- For those whose job it is to report or comment on tragedies like the Texas elementary school shooting, that job is getting increasingly difficult. CNN anchor Kate Bolduan tearfully told viewers, “Hug your family. Tell them you love them.” CBS Mornings’ Gayle King spoke of “deep, deep sadness,” noting that “nothing seems to change.” “Nothing that can ever be said,” offered Stephen Colbert, can “replace the immeasurable grief of those families.”
I don’t blame her. It’s normal human instincts. Rest In Peace to those beautiful children and teachers ☹️

Every day I send my son to school with the thought that I'll see him when he gets home. That's what all of these parents thought too. This is heartbreaking. I hope one day the families involved can find some sort of peace after this tragedy. I'm sorry to all of you.

I got sexually assaulted in Elementary school and the cops did nothing and the school did nothing due to the student lying. Still scared.

seeing all the children being identified breaks my heart, they were children and getting ready for summer break. they should’ve made it home yesterday, they barely even lived life. it’s truly devastating, it hurts my heart so much

I went to school in Burnet TX, and in middle school one of the mothers from sandy hook talked to us, and told us about her son that she lost… It makes me so sad how much of a difference they tried to make and this still happens… praying for these families 😔

imagine those kids smiling or laughing minutes before it all went down, imagine some of them being excited to go home and eat their favorite meal, imagine their future... I hate this world more and more each day, I don't trust anyone. My son is starting school later this year and not only do I worry if his teachers will be kind to him and not abuse him in any way, I also have to worry about some lunatic running into his school with a gun. There's no words to describe how I feel about this tragedy but I am so god damn sick and tired of hearing about it on the news. Something must be done. I refuse to be numbed by bloodshed, I refuse to accept that this is a "crazy" world we live in. I refuse it all. Something can be done and it must.

I just can’t with people like this. They need help and to be talked and looked at before anything like this happens ever again look at your surroundings, make sure you look and see clues of unstable behavior just pointing it out.
Unfortunately the pro-gun party has also actively worked to limit access to mental health by opposing the ACA and Medicaid expansion.
All the tears, silence, prayers and condolences mean nothing until we actually take action. And no administration nor political party is willing to do a thing worth a damn.

This was such a horrible day in history? I think every parent shedded a tear while hearing this including me. The hardest part was seeing the pictures of the victims and seeing how young and inoccent these kids were. God bless their souls.

Common sense gun regulations help keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them. A universal healthcare system would've also ensured people were addressing his mental insurability. Real solutions for real problems.

We have failed as a society , times , social media , and the foundation at home . There is a lot of questions coming out as the killer posted what he was doing on social media 30 minutes prior . None of his friends or ex friends reported him at all . Cops were on the sidelines for 45 minutes before engaging . What a mess .

When I herd this I cried I have a little one myself, I cannot imagine dropping him off and never being able to hold him, hug him or watch him grow up. I remember the worst part of going to school was the social awkwardness and trying fit in. These poor kids, parents, staff have to feel anxiety every single day now....its unreal.

It angers me soo much how politicians jump on these school shootings to take advantage of peoples sadness and anger to manipulate them into supporting laws that will do nothing to help. The biggest issue at hand is mental health. In literally every schools shooting there is a kid who has demonstrated plenty of red flags and yet the authorities do nothing. I believe that there should be a trained psychologist in every school that works along side the councillors to determine the best course of action for students with mental health issues. On top of that, there shouldn’t be so many barriers put in place that prevent psychologists and councillors from taking the proper course of action.
Sure, but in the event a certified crazy person gets their hands on a gun and shows up at a school, then what? When you think about it long enough, all roads lead to needing armed personnel at schools.
It’s not that simple, most schools don’t have the funding to hire on a certified psychologist. To hire one that’s 80,000 down the drain each year.

All the reforms and laws in the world couldn't have prevented the p.o.s. from doing this because he committed a crime, which makes his a criminal. Criminals don't follow the law. Stricter gun laws punish only law abiding citizens plain and simple. And the background check is on the FEDERAL level, not state.
