Expectations: long, long honeymoon phase, male spiritual leadership, being taken care of financially, twin, continued dating, semi-carefree living... Reality: fading honeymoon phase, female spiritual leadership, taking care of things financially, miscarriage, no dates, adulting... I so needed this conversation!
I love to hear real conversations from real couples living in the real world with the rest of us. I am in a season where I am learning the importance of learning from others' experiences. I do not have to go through it to learn the life lesson.
I’m not black and I’m not in a relationship, but this video came up on my feed, I said I love the Fredericks, lemme watch this couch conversation 🎬🎬🎬🦋🦋🦋
I love these conversations. Even eating Melissa’s show #theLoveHour my wife and I realized I relate to m Melissa and she relates to Kevin. My wife is the creative and I’m the structure person. Similarly from this conversation, my wife is already ready to talk about stuff and I’m the one who needs to process things.
I see these videos pop up and I decided to finally watch thus is my second one, and I find these interesting, this one was really good. Thanks to the couples for sharing their stories. I especially enjoyed the couples stories where the lady ask for 3hall passes when after her previous boyfriend cheated on her.
I lived together in peace and love with 3 of my longterm partners. We shared duties for the mostpart, food, driving, music, love letters etc. Rational ups as well as downs but communicative and patient love through them. Both these couples have elements of my previous relationships. I love and prefer soft relationships with really good communication. I need a complete detoxifying overhaul. Rebuild some bridges. Get myself, and my One man Longterm Black Love. P.E.A.C.E
"the grace to change" I can get with this if I get the same grace to miss the mark on a moving target. I often feel the expectation to know what my wife wants and likes is very difficult if it is constantly changing. So I would stress that if we as a partner are putting in the effort to hit the most recently communicated target needs to be shown similar appreciation as if we hit the mark that has moved without knowing. If not, as a partner I will stop trying. May not be a popular comment, but I believe it's a real one
I think that’s the thing about grace, right? It has to be mutual. And multi faceted. You’re talking about having your partner honor your efforts and not having cemented expectations about the outcome. I think that’s a fair aspect to consider.
I have enjoyed this conversation because I am dealing with this topic in my marriage with reality vs expectations I am finally finally been honest with myself and with others and identify what triggers me and bother me and what bother my partner and learn what causes stress and anxiety sincerely yours Mrs Amber Mccutchen
These couples are totally cute could there be a couch conversation with single people I know it's only for married couples but how about talking more about when they were single help us single folks find their person
All representation is NOT good representation. This couple on the first episode now this one is giving HARD STRUGGLE no love. He didn’t want her and told her that first episode. We found out this episode she was sleeping in a car dealing with him. This lady doesn’t understand her value or worth! She went through all of this and he seems like he honestly married her and still there because he feels a duty to her.
Sometimes having expectations set you up for disappointment and it’s better to just have standards and boundaries.
Elijah & Jia are absolutely amazing! I could watch them all day!
Could listen to Kevin and Melissa all day. I love that they're hosting this season of Couch Conversations. Long may it continue!

It’s good to hear the different struggles other couples are going through. Relationships are hard work but it’s worth it. 💜

Huh? I didnt get that from the episode. Do explain.
Look at season 4 episode 1. It’s the first episode with kev and Melissa hosting. It will show you the back story
Are you talking about when they first were together? I think she said she had moved on at that time. Didn't she?
