- KTVU reporter Alex Savidge hugs and thanks his photographer Chip Vaughan for yelling at him to get out of the way before nearly being hit by a car on live TV. Alex also wants his wife to know he's ok.

We were up this morning watching KTVU morning news when this happened and there was shouting, a couple of knocks, and then the screen went dark.
When Dave and Gasia (the anchors) explained what had happened and that Alex was OK, we were so relieved. Seeing this emotional moment with Alex and his cameraman brought us all to tears. We are al so happy that Alex is well. The shock of what happened was so sudden and intense.
Our family in Novato wish Alex all the best with lots of love.
This brought me to tears and I dont't understand why.
Sympathetic response and that's good and normal to have. The poor man was shaken to his core, trying to regain his composure to carry on in a professional way and it's emotional watching him struggle to do so.

I have experienced getting hit by a truck first hand. I was riding my bike, and a guy ran a red, trying to make the light. My bike was crushed under the pickup, and my head broke the driver's windshield. Could've easily been worse, I was very lucky I walked away with just some legions on the side of my head and a severe concussion. I understand this guy's fear, and I respect him for trying to continue on, and more importantly, for telling his wife and family he is alright. He obviously loves his family, and moments and close calls like the one he had only remind you of how lucky you are to be alive, and to appreciate what you have in this life. Cheers

I had a feeling like that once. I was driving with my friend at night when someone came out of a car running towards us with a gun. As soon as he passed us, he started shooting the car right behind me (I heard that the driver was hit but not killed).
Getting super lucky like that seriously freaked me out, and made me thankfull knowing that it could have easily been me that was shot if I was just a couple feet away. Kind of like Alex and the camera man here.

That car might have not totally killed him (still could have, but for the neigh Sayers) it could have messed up his legs or he could have wound up with head trauma ending his career. I feel like thinking of the lively hood of his family caused him to be emotional.
