Every movie could use more Clint Howard is something not said enough
Every Star Trek movie needed Clint Howard in it. I think he only had that one appearance in the original series, though… nope, he’s been in a few of the recent Star Trek series too, probably on the strength of that original appearance.

I remember this movie. Even the released trailer looked bad. Pam's bewbs were the literal drawing power of this movie. And we all know bewbs only have so much attraction power. Much like gravity.
Methinks that gravity, the "weakest" and most misunderstood force in physics, might just have more attraction than those ridiculous bewbs.
When this came out, everybody immediately started making fun of her attempt at serious acting. It was instantly a joke.
What's sad is that Pam was actually incredibly and naturally hot, then she ruined herself with plastic surgery.
A Scandinavian beauty never needs cosmetic surgery. It should be a sin.

Ah yes. The source of where my friends and I got our greeting we used for our 10th grade year. "You're looking rather boyant this evening" got a lot of use.
And this movie is the definition of having literally everything BUT a story. There was some alright action scenes, alright effects, I feel like the idea was there but there just isn't a plot. It's like they took 5 different post-apocalyptic movies and took a bit from this one and a bit from that one and mod-podged them together into this.
What's in that dumpster that it didn't move? Every copy of every Sifu movie ever.
I remember having the DVD for this back in the day. There was a bonus section where it was them shooting that beginning scene, Pamela Anderson for 30 straight minutes swinging totally drenched soaked in water. Best money I ever spent and wore that DVD out. lol

I rented this on VHS years ago with a buddy, because the cover said that it was an extended edition with more nudity. Turned out that they'd just slapped like 10 min. of the opening intro at the end of the flick, and that was it. Also, the story goes that this flick was received so poorly that it actually killed the comic book it was based on, and the comic didn't return until a couple of years ago.
If this killed the comic, that sucks for the creator.
So, with all the info you so kindly provided us with, we can all agree this movie is the definition of a 'So Bad It's Good' turkey.
The unrated version does have more boobage in the opening scene too.

Just on Pam. If you go back and look at her in her first Playboy pictorial, you can see the uniqueness in her beauty. She was stunning and unfortunately the plastic surgeon got a hold of her and turned her into a blonde bombshell on every corner beauty. I do not understand why women do that. She could have made the impact she has if she had none of the surgery she had.
Pressure to appear young and conform with the current beauty standards in Hollywood is a sad thing.

Yes, she was VERY pretty. If you want to see her "natural beauty" see clips of her on the TV show Home Improvement. (instead of Playboy)

With the surgery, she went from stunning "girl-next-door" to a knockout "blonde bombshell". (akin to Marilyn Monroe) And her career reached heights it never would have otherwise! (and she happily exploited the heck out of it!)
If you doubt that, remember that she (and her big bewbs) were doing massively well & when she got a reduction? Her show ratings tanked, (I think a movie or two bombed as well) and her career took a nosedive! (Until she "re-inflated" them.)
Granted, you COULD argue that that was because she had long since "painted herself into a corner" / stereotype. But either way, she KNEW what was NEEDED to reach the heights she desired, and she chose to do it.
One of my favorite "so bad it's good" films. I just watched this three days ago for the tenth time atleast. I will watch Pam Anderson in just about anything.

Surprised you didn't notice temuera morrison jason I freaked out when I saw him in this! Hes jango fett and now boba fett in the mandalorian and the voice actor for all the clonetroopers in starwars. Wild to see this was what he was in before the prequel movies came out!
@ChosenOneDan I can't believe Temuera Morrison's career tanked so low so fast that he appeared in this and later in Star Wars spin off stuff. Check out his performance in "Once Were Warriors" and "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?" , the man deserved an Oscar .

Temuera played a 'badass' in those 2 films I mentioned but they deal with domestic, sexual and alcohol abuse; he's both 100% badass/100% monster.

I literally subscribed to this channel today, and the one thing that seemed sort of wrong to me was that there wasn't a Barb Wire video yet. Problem solved!
She fought for more dialogue because she was so stifled in BAY WATCH according to the biography and she was convinced by the studio that this wardrobe would be empowerment. I mean she is "naturally" blonde, Erin dont kill me my love. She just fell for all the lies the studio told her. (You got it, You got it! dude looks like a Pam - ma - laa! You got it, You got it, Dude looks like a Pam - ma - laa) hahaha
The most notable thing about this movie, besides Clint Howard, of course, is that it has Jango Fett in it.
Despite its rather over-the-top nature, and it's comic book bravado (it's based off a comic), and campiness. I actually like the world-building in this movie, such as it is. The idea of a ravaged, war-torn, crime-ridden corrupt and decadent neutral City we're mercenaries play their trade while the country Burns in civil war was well done as an idea, the world feels lived-in. The Casablanca angle it's real fun. Plus Udo Keir great in this movie as a badass yet gentlemanly club manager/bouncer was awesome. Temuera Morrison in his pre Jango/Boba Fett days is great as well. The cartoonish and exaggerated world that movie takes place in fun, and movie dose not take itself seriously and knows what it is. It's 90s fun factor feel adds to it, I miss this era of film making. This movie is a guilty pleasure of the highest order.
You also can’t forget the scenery-chewing Steve Railsback!

Let's be real, Udo Kier is the type of actor who will give 100% even on piece of shit flicks like Dracula 3000 and I agree with you that the set design is on point for the movie

I was serving my military service back in 2001 was 19 yo. Aksked my then girlfriend to record this for me, first showing on tv. She hit record and decided to watch a little with her mom. Was faced with couple of questions and weird looks when i returned home and saw them😂😅

Dark Horse Comics had some success early on with their Alien vs Predator comics and began producing films based on their comics (The Mask, Virus, TimeCop). Barb Wire was part their failed attempt to create their own superhero line of comics to try and compete with Image Comics.
NGL, this is a huge guilty pleasure. It's just so over the top and 90s as all hell but it wears the cards on its sleeve and doesn't try to be self aware.

And I've realized that it is the 90s version of Barbarella...without having a bad guy that was later named from one of my favorite bands of the early MTV era...Eurythmics LOL!! Barb Wire is basically a re-imagining of Casablanca. While it's obvious why they did it, I'll never forgive Universal for promoting this movie over MST3K: The Movie.
Funnily enough, this movie is loosely based on the plot of Casablanca, so…good call, Jason

You reminded me at the end there, but i genuinely think this movie was supposed to be a take on Casablanca. I guess the beats are there but it's so mind-bogglingly bad that it's easy to miss.
I swear I drank myself into a blackout trying to watch it because other than I know 'I've seen it' I cannot remember a single scene.
