out of all the djs. And went to trilogy denver. Absolutely amazing.
Yeah, I feel you man. I went to the same thing except I didn’t have my parents so I had to pick myself up like they say that you boo straps. There were no boots to pick up my cell phone so here I am two years clean. I relapse recently for the first time two years, went to the hospital for two days. I love music and make music every day and make trap beats but I don’t think I’m good enough because I don’t play piano at this point. People say I’m pretty damn good and I think I’m pretty damn good as well. It’s just that there’s like an issue with the piano thing. I can’t really explain anyway I will just be doing what I used to work as healthy for now and my dream. My new dream is to work in the IT field, supposedly in a class right now, but the requirements are extreme and I had no idea until I already was already so yeah nothing works. I take three step forward four step back to normal shelter. Type of place type of drug program for two years and I had to stay clean the whole time. I just everything I tried just didn’t work out. I don’t know I just first time and time. First time I had a long time whoever read this just know you can stay clean. Just have to get away from it literally
Not a huge fan of Illenium's music myself, but I do remember seeing him opening up for Feed Me in 2014 at the Boulder theater. He was actually opening at doors too, so he was before Zeros and Delta Heavy. Crazy to think I pretty much thought nothing about his set that day and nearly 10 years later he sells out Mile High stadium, and is bigger than all the artists he opened for that day.
I went to Illenium’s show in February 2014 at Sub.Mission. I remember thinking of all the artists there he was the most original and stand out. Not sure if he won. I think I remember he messed up during his set and had to have the someone help him with the CDJ. He was giving out his EP at that show I think I was able to just barely get the last copy. I checked out his SoundCloud at the time and think he only had a few hundred subscribers or less. In summer of 2015 I met Nick through another DJ at a SaidTheSky show in Colorado Springs at Rawkus, but hadn’t checked out his music since that show in 2014. He told me the 2014 show was his first show. The night after the show I visited his SoundCloud again and was shocked to see that he had blown up as an artist in such a short amount of time. I think he was at 70k subs. I saw him again in Colorado Springs in 2016 when he released his Ashes album. You can watch a video of that show on my page.
illenium 2014 :) puede que sea su primer fan hispanohablante ajjajas y al igual que a muchos ..su musica me ayudo a superar muchos problemas.. simplemente gracias
What's surprises me , is when do these artists get time to produce/come up with new ideas and sounds if they're already Touring, Travelling .... Playing shows Around the world . Idk after some level do they have ghost producers?? After all the locations he has been since February.....how does he get time to just sit and come up with new Track? And not just the track , he has to get the vocalist sing, then arrange & Mix the track... Send to his label There's just so much going on. Its a Music business after all Its absolute mystery to me
I've already got some other videos lined up, but I absolutely want to do a Getter video at some point, his story of switching from electronic music to rap is sick
i am super grateful that illenium is alive
PREACH! and he's probably saved so many more lives because of it 😭😭

the letter to the fans for “take you down” literally had me bawling in tears… i love this man and what his music has done for me.

Same here. I’ve always loved this song but seeing the letter itself really hit me 😢
Fucking beautiful story man. You are killing it. Illenium should be inspiration to anyone out there struggling, much love everybody❤
