- Superman Ride of Steel Front Row On-Ride POV, 4K Ultra HD. Six Flags America. Usually criticized for being a boring layout, this classic coaster gets better with every year because of the older transitions and trains that are used on the machine. The classic Intamin T Bars and open seating, combined with the high-speed and low-ground sections, the ride is a classic Intamin that is awesome! Lots of straight track and just all-around awesome feeling. #rollercoaster #intamin #rides #themepark
Six Flags America is located in Bowie, MD - "The Thrill Capital of DC"
"Welcome to the world of the hypercoaster. This all-new category of roller coaster is so intense they had to come up with a whole new category for it. Hypercoasters are the modern breed of oversized roller coaster that are pumped up to more than 200 feet tall. SUPERMAN: Ride of Steel easily clears that distinction, with a height of 205 feet and a mind-blowing 200-foot drop.
At a whopping 73 miles per hour, you will zoom through a staggering 5,400 feet of twisting red track, on a wide-open layout that will truly give you a sense of the superhuman. You’ll take low-banked turns just skimming right over the ground. Then, a series of hills and DNA helixes will show you what’s possible once you put on a cape and fly. You did bring your cape, right?" Six Flags

Six Flags America Roller Coaster - Superman Ride of Steel
Rode this over 20 years ago and I still recall my joy when the rumbling noise of the train disappears as you hit the big airtime hills and the train just floats over. Lovely.
People who criticise it don't appear to have ridden it? ;)
The ride is definitely getting up there in age with its rattle, but it still has one of the best first drops I’ve ever experienced.
1:11 best part of the ride
🤣
The only people who think the layout is boring are the ones who haven't ridden it. That guy was floating in his seat the entire length of his "whoaaaaaaaa", and the one coming back is nearly as good. Speed, airtime, intensity. That's what makes a coaster great.
When people say that the layout is boring, I guess they don't think about the airtime hills but the 2 big helices in the middle of the ride...
Stop lying to yourself. This layout makes no sense outside of Darien lake where it has the setting going for it. SFA should have gone with the B layout that New England has. The funny thing is New England only got the B layout because it didn't have space for a clone. But yeah, the helix are boring. The 5 air hills are great though.
@@lastone032085 hahahahaha! By gosh, you're right. I DIDN'T have any fun the four times I rode this in the same day!!
@@michaelanderson2881 I'm not saying it's a bad ride. I'm saying it has more wasted potential than pretty much any other Intamin. 7/10
Some rides get the "boring" label if they don't meet certain visual criteria. Massive loops, drops, blah blah. What this ride looks to have is the feeling of being weightless. That feeling of "flight". Loops and gimmicks don't work for that. The speed, the hills, and that weightlessness is epic on a ride.
this looks way better than i remember! that’s fast
The sound of the chain lift is like asmr lol
This is a great ride...one of my favs...and I have been to alot of parks. It does not get much attention but that first hill is really good and there is alot of airtime for sure throughout the ride. Super fun ride.
Looks like a great coaster to me!!
The hill after the first helix feels so good!! Zero gravity!!
This roller-coaster is one of my absolute favorites! Front row is where you want to be. The Raptor in Universal is awesome, too.
Over the river and through the woods...lol unique layout.
Having ridden its sister coaster at SFDL, this layout isn't good but what works works really well. The camelback after the straight track is perfect
I am so jealous of you guys, thanks for the videos
I went on this a year ago and it is a very intimadating ride but after you ride it that first time, it's just fun!
I think SFNE was going to get one of these clones but the layout wouldn’t fit. So they designed a custom coaster instead and it became the best Superman coaster on the planet.
We have the original at my home park, Six Flags Darien Lake. Seems so weird to riding it the opposite way! Lol. Fun ride, but the ride gets just a little bit rougher as the years pass. Doesn't prevent me from riding it though.
Hi Brenden. Looks fun.❤❤❤
Def pre 2008 and precovid with those THOUSANDS of feet of straight track and all those cement pours. Def appreciate this. No lie all the 99 to 2001 hypers are getting better with age. Nitro not really because it was the standout and has since been perfected. But i feel like the more obscure hypers like this, raging bull, and the morgan/chance ones are getting love these days. I dont think the second helix was necessary but whatever lol its an intamin hyper wannabe kings island Beast
Agree 💯
Can't wait❤
I love Jesus so much
I have been trying to ride this FOREVER! Every single time I visited this park, it was closed!!!
I went on this and it was sooo fun
I greyed out on the first helix
Hello sir, could I use your footage for video about Ride Of Steel Tragedy in 2011 ( I will add credit and link to this video) ?
I know some guys who nicknamed this «The Lord of the Rings: The Ride » because of those endless helixes
That's like the ride shock wave at a different six flags
reminds me a lot of magnum
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Where is this ride??? At first i thought it was new england but that ones way better and u can see the CT river
Largo/Bowie, Maryland near Washington DC
Is this in GURNEE ILLINOIS
What. I rode the New England version and remember it being incredible. This looks like the kiddie version. Two over 360 degree helixes, why? Looks bumpy, dated, zero theming.
Weeeeeeeeeeeee 😊
its like they left out a few elements to leave it out of the world class conversation...why intamin why....probably six flags cutting budget
The darien lake version is better tbh
That one is good I’ve been on it
Six Flags should give up on this park and sell it to Parques Reunidos/Palace Entertainment the owners of Kennywood because Six Flags is lazy but I think Palace/Parques Reunidos would help turn this park around.
People from google fyp:
If this ride had decent restraints, it would be so much better, but those shin guards are God awful
Lacks so much theming. I mean, you can’t just paint the tracks and supports red and blue, put a Superman logo on the train and say it’s a Superman ride. You look at what Disney does with their coasters, like the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster and it’s just a million times better than something like this
The six flags new England one is better
Superman at sfne is way better and longer just saying
Underwhelming
