Ray Stevenson played hands down the most bloodthirsty, romantic and polite villains ever, there were problems with later seasons but his performance isn’t one of them. RIP
He didn't want to live anymore, he had no reason to live. All he wanted was to rest with his lover at sea and only Dexter could take him to where he was.
Really like the scene where they're in the bar having a genuine conversation and starting to understand each other despite being enemies. RIP Ray Stevenson
What I like about Isaak as a villain is he didn't need to hide his villianous nature like most of the villains on Dexter but what he did need to hide was his softer loving side for Victor.
That's actually a pretty good observation. And a pretty good anthesis to dexter, given how he spends his time hiding his monster, Isaak is a monster who hides his humanity(his love with Victor and such)
The single best thing to come out from the last four seasons of Dexter, wish he lasted longer. I think the best part about their dynamic was that, despite checking all the items on Harry's Code, Dexter didnt want to kill him, and even took the time to "bury" him next the his lover.
Dude! The scene where Dexter is talking to Isaac in prison and Isaac tells the story about his great uncle and grandfather, notice how in the reflection in the glass their right eyes overlap. Like they're two halves. Fuh-king cool!
The way he chuckled you immediately realize omg he’s rooting for the dude who’s tryna kill hims grandpa rn 😂 but that’s just how much of a psychopath Dexter can be
Isaak was one of my favorite characters from the show. I was sad to hear of the actors death but I’ll always remember him as the very patient and methodical man we see here.
I don’t think talking on a prison phone would be wise. I’m pretty sure they record all incoming and outgoing communications in prison lol. Minor nitpick but I always hated this trope in movies.
@@joaquingomez4609 even if they do record it, unless something happens or there's an active investigation into one of the parties having the conversation, they don't really listen to those recordings.
I think Isaac is much more aware than others. But he also killed 3 or 4 gangsters when he was the one being ambushed, AND he has nothing to lose. Even he figures he's got a 50/50 shot, he'd probably be taking it.
That he did a bright spot even in the declining seasons, heck I even liked Colin Hanks as a true believing fanatic though no one does I get why, but yeah Issac was great.
Isaak was the best part about the final seasons. The “gentlemanly understanding” conversation Dexter and Isaac had was one of the best moments in the shows history.
Watching these two men together in that difficult story line was fabulous! They were so well suited to the parts, and you could see how they would have been great friends under different circumstances.
I was so confused about why people weren't like "oh yeah they gay" at first, and then the reveal scene happens, and I was like "yeah, duh.." and then I remembered that shit was much less talked about a decade ago.
That's because Isaak is the only villain in the series who isn't a serial killer. He's a mob boss and hitman with a substantial bodycount, but not out of some need to kill like everyone else, but simply part of his dirty, criminal underworld. Miguel technically wasn't a serial killer, but he was a borderline sociopath with how much he manipulated every single person around him and built his entire legacy out of lies. I'd also argue that Kurt wasn't mentally unstable, but rather, a genuinely evil man. He has that need to kill too, but is far more self aware and downright gleeful about his bodycount, to where he's literally boasting about it to Dexter when he meets his end.
@@vicwaters87 Oh, but Kurt was quite unstable. All the drama around what he did, theatricality, ritual, preparing bodies and it all because someone wanted to leave the town? I'd argue that petty "motive" and ritualistic M.O. is sign of very little mental stability. Maybe he was, hmm, "least unstable out of unstable ones", but I'd argue he still wasn't quite sane.
I’ve got to admit Dexter was low key afraid for his life knowing Issac was after him. Let’s just say Dexter doesn’t get “scared” for his life too often! I loved this little villain in this season for sure 👍
He wasnt scared for himself in the slightest. Only for those close to him like Debra and Harrison. Did you not see the scene at the restaurant and how quickly he shifts fear over to Isaac? People forget that that this isnt a show about a hero protagonist. This is a show that shifts the POV over to the monster who has just enough charisma that we can root for him.
Isaak character was full Charisma. I m a big fan of M.C.Hall as Dexter but, this season he was almost shadowed by Isaak's charisma and talent. Whoever choose the outfits for almost all the cast but especially Ukranian Mob did splendid job. Hannah is another story ofc and bec of these 2 guests I like this season very very much. '' While I was incarcerated I found myself plagued with a nagging question '' seriously... who writes these lines are massively underrated.
I always found it kind of stupid that the police watched the two of them talking. They'd obviously be interested in what's going on, but nothing ever came of it. Also his death was pretty upsetting, they seemed like they could have become good buds.
Those officers are boots and have no standing so Dexter probably knew he was safe. But ya, a lot of times where I felt this is how anyone would get caught lol
The bar scene between Dexter and Issak and Dexter is one of my favorite scenes throughout the whole series. Ray Stevenson had a great arc and I am glad Dexter didn't kill him.
