Its a beautiful thing when people behave and are respectful! Last year I had a group of friends from Mexico visit Chicago for the first time and it was during Mexican Independence day celebrations. Their question was, "Is this who represents us? Is this what people think of us in the US?" Reffering to all the reckless actions they saw.
@@LuisGonzalez-tr7os no . That are many young people who been out partying. In the neighborhood near home , a few here and there act this way , but most are respectful
I’m gonna be real and just say I’m Mexican, born and raised in Chicago in little village and some of the stuff our people do downtown and in other areas of the city especially last year is just out of control and kinda embarrassing how it reflects on us as a whole. I think the part @11:54 is quite telling when they were singing the national anthem like 95% of these pochos didn’t know a single word and were all quiet. But then they go and turn up all crazy making a scene with the flags and shyt riding around. I just think that’s kind of funny. But overall seems like this year things were a little less disorderly.
Mexicans are taught their national anthem in primary school. Many, many mexican immigrants, like our own parents, came from rural areas and lifestyles that hindered their education. Most Mexican-Americans are taught and graded on memorizing the American national anthem, not the Mexican one. These are perfectly reasonable explanations for the quietness at this gathering. There was respect. People weren't having side conversations during the Mexican anthem. They may not know the words, but that doesn't make them any less worth of celebrating their heritage. That being said, getting goofy on the streets should have its limits and gets embarrassing. To me, it's a separate issue.
@@EatBailaTravelI think you missed the point of the comment. If they're going to be acting wild and dragging Mexicos name through the ground, at least...THE LEAST THEY COULD DO is know what they're representing. Know the anthem words, the pledge of allegiance, THE HISTORY. But these people claim to be there to celebrate Mexico yet all they do is leave a truly bitter taste and awful image of Mexican culture. You both make good points but I think the op meant something else. They kind of ruin it for everyone.

It just reminds me of when I was congratulated for surviving teen pregnancy on my 18th birthday. I felt both insulted and complimented at the same time. Confusing lol
We didn’t learn the actual history until we started doing research to make videos on this TH-cam channel. Growing up in the US education system doesn’t teach us these things (understandably so). Most people know the basics: Mexico was colonized by Spain, wanted freedom, fought for it, and won. And that’s enough information to feel proud and happy for your heritage country, I think.
I had every intention to go this year as I was already there visiting my fam in Chicago but opted to return to my new home Colorado to go back to work 🤮
I still don't get the Latino thing. I wish more people knew about how this Latin American concept started and slowly but surely we all start using it less. Unfortunately ignorance prevails for instance Centro American countries did not become independent from Spain, they became independent from the Mexican empire at a different day (Not Sep 15th). Also they never fought for their independence. So, I don't get why they celebrate their independence on the same day. Why is it like that? I guess Centro American countries decided to bend the true and teach their citizens a lie.The same as Mexican gov teaches their citizens about the Latin American concept which bad... anyway.....
Is it really ignorance or simply a negotiation? I’m not sure of what Central/South American countries teach their citizens but every country teaches their own version of the truth, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. The US teaches us that there are 7 continents while most of the rest of the world recognizes 5.
The Guatemalan guy is so so WRONG, Central Americans independence day is the *15th* and Mexico is the *16th* . Mexico starts celebrating early turning it into a 2 day celebration of festivities. Its Mexican tradition to start on the 15th and go into the 16th partying kinda like New Years Eve and New years. Yes you are correct Central America has an ACT of Independence the 15th of September which means they just declared independence BUT Mexico has a WAR of Independence September 16th which means our country was at full declared war with Spain. Central America was able to declare independence because Mexico made it possible to for them to do so and Central America also have another independence day which is the Independence of Mexican Empire July 1st. Mexico gave them their independence without war it was amicable.
@@EatBailaTravel History has always been used to shape the present but when the history is twisted for a purpose or facts are hidden, well it's not a simple negotiation.Did you know that the US invaded Mexico and told the mx gov that they must accept money for the territories that they occupied otherwise they would take the entire country so you don't find this in history books. Yes, it is ignorance of the people not to know their countries' history . Remember ignorance is not an insult, it is just the lack of knowledge. i hope you don't feel ofended. Let's learn more about Mexico which is world on its own.
It’s not, but it’s the way we celebrate independence, even if this date only means the day the war for independence began. The exact date of independence was not agreed upon. Mexicans claim the year 1821 while Spanish sources don’t recognize Mexico as independent until 1827.
Yes it is. Are you even Mexican? Mexican independence day is the 16th of September 1810 we base it off the War of Independence which is different to the declaration of independence. The reason you think its the 15th is that in Mexico Mexicans start the celebration on the 15th as it goes into the 16th like New Years Eve and New Years. That why we do the "Grito" aka originates from "Grito de dolores" becasue it is what kicked of the Independence war of Mexico which we consider the day we considered ourselves us Mexicans independent. Its Mexican tradition!
@@EatBailaTravel But the 16th of September of 1810 is the Declaration of the Mexican War of Independence from Spain. Even if Spain didn't recognize it USA did and so did other European countries. The war ended on Sep 27 of 1821. It wasn't until 1836 that Spain finally recognized Mexican Independence and before that they continued to try to take back Mexico by invading Mexico from within and from the outside. Declaration of Independence of the Mexican Empire was Sep 28, 1821 drafted one day after the war with Spain ended and Mexico prevailed. Que Viva Mexico!!!
@@1988vikable it is the start of the war for independence. Don’t get triggered now just educating people. We should say that the 16th marks the start for mexico seeking to gain independence. I was just in dolores hidalgo a few weeks ago and i loved it. I am an american of mexican descent.
@@EatBailaTravel i know but i think it is important we highlight that it was el grito de dolores that we are celebrating and how it kick starts our journey to freedom. So many people think 9/16 is independence day and even cinco de mayo. Just food for thought. I enjoyed the video.

I think the term is meant to be more inclusive of other Spanish-speaking ethnicities (hence, the term “Hispanic”). Yes the main Hispanic population in the USA is Mexican/Mexican-American, but all of our brothers and sisters from Latin America deserve to celebrate their heritage as well. That being said, I’m not a big fan of the word “Hispanic” but I go with it for the sake of being inclusive

I think it was a lil bit too much, they are in another country. Also, many of them arrived illegally. If Mexico is that awesome then go back to Mexico. It’s very disrespectful to the US.
😮 No sé. Desde México es algo anecdótico las celebraciones fuera del país. Triste que la presencia mexicana sólo esté presente en fiestas y no en el congreso, diriendo políticas a favor del migrante mexicano.
if it's so disrespectful to the US, then why did the state and city government organize this whole official celebration for people? Don't come out here trying to rain on people's parade. Americans celebrate the 4th of July in Mexico City. It's called international relations and diplomacy.
@@EatBailaTravel it doesn’t matter if the City organized it, its not right to shutdown the main streets of Chicago, NYC or LA to celebrate a foreign countries Independence. Mexico City’s would never give permission to celebrate US independence to Americans.

Gracias gracias!! 🙏🏽
Do they celebrate 4th of July in mexico? Just curious 🤔
Mexicans don’t but US Americans are starting to celebrate it since there’s been an increase of US Americans moving to Mexico.
Actually they do! The US Embassy participates and the community of American expats and immigrants in Mexico will get together for a celebration in Mexico City, I’m not sure about other cities, though.
@EatBailaTravel The reason I was asking is because I live in a border town in Tx and i know lots of people from Mexico and many of them or most of them don't even celebrate mexican independence day and they don't understand why they make a big deal about it in the US
Yes they do in ajijik

It seems kind of strange to be celebrating Mexican independence outside Mexico.
What's even more difficult is explaining Cinco de Mayo to a Mexican. The usual response is: "Ok. Thanks for the beer."
LOTS of international holidays are celebrated in the US!

Last time I went to grant park for taste of Chicago and I didn’t think I was going to make it out alive. I can’t imagine going to Mexican independence celebration. It gets bad just over the border in INDIANA. Too many drunks trying to start trouble.. I can’t even imagine in the middle
Of Chicago.
Chicago is already a challenging city... large gatherings like this are definitely risky!
I don’t get why people are so negative. Everyone has the right to live out their identity as they see themselves. People can celebrate where their ancestors came from even if they now live in the US. Diversity makes the US unique. Viva Mexico, Viva Estados Unidos y Viva la cultura! ❤

"The contributions Mexican-Americans make" Not Mexicans which are the majority. LMAO.
I took that to include Mexican immigrants who live in the USA and are now Mexican-Americans also
Most don't know what they're celebrating.
Happy birthday Porfirio Diaz 🎈🎈 😅

Vive Mexico 🇲🇽 🎉

9/16 is not Mexican independence day
It’s not, but it’s the way we celebrate independence, even if this date only means the day the war for independence began.
