I think the words of mister historian man are actually REALLY old, and that nocturne was born in the shadow isles, then used him to actually get to demacia in the first place.
But wait, something doesn't add up here: Jens says he paid transport to Fossbarrow. Fossbarrow was named after Fossian Crownguard, who was buried there after defeating Nocturne at the cost of his life. If Jens was the one to bring Nocturne to Demacia in the first place, the town wouldn't be named Fossbarrow, as a barrow is a form of tomb, which Fossian didn't require until his battle with Nocturne. At the same time, Nocturne stated that he was awakened by the fear of the young boy, Luca, so Fossbarrow should be the place where he reemerged. Also, Jens is a historian from Fossbarrow, right? So on the other hand, had he travelled to the Shadow Isles after Nocturnes attack on Fossbarrow, he should have recognized Nocturnes M.O., which... makes little sense, honestly, unless: The demon of Fossbarrow was not actually Nocturne. The way I see it, it's the only plausible solution. Nocturne emerged on the Shadow Isles because the general aura of fear allowed him to cross over. He infected Jens and was taken to Fossbarrow, where a little boy, full of fear, went to the tomb of Fossian in hope that the legend of the defeated demon would give him strength... which Nocturne abused to pose as this very demon.

I like this theory, except for the fact Fossbarrow is supposed to be named after the guy who defeated Nocturne. So unless the name is just mentioned here so we actually know where he went (which is an odd way of doing it) I doubt this is the case.

It seems like almost every region has their own world ending force with noxis having morde. bilgewater is the region that is at least mostly affected by the shadow isles with some others also being affected as well. Shurima having zerath and the void. Ryze has the world runes hidden in demacia. Frelijord have the watchers. Ionia are really the ones fighting demons although really everywhere is affected by demons. targon has the celestials that could probably just destroy the world if they wanted. man i swear You and VaatiVidya have one of the best voices for story telling(even tho ur eng sounds alittle broken it has something unique), ive watched/listened almost all ur vids!
It’s worth noting from Fiddlesticks’ trailer; one of the Demacian soldiers, Tedric, mentions “the whole country’s on edge after Fossbarrow,” and the in-game loading screen tips mention that Nocturne really fucked up Fossbarrow. In the “present day” of runeterra lore, Fiddlesticks and Nocturne are both currently terrorizing Demacia iirc, so I think these cards are meant to describe this historian carrying Nocturne back to Demacia with him and unintentionally allowing the destruction of Fossbarrow that helped catalyze Demacia’s magophobia and fuel Sylas’ revolution.
My issue with kindred mean in the Shadow Isles is that when you buy the blade of the ruined King oh, Kindred states that it comes from a place where we cannot trread.
Fun Fact: The Onlooker owl thing was propably inspired by the Stygian Owl, a species of owl that if something bright meets their gaze the eyes turn Red and scary!
I think this is after the point when lux defeated nocturne and he went back to a dormant state, otherwise the city of fossbarrow would'nt be mentioned because it was named so when fossian crownguard defeated nocturne, the fact that there is a town named after so is the fact that nocturne came from there most likely. I am not making only speculations here, remember what is haunting fossbarrow right now; Fiddlesticks. demons don't like to share turfs ( it is evident from their interactions in the summoner's rift, evelynn's and tahm kench's) also fiddlesticks feasts on-base fear making whatever nocturne would do would just feed fiddlesticks, so it is best if he moved to another location.
I dunno if kindred can be from shadow isles. Their voiceline in LoL refers to it as "a land unwelcome to us" (when buying the blade of the ruined king)
I’m so glad you finally talked about this, cause tbh I was LIVID when nocturne was added to the shadow isles. Honestly it feels like they cared less about lore than making things simple. Fear and shadowy creatures are already part of the cards for shadow isles thematically. I 100% agree kindred will be made into a shadow isles champ despite them literally hating the undead. It’s something that frustrates me, knowing logically nocturne would fit ionia or demacia, but the game makes more sense to a newcomer if you keep spooky cards together. It’s honestly the same reason they made teemo a zaun card, put poison themed cards together, despite him being literally everywhere, having a forest/jungle scout theme, and also I believe at some point lore used to suggest he picked the mushrooms himself in a jungle? (Maybe even ixtal?)
i wonder if demons are fixed in one place completely, like say Nocturne's physical form (or part of it) is trapped as fossburrow but he can still influence were ever he can. this could also explain why the historian was heading for fossburrow, if Nocturne tricked him with his dreams to try and free him
SHURIMA SPOILER: The wrong audios from the Thorny Toad indicate a kindred follower, it mentions masks and we even have a picture for it: a weid looking creature/spirit with lots of masks
I think you're right about Riot putting a champion where he fits best. Tahm Kench is also a demon, so he would fit to wherever you want. But Bilgewater is just the perfect place for Tahm. Perhaps they even plan to spread the demons around in Legends of Runeterra and Demacia is reserved for Fiddlesticks. But that's just a weird thought that popped into my mind.
11:30 I'm hoping that Kindred gets cards in every region; not necessarily a Kindred for every region, mind, but different sorts of effects/cards for each.
Its like a paranoid, Looking over my back. Its like a whirlwind Inside of my head. Its like i Can't stop what im hearing within, Its like a face inside thats right Beneath my skin!
Necrit I don’t think Kindred will be in Shadow Isles since they can’t go there. I’m referring to the voice line when they buy BOTRK “Forged in a land unwelcome to us”
I think if they have nowhere else to put them, Kindred will be in Shadow Isles since so many of the card mechanics from that region revolve around killing units, even your own.
I thaught you were gona spoil that Malzahar is coming to Legends of Runeterra. Because Riot made a mistake of giving a card called Thorny toad a actual voice. And there was a lot of speculation that that voice belonged to Malzahar. Since it sounded really similiar
My thoughts on this: 1. I actually don't think the beasts from Nocturnes set are the usual hybrid beasts of the isles: They are all seen on Nocturnes card, forming from his darkness. Also, the monsters of the isle almost always have a color scheme of ghostly green and black, somethimes with a blue hue. The creatures that seem connected to Nocturne have red glowing eyes and some of them have a lot more browns to them. The Evershade Stalkers in particular also make no sense as SI based creatures, because while the other creatures, the Duskrider, the Doombeast and the Onlooker *could* be at least replicas of actual creatures the looters encountered and therefore fear now, the Stalkers don't fit the animal-hybrid theme and are more akin to evil fairly tale imps. So I think they are the kind of shadow monsters that Garen fought in Fossbarrow. 2. I do not think Nocturne is the demon of Fossbarrow. It may have used the legend to its advantage, but its claim of being revived by Lucas fear makes no sense: Fossbarrow is named after Fossian Crownguard, who died defeating a demon. 'Barrow' is a type of tomb, so we can assume the town was named after Fossians sacrifice, in memory of a fallen hero. Jens Tommen knew the town as Fossbarrow, so he visited the Shadow Isles after the death of Fossian. Had Nocturne been the demon of Fossbarrow, it should have been dormant at that time, and had it used Jens Tommen to return to Demacia, its claim that it was reawoken by Luca would have been incorrect. Why call yourself the demon of Fossbarrow, only to then lie about how you returned, if not because you aren't the demon of Fossbarrow and just use that story as a cover to hide who you really are? Alternatively Jens could have visited the isles after Nocturne was unleashed in Fossbarrow, but then wouldn't have Tommens quotes shown some sense of recognition for the nightmare power that plagued his hometown? Not to mention his quote mentioning Fossbarrow would then be pointless.
I just want to see more expressive interactions from kindred, like their joke in Summoners rift. Not just their plain emotionless quote about death. And kindred way more make sense to be part of demacia imo, cause the default kindred is their representation in Demacia.
The reason why Noc is in shadow isles is pretty simple - Demacia has no cards to support his playstyle, neither thematically, nor mechanically. Shadow Isles didn't quite fit thematically (aside from all that monster thing), but fit mechanically perfectly, so they made a logical decision to put him there instead of saturating Demacia faction with some shadow demons and spells to support him.
I really wish we would get more information on the Blessed Isles. What happened to turn them? What about its people? Are any potential survivors still in Runeterra?
I think since the cards that came with nocturne has a more Orange lights kind of gave it more of a different feel like it was spooky Demacia instead of green shadow isles
Maybe noc just was a lesser demon arond the blessed isles when the ruination happened, a lot of fear to feed from and bam, the fear of an entire nation of powerful mages made him what he is, I wouldn't put this explanation beyond riot
kinna hope we get the SI version of kindred. like how Spiritblossom is the ionian version. would be a cool way to show us one of their other interpretations
I mean the creatures connected to nocturne are just like the shadows he spawned in the story that Garen fought while Lux went to deal with the kid at the end of the story they arnt real creatures.
Quick theory: I think Nocturne's followers are just different versions of Nocturne himself, nightmarish forms he takes to adapt to his prey (mostly because they don't fit the usual Green/blue theme of the Iles, but rather the black smoky armored esthetic of Nocturne) Also I think Tommens is the one appearing in most of the cards, the one with the Mustache who's being stalked by Nocturne until he kills him, and then he becomes the peaky specter haunting his old companions (the ones sitting with him in Nocturne's leveled up version) So in the end I think Tommens left from Fossbarrow (to explore the Shadow Iles or something) with Nocturne leaching onto him, then because of the horrors of the Iles the demon started taking different shapes and ended up killing him turning him into a Specter Let me know what you think!😁

Fun Fact: The Onlooker owl thing was propably inspired by the Stygian Owl, a species of owl that if something bright meets their gaze the eyes turn Red and scary!
taking an idea from "hardcore leveling warrior" I think nocturnes counter is that he's a dream and all dreams have to end.
Because the Shadow Isles cards have themes of Nightfall of Fearsome, and Nocturne has synergies with both Fearsome and Nightfall.
The ruins might only hold back the mist/shadow isles creatures, but Nocturne's creatures are different.
I was tormented by my dreams for many years and I have to agree with the torment card.
Nocturne has been a wandering soul all along
That thorny toad audio confused me for like a week straight
@@shockal7269 I was so scared. The first time it happened to me it was very late at night
Bro. That Nocturne card looks sick. Hopefully
that's what the update for him looks like at some point.
the fact that i thought maokai was a bad guy changed my mind about him when necrit said he's the one that is going to revive blessed isle
Just reminder Heacrim getting an VFX Update and getting new event "Shadow of War", maybe related to shadow isles.
Nocturne there can be only one dream monster I chalange you to rite of rak'shir
I think you're right about Riot putting a champion where he fits best. Tahm Kench is also a demon, so he would fit to wherever you want. But Bilgewater is just the perfect place for Tahm. Perhaps they even plan to spread the demons around in Legends of Runeterra and Demacia is reserved for Fiddlesticks. But that's just a weird thought that popped into my mind.
YES The spoiler is just what I needet finaly more lore for Kindred a champ with so much potenzial.
11:30 I'm hoping that Kindred gets cards in every region; not necessarily a Kindred for every region, mind, but different sorts of effects/cards for each.
So if the Shadow Isles is like Barovia... does that mean Viego is Strahd?
"Because He's a shadow. " Video ends
Its like a paranoid,
Looking over my back.
Its like a whirlwind
Inside of my head.
Its like i
Can't stop what im hearing within,
Its like a face inside thats right
Beneath my skin!
It's basically asking why is there shadows in a dark place
How is there a shadow in a dark place
My thoughts on this:
Shadow isle are like chernobyl.
Shadow isle: Animals turns into horror
Chernobyl: Mutations
Wasn't the whale's tooth featured in a story with Kalista and Vladimir in the Realms of Runeterra book?
or am i misatributing?
I was actually just thinking that so you may be right
I just want to see more expressive interactions from kindred, like their joke in Summoners rift.
That place (the inn) has its own story in the book. The one with vlad and kalista
Please post more often I need my dose 😭😭😭😭
Its pretty sure however that kindred will not be demacia as j4 will be the demacian champion comming in the new expansion
Wonder if the Shadow Isles card will contain one with soup.
they will add kindred to shurima because it is the oldest lasting empire since ages, shurima fits the theme more than any other region
No, there are no other leaks for a shadow isles champ so it definitely fits SI
I honestly figured they were just going to make a spirit realm section for all the demons & yordles & idk other jazz
Kinda late for that now. I mean, Lulu and Teemo being in established factions makes it even unlikely we'll get Bandle City.
Kindred will be a neutral champion and it could be played within any combination of regions and that sounds sick
I really wish we would get more information on the Blessed Isles. What happened to turn them? What about its people? Are any potential survivors still in Runeterra?
I thought it is implied that these creatures are coming through to the real world from the nightmare realm?
8:10 I have a strange feeling about he : what if bcs of nocturn influence he will travel to fossbarrow and actualy free nocturn....
I mean... imagine you are the embodiment of death. Wouldn't the shadow isles be a place where you had to... work a lot?
Every Necrit Video is like an early Christmas present
I like the connection riot manages to do
I think since the cards that came with nocturne has a more Orange lights kind of gave it more of a different feel like it was spooky Demacia instead of green shadow isles
The shadow isles is the Brazil of Runeterra
Maybe noc just was a lesser demon arond the blessed isles when the ruination happened, a lot of fear to feed from and bam, the fear of an entire nation of powerful mages made him what he is, I wouldn't put this explanation beyond riot
What if Nocturne is Just a Shadow of Zed
It makes sense that nocturne is in the shadow isles there isn't much people are more afraid of than the shadow isles
kinna hope we get the SI version of kindred. like how Spiritblossom is the ionian version. would be a cool way to show us one of their other interpretations
I mean the creatures connected to nocturne are just like the shadows he spawned in the story that Garen fought while Lux went to deal with the kid at the end of the story they arnt real creatures.
Omg I screamed!!! I didnt know spoiler champ was coming 😯 just as I returned to this game yay
Quick theory: I think Nocturne's followers are just different versions of Nocturne himself, nightmarish forms he takes to adapt to his prey (mostly because they don't fit the usual Green/blue theme of the Iles, but rather the black smoky armored esthetic of Nocturne)
Also I think Tommens is the one appearing in most of the cards, the one with the Mustache who's being stalked by Nocturne until he kills him, and then he becomes the peaky specter haunting his old companions (the ones sitting with him in Nocturne's leveled up version)
So in the end I think Tommens left from Fossbarrow (to explore the Shadow Iles or something) with Nocturne leaching onto him, then because of the horrors of the Iles the demon started taking different shapes and ended up killing him turning him into a Specter
Let me know what you think!😁
The more I watch the more I want to raid the vault in a mmo
Poros are literally a universal creature in LOR!
Nocture was in demacia, thats why he's disturbed by a fact that nocturne is in shadow isles.
The shadow isles is more like a dungeon that have many power relic everyone want
Last time I was this early nocturne was in piltover
Bruh 😭
Becouse it's the furthest away from the real fear. Demacia is pretty distant
