    You darn near rode past my house! Those roads/trails are my stomping grounds. Some of the best gravel around. Hit me up if you are back in the area I am happy to share some of the other amazing rural/gravel routes we have up here. I usually choose the upper campground at Sibley for a more “remote” feel. Great park, great ride. Ride safe amigo!

    Great video Kevin! Hats off the the Parks and Trails Council for sponsoring this video. They should have you do these bikepacking trips all over the state to promote our great MN State Parks and trail systems.
    What an excellent way to demonstrate the practical access to state trails and parks from a metro area like St. Cloud. Really enjoyed how you tied in the park history and the planned development of the new bike infrastructure for the connection of the Glacial Lakes Trail and Sibley State Park. Love your drone shots, they really add to the beauty and professionalism of your video! Let me know how I can be an advocate to Parks and Trails to sponsor more videos like this.

    In Michigan, we have the Great Lake to lake trail. It is just like Minnesota’s glacial lake state trail. New York State has just completed a similar trail, itself. It appears that most states are building cycling and multi use trails like this. I just rode Michigan’s trail this past summer. It was an awesome adventure and the first (of many still yet!) adventure I’ve undertaken. It was so accessible that it was almost as easy as stepping out my front door, in Detroit, to get on the trail. It may not be as epic as the great divide trail, but these kind of trails offer great adventures that anyone can do.

    • @KevDoes
      @KevDoes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the beauty of them! The accessibility outweighs the "cool" factor most days

      I live in Minnesota and lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan for a few years. There's a trail that goes northeast from Grand Rapids, not sure if goes all the way to Lake Michigan or if they're building one that does. But my favorite bicycling was on the scenic country roads, I was warned of course to be careful about cars because, you know, Michigan drivers.

    Hello Kevin, enjoyed your latest video. I have a winter Texan friend that lives in Woodbury. I've gone up there a few times in the summer to ride. (I live in south Texas) I will say that I'm always impressed with the cycling infrastructure you have in Minnesota. My longest ride was a few years back when we rode from Woodbury to Duluth, with a large portion on a paved trail and the rest on rural highways. We did not "rough it" but stayed in local hotels and one night at a warmshowers host. I've ridden in the area a lot and into SW Wisconsin to include parts of the Sparta trail, which is really nice. Now I have another area to explore when I return but I'll wait until summer! Thanks again, if you have a link to your route on a mapping app let me know.

    That was good of you to try to pull those fallen trees off the trail. I never seem to have my chain saw with me when I'm bicycling and come across things like that. I think my wife and I and oldest daughter (than a toddler) stayed at Sibley State Park in 1975 just after we moved to St. Cloud, where we then lived for a few years. We did some bicycle riding on the roads nearby. (I didn't remember the name of the park, but it was a state park near Willmar with a lake next to the campground. In 2016 I rode some of the trail from the New London area to Willmar. I had been doing some long day rides in the area, and that was the easiest way to get back to Willmar. Until I saw your video I didn't know it was part of a trail that will go all the way to St. Cloud. I liked the parts shown on your video where trees haven't grown up along the trail and one can still see things. I wish some of the rail trails would keep the trees and brush cut down enough to enable one to see the scenery, but that would probably be expensive. And on a hot day, I've been known to get off the roads and take a trail instead so I can be in the cool shade. Some of us are hard to please. Anyhow, it was good to get all the information you provided.
