  • An excellent but very windy visit to Sandy industrial estate which is located just on the outside of the town. The footbridge offers superb views along the East Coast Mainline so you'll see plenty of services from VTEC, Grand Central, First Hull Trains and Govia Great Northern.
    There's a bonus surprise during this video and I'm hoping all you plane fans can help me identify it. At first I thought it was a Lancaster Bomber but the tail wasn't right. Could it be a flying fortress? Hopefully you guys can help me with it.
    I hope you all enjoy watching this as much I did filming here. My next film will be from Biggleswade but before that there will be an update video regarding my time on the East Coast Mainline so far and everything else you'll be able to look forward to for the rest of the year. Thanks very much for watching and enjoy.

    The plane was Boeing B17 Flying Fortress "Sally B", which is based at Duxford just down the road from Sandy.

    Cool video. I gotta say I like your narration, telling us the train numbers and models. Sounds very professional.
    A full Flying Scotsman set would like great on one of the VTEC sets.

      +AaronArmstrong030792 Thank you very much, I'm glad to hear my narration is going down well. I had been thinking about a full Flying Scotsman set for ages and I really do think it would go down brilliantly with not only train enthusiast but everyone who would see it

    A very nice video. The bridge there is known as New Zealand bridge. I fully agree the solar panels have spoiled the view but I can tell you from personal experience that the land there is of the heaviest clay and extremely difficult to work. I worked on that land in the late 1960's. The plane was definitely a B17. Looking to the North on the right side of the track just beyond the solar farm is the location of Tempsford Airfield, well worth a Google search. Most people cannot narrate a video in live time but I must say you do a fantastic job of it. Well done on an excellent video. Cheers, David.

      Ah right ok, well thank you very much for clarifying that for me. Whilst it's a shame that the land is near useless for commercial farming I just think that if they are going to have Solar farms installed then at least make it appealing to look at. I have to admit that I never knew that there was an airfield so close to Sandy. Everytime I've driven around the area I've never seen a sign for it. Thank you ever so much for watching my film and enjoying it :)

      Thanks for the reply. Please do some research on Tempsford Airfield. It was so hidden and so secret that Sandy locals didn't even know what had taken place there even during the 1960's. David.

    as always great video and audio the plane was ether a b17 or a British heavy bomber because the Lancaster is not the only British heavy ww2 bomber may have been a Halifax or Wellington bomber

      You'll find the 225 sets to be a bit more comfortable than the HST sets on certain sections of the line

    • @adamg8814
      @adamg8814 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** that's the one I'd prefer to ride too. But one question, isn't the HST meant to be called a 125?

    • @Tornado922
      @Tornado922  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah its known as a 125 because of its operating top speed. The 225 was given its name because of its top speed in kph

      @adamg8814 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tornado922 I went on a trip from Peterborough to York and back with a 225 on the way there and a HST on the way back. I agree that the 225 was a bit more comfortable as the seats were more comfy and the ride was smoother than on a HST. Also, it was surprising how quick you can get from Peterborough to York in just an hour and 15 minutes depending on what train you get.

    Aswear To Your Question
    A full Flying Scotsman set would like great on 2 of the VTEC 91s sets with VTEC Logos On It
    With 91101-82205 & 91125-82215 And Full Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Livery With DVT 82210 And What About A HST Skyone Livery With VTEC Logos On It What Do U Think Of That Mate??????????

  • @pooletrainboy

    yea it was a USAAF flying fortress

  • @syedhoque8009
    @syedhoque8009 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Reallt great video! :) I would like to see VTEC paint one of its 225 sets in the Flying Scotsman Livery in the VTEC colour scheme. It's a normal sight to see the USAAF Flying Fortress every now and then. Sometimes Vladimir Putin sends his Russian Bears in UK Airspace to intimidate Britain and attempt to start World War 3 and the Russian Bears can be seen anywhere in Britain. Anyway I'm looking forward to your next video! :-)
