"This is the end. As it was foretold -- as I promised. Sisters... forgive me." ~Lisandra (Watcher card) This quote and whole card hit me strangely and make me stop for a while before I moved on to see the rest of Freljord cards.
Maybe they give up their lives to help Lissandra hold the watcher back. The ''As it was foretold- as I promised.'' is an interesting quote itself. This quote is like it was meant to happen that way. Like it was written long before runeterra even exist.

That is actually a really nice theory. It could be that when the pale man split himself in two, his two sides of his body laid down on the ground and mask mother came and put lamb mask on one and wolf mask on the other
Maybe when the pale man/grey man split himself in two, that when the mask mother appear and gave the maskes to the two half and shaped their form into the lamb and the wolf.
Maybe. That would make sense why it's called ''The mother''. Cause we know for sure she didn't give life to kindred, but she formed them as we know now.
I think the reason why the mask mother is called mother, even by kindred, is maybe the mask mother forged the masks kindred uses, allowing them to take on a physical form.

Missing a key thing here, Balestriders and what not WERE the watchers, they were originally designed to be the watchers / they were the original concept arts for them. Riot has since tried to retcon this which is why the connections between everything are wonky. Personally I'm settling on balestriders being a creature that the watchers turned into void creatures and Lissandra had encounters with the balestriders that led to her coming into contact with the watchers and then it unfolds from there. That's really the only way it's going to make sense and it adds up considering the watchers normally scouted regions of runeterra and had void creatures there PRIOR to actually attempting to manifest.
i just realize something. Since the watcher are constantly dreaming and learning about humans because of Lissandra, then that means there is a possibility that one day, when the watcher breaks free, they can take a human form.
Can we also not forget that the Howling Abyss map (released back in 2013) depicts the head/face of a watcher at red side fountain. How cool is that?!?!
I wanted to say something about the concept of the Mask Mother. While I do agree that she isn't the actual mother of Kindred (and that her name is most likely Mother), that doesn't mean that she isn't a motherly figure to Kindred. After all, when the Grey Man split himself in two I could see the Mask Mother finding the both of them and making two different and special masks for the both of them and would actually give them an idea of what they are and what could be their purpose or something like that. Also there is the possibility that they meet each other every once and a while and catch up on what they have been doing. After all we don't actually know how old the Mask Mother is and her significance could be that she is one of the oldest denizens from the Spirit Realm, and is basically a motherly figure to all of the spirits that dwell in the spirit realm. Though, I might be wrong cause this is definitely a knew concept of what is going on with Kindred and the fact that she isn't actually alone in the place where life and death meet.

Of course, only the actual numbers will say anything, but I'm pretty sure that while it may not get WoW numbers, it will at least have a pretty solid playerbase (akin to FF14).
The watcher's design and the aggressive adaptive nature of the void makes me think it is part of Lissandra's level up requirement. If the watcher's had a way to observe the world through Lissandra or her minions particularly the powerful 8+ cost beings that Lissandra assembles to level up then it would give the watcher's the inspiration they need to morph themselves into powerful adapted beings. 8+ cost beings in legends of runterra typically have massive bodies, humanoid shapes, immense physical or magical capabilities. All the watcher's did is observe the best of the Runeterra's best (2-3 8+ cost units) and smash their designs all together to create an ultimate form. Much easier if they were able to observe what Lissandra is mustering to eventually fight them.
I think the Watcher card is the future. in the description Lissandra is apologizing to her sisters for not being able to keep him at bay and now is breaching through the abyss.
I have a theory on the Watcher's physical form. Since we know they have no bodies in the void, maybe when they entered reality they possessed a human body and molded it to suit them. It would explain the face and the arms and even the horns if it was just the remnant of a Draklorn helmet.
3:00 Maybe a bit late, but I have another theory for the etherfiend: I do not believe it is another incarnation of Kindred/death, but the incarnation of being forgotten/forgetting. It has a quote from a person that questions what he becomes after his "second death", second death being being forgotten and also casts the spell "second death" onto a target. So the etherfiend therefore is not a direct incarnation of Kindred, as Kindred is the incarnation of death, but the etherfiend is the incarantion of the second death. So after someone is killed my Kindred, their next death awaits them in the afterlife, where the etherfiend prays on those who are being forgotten over time, such as the fading icon. The fading icon was the god of death for the baccai, ascended and Darkin, but all of these creatures are immortal and forgot that death even exists, hence the icon being a "fading" icon. That also explains why the ethherfiend killed the fading icon: it was finally forgotten and therefore died it's second death. Also, the etherfiend is pretty much as powerful - or even more powerful - as kindred is: Kindred is the god of death and can therefore never be forgotten, unless everyone is either dead or immortal. And if everyone has forgotten death, even Kindred will fall pray to the etherfiend. The etherfiend itself should be immortal, as forgetting can never be forgotten. But eventually, it will die with the death of the last entity in the entire world; being the universe including the spirit realm and all the celestials. So you could say the etherfiend is somewhat the most powerful being in existence as it will even kill aurelion sol and even maybe the Watchers?? (okay, the last one is maybe a bit farfetched, but it might be true, depending on the future lore of the void)
I think that the watcher card maybe is referring to a dream, a thought of what he could do if he is released. I stand for this because they are gathering information from different people, and dreaming on how to finally destroy the annoying light
Ok, i´m a very Lore crazy person, and i have to say the way you talk about the storys and the whole conection between the cards and stuff i love it.... i have your vids running in the background no matter what i do ... keep it up...

Personally I really enjoy the tiny face on a monster head. It's like Armityle The Chaos Phantasm from Yu-Gi-Oh, where on top of the creature's main head you habe a smaller humanoid face and it's a design which appears in other monster designs in other media as well. Idk why but I really love that choice of design
This was a good video. The clarification in the beginning is very much appreciated. I just wanna chip in cuz I was really curious about the where did the horns thing start. I would assume it started with the watchers because lissandra got her power from them and it makes sense that her inspired power would reflect the original. Since you brought up that the striders we see are already controlled by lissandra you can tell that their horns seem frozen and not flesh, similar to the thralls. However this is only an opinion, maybe the watchers really are just copy cats by nature. But it's kinda silly to say that the watchers copied the original striders and lissandra copied the watchers copying the striders don't ya think hahaha. Great video, thanks for the information.
But a Rioter confirm that fading icon is a god of death for shurima... The baccai know him but because they are almost imortall they forget about death and the god of death they know is forgotten
ITS VERY CLEAR riot is deriving a lot of inspiration from HP Lovecraft; specifically, azethoths dream with the watchers and eldritch horror appearances
13:49 but lissandra started gathering her army after sealing the watchers to keep them sealed right? the soldiers or whatever in the image clearly have draklorn helmets. doesn't that mean this has to be in the future?
I think the horned ice helmets are liss's mind control catalysts, even on the balestriders, and the face is an empowering sigil on the helmets made for the watchers to overcome their power
I can't help but think that maybe the Mask Mother DID create Kindred after all. It is highly possible that the Grey Man actually did cut himself in half and the mask mother put a mask on either half (A Lamb and Wolf mask, duh). This could have split the grey mans spirit in half as well to form what we now know as Kindred. BIIIIIIIIIG speculation, but I could see it making sense and would explain why Kindred referred to the Mask Mother as 'Mother' beyond that simply being her name. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this Necrit.
Considering the Watchers are older than reality itself, would Aurelion Sol be able to stand up to them? Considering he is the Star Forger, I reckon that he has plenty of reason to be in the theoretical battle that would take place should the Watchers awaken.
About the Watcher: as you can see he is on one of the bridges above the Abyss and is destroying 2nd one. Those bridges were created AFTER Watchers were sealed there so it's not really possible for this card to represent tge past IMO.
I think that watcher is something that will happen in the future - if you see at the left side of the picture - the watcher atempted to hold on to the abyss bridge ( aram map ) and it crumbled down as the watcher was rising !
It would be so cool if a character was made that lissandra tryed to brain wash but they got away and then they could have half there face covered in black ice and arm
Oh the Watchers sound a lot like the Eldrazi from Magic: the Gathering and I've always Loved the idea of these kind of... beings before all creation... type stories 😍🤩
The Kindred-Intro really made me sad. Yesterday, after watching your video, I typed a long comment, theorizing *exactly* what the voicelines (which I had not heard) confirmed.... And then I deleted the comment, because I felt like it was kinda an insult to your theory.
Noooo, don't think like that. Having your own opinion or thought or theory is perfectly fine, and sharing that is perfectly fine and encouraged! It wouldn't have been insulting at all, and I think Necrit WANTS other theories and thoughts from people for more discussion and whatnot. It's all in good fun.

It feels like the term 'god of death' is being used in a way similar to the japanese shinigami (often translated as god of death), meaning more a spiritual being responsible for all deathly affairs but not necessarily an an all powerful god as the word makes us first imagine.
Funny idea i had : the face is one of a iceborn, as his body and power is used as a conduit for the watcher to arrive and form their body. Basically, ice and void possesion, because only the iceborn can wield true ice
I think the head might be to give the watcher more senses, like smell, and we don’t know how the main eye sees, it could see like humans do, but what if it’s more like a sense thing. The head could the be giving sight to. And maybe even hearing.
imo... the best mmos are faction based (or realm vs realm as some people call it.) So having an evil playable faction is still a decent game design choice. The obvious choice for playable factions are Noxus and Demacia, but there could be more than two factions.
18:49 A bit late on the party, but what if this is not a picture of the watchers foretold by bard, but a picture of the ancient balestriders when they were roaming valoran and before they were corrupted by the watchers? or let's get even more meta: what if this is a picture of a Watcher who mimics the very first appearance of a Balestrider before it's corruption?

So the Watchers just want to go back to bed. I can respect that.
I absolutely adore your videos on the watchers and the void. By far my favourite lore
Ok, i´m a very Lore crazy person, and i have to say the way you talk about the storys and the whole conection between the cards and stuff i love it.... i have your vids running in the background no matter what i do ... keep it up...
Me at 2 AM watching this: "I don't need sleep. I need answers."
So pretty much I like to listen to Necrit while falling asleep (not weird I hope)
So let's do the maths: I sleep every day; Necrit doesn't upload daily;
Please do daily uploads Necrit I need it🙏🙏
lol necrit do this man a favour
Imagine this as a game like elderscrolls with massive explorable places. Can't wait.
“Let’s see what madness lissandra brought in”
“THE ALL NEW PELOTON TREAD”
Thank you ads
Personally I really enjoy the tiny face on a monster head. It's like Armityle The Chaos Phantasm from Yu-Gi-Oh, where on top of the creature's main head you habe a smaller humanoid face and it's a design which appears in other monster designs in other media as well. Idk why but I really love that choice of design
Maybe Olaf has his curse of a peaceful death because he's gonna do the ultimate hunt, slay a watcher
"I burn in a basin of fire, watchers look on as they dance in their merciless sky
Watching me, watching you...watching me"
This was a good video.
13:49 but lissandra started gathering her army after sealing the watchers to keep them sealed right? the soldiers or whatever in the image clearly have draklorn helmets. doesn't that mean this has to be in the future?
what if even before the warriors already had those helmets
The watchers crown is a mind control device!!!!! That's why it's on her thrall and why it's not the watcher she summons when she levels up
I know how a watcher feels about runeterra.I too get pissed at my alarm when it wakes me up.
We need a watcher champion that tries really hard to be human
"Let me super quickly sum up what's the deal with them...
At the very beginning of time-"
Considering the Watchers are older than reality itself, would Aurelion Sol be able to stand up to them? Considering he is the Star Forger, I reckon that he has plenty of reason to be in the theoretical battle that would take place should the Watchers awaken.
The watcher has arms
Vastaya have arms
*Watchers are vastayas confirmed*
It's great that you make it clear what is a theory and what is canon. Idk what some people are complaining about
I'm glad you hear our opinion to hear the card interaction, but i think we must wait skinspotlight to see all the interaction
It's funny that the main antagonists of runeterra are eepy eldritch beings who are just trying to switch off the light
About the Watcher: as you can see he is on one of the bridges above the Abyss and is destroying 2nd one. Those bridges were created AFTER Watchers were sealed there so it's not really possible for this card to represent tge past IMO.
Yoooo this makes sense
I think that watcher is something that will happen in the future - if you see at the left side of the picture - the watcher atempted to hold on to the abyss bridge ( aram map ) and it crumbled down as the watcher was rising !
You know it's a good day when the minute your classes end, Necrit posts a video looking like this
What a good time to be a long lore fan of league of legends.
"all they wanted to do is sleep"
Man no wonder the void is my favorite region
Well, well, well. Look where we’ve found ourselves at again so soon.
In this Watcher escaping Lysandras spell there is a winterclaw soldier, so I guess its an actual event which commes after the viego storyline
They have arms to give hugs
Imagine the watcher's eye turning red as it becomes angry. It'd be cool
Nekrit. Please sort your lore playlist by oldest to newest. I'm getting carpel tunnel from moving these videos into a playlist of my own to do just that... your making binging your videos REALLY hard here XD
He needs arms, how else is he gonna use his eye drops?
the watcher description, it is chilling
2:50 Oh,! That’s why the eatherfiend is modeled after a vulture!
Without arms, how else would they default dance over the corpses of their enemies?
Lissandra in Lore: I need help killing these creatures with eyeballs and save this land
Lissandra in-game: "I will freeze you" "I will put you in the freezer" "I will make the world only have winter" "after putting you in the freezer I will cook you"
Well, even if she's a bad lady or a good lady I think she's cool
No pun intended
I kinda wish that the striders are just mutant poros.
What would a void born poro even look like
we will see when we got void as a faction in lor
The Balestriders kinda look like the new "Towering Stonehorn" from the newest expansion but in cold :D
It's kind of funny to see Necrit descending into madness at the end there talking about The Watchers, you can hear the confusion in his voice.
Maybe you could make a video on what the watchers true goals are and how their actions fit into their greater goals
Isn't the watchers true goal is to destroy the physical realm so that they can go back to sleep?
imo... the best mmos are faction based (or realm vs realm as some people call it.) So having an evil playable faction is still a decent game design choice. The obvious choice for playable factions are Noxus and Demacia, but there could be more than two factions.
I'm way behind on the exciting lore of LoL and so lucky to have Necrit videos for help.
But one thing is for sure, Aurelion sol would not stand idly by while the void consumes the universe.
Watchers are pretty massive for creatures that literally hate matter and mass itself
I think that the shape of Lissandra's crown was designed with the idea of "three sisters". It looks like a triangle.
The watcher has arms to point at the hour and minutes
now we have an answer why the watcher is shaped like it is here. love lore!
yo this is totally the future when a Watcher breaks out. Next LoL event.
just toss in vayne she deals true% damage, gib her guinsoo and 3 autos, no problem.
@@etherealcat4447 so the watcher starts imitating that? nope
@@etherealcat4447 bruh what the XD you are right thou
