This timeless Christmas classic was penned by The Reverend Father Joseph Moore,an Austrian priest from Melk,Austria. The tune was composed by Dr. Franz Gruber the night it was written on a six string guitar. The church’s pipe organ was in need of repair and was unplayable at the time. Seven weeks later following repairs to the organ,Dr. Gruber played this soothing and beautiful melody on the now fully playable organ. Father Moore wept openly at its simplicity and beauty. The Blessed one who would die on the cross for every person. Oh what a great Savior He is! Oh come let us adore Him, Christ Jesus our Lord! Praise Him and worship our blessed Redeemer!
Every year at Christmas and at the end of the year, whenever I listen to this music, I am deeply impressed whether it is Christian or not. It has already become a masterpiece for everyone on earth.
I go as i feel am I not one with God? Do you understand the mind of the creator? Do you understand my sins? Can you see when my heart elevates to GOD can you see when he receives my sacrifice? Do understand the value he gives my tears?
I don’t care if this is a “Christmas song” I listen to this year round and it always brings a tear to my eye, missing the times we would all gather around the tree and genuinely have a good time. I miss that but this song will always remind me of it, thank Andre for this. ❤

I am often moved to tears when I hear this simple melody performed with reverence and from the heart as it is in this moving rendition by Andre Rieu and company. The look on the maestro's face as he plays the most beautiful Christmas carol of all tells me he believes in what Christmas is truly about. He plays as if he is offering the music as a prayer to God Almighty. Silent Night moves me to tears, especially such a beautiful version as this. God Bless Andre Rieu and company.
On Christmas Eve, 1914 in West France, WWI was still raging on, British and German soldiers locked in trench warfare, firing artillery and gunfire, but upon that night, both sides cease fire and the silence was broken by a man singing in the German trench. the rest of the German soldiers sung with him and the British join in. That song was Silent night. sung in both English and German in union. The following morning on Christmas day, they were preparing to attack each other again but General Fritz of the German forces emerged from the trench waving his arms, soon the soldiers followed with him. and soon British forces emerged from the trenches and meet their enemies in the middle of no man's land. They shook hands, greeting each other, giving each other food, alcohol, cigarettes and they played Soccer/football with germans winning. They all hung out and talked, cutting up and console each other like brothers. Unfortunately it didn't last.. later that night, the fighting resumed, some of those soldiers who met each other, ended up killing each other.
This will be the first Christmas without my beloved cast member who passed away in 2022 rest in peace this Christmas season we keep the memories of all our loved ones who have gone before us may they rest in peace 🪦.
Our beloved Mother, Rita Sarah (Mohr) Hepler, always loved to watch/ listen to Maestro Rieu on PBS. In her 90’s, while I was caring for her, we would watch together. She was still completely lucid and absolutely loved the masterful performances. Mom was a Mohr. We always believed somehow a distant relative of Father Joseph Mohr, who wrote Silent Night. Her Birthday just preceded Christmas every year. Given all this, CHRISTmas and Silent Night were always incredibly special to our family. Mom has gone off now to be with Fr. Joseph and all our Mohr ancestors in Heaven, but hearing this makes me feel so close to her again. Sleep in Heavenly Peace...

I teared up a little watching this. Its sad how as we grow and move on with our lives we forget where it started from and the best things about life in the first place. It's such a beautiful, daunting, melancholic, nostalgic feeling watching and listening to this. Thia reminds me of Christmas during my childhood. Of colder weather, xmas light, jubilance, purchasing gifts, going out in the town, holding my parents hands, being dazzled by the xmas lights, hearing all the xmas carols, being neighborly and kind, and everything good about Christmas. We just dont have holidays like this anymore. Somewhere along it has lost it way, or maybe we have. In any case, thank you for this, Mr. Rieu. It was very much needed.

Silent Night is my favorite Christmas Carol and it certainly is the one that moves me the most and sums up Christmas best. As usual, Andre and his orchestra have done a superb job of performing the carol. He and his orchestra do the same for every other piece of music they play and one day before too long I hope to go to Maastricht to see Andre Preu and his orchestra play - I know it will be such an enjoyable and pleasurable experience to see music so beautifully performed.

This was my late father's favorite Christmas song. The song silent night was originally a poem written after a minister went for a walk and saw a baby sleeping peacefully in its mother's arms. I maybe a father not a mother but I remember holding my two daughters as newborns sleeping in my arms thinking this is the most beautiful and pure thing I've ever seen

At the age of 11, I went to choir. It was one of the best things of my life. I loved singing. A year and a half later, before the Christmas concert, my parents took me out of choir. I was devasted. This was one of the songs I was supposed to sing and it make me cry every time I listen to it

Therefore, woe to all who celebrate this detestable holiday of men! Woe, I say to you! And three times woe, to all who do so in MY name! Hypocrites! Workers of idolatry! You are a perverse people who do always take the name of The Lord in vain! Yet I hear you saying, “But we only seek to honor You, Lord, in any and all ways.” Yet I ask you, how can we be one if your heart belongs to another?[5] And how does reveling in those things I hate honor Me? I tell you the truth, all who love this world more than Me are not worthy of Me! And all who honor the ways of the harlot dishonor Me and shall share in her judgment! And ALL, who revel in the ways of the pagan, have cast their lot with satan! Or have you never read these Scriptures: You can not drink the cup of The Lord and the cup of demons; you can not partake of The Lord’s table and of the table of demons?![6]
Indeed, what do all these things have to do with Me? Why do you decorate the tree? Is it not beautiful as it is? And why do you decorate your house? A household, which seeks to honor Me, has no need of worldly decorations. For in humility, set apart, shall you shine forth. And why do you give worldly gifts in My name? Am I not The Gift, He who ascended on high, He who led captivity captive and gave gifts to men?[7] Therefore receive of Me, of all I offer, and be separate. For in following My ways do you give gifts to Me and to each other, even to all those around you, for the gifts I bring endure forever.
Therefore, again I ask you, what matter these things of the world and men, which shall soon pass away? Yet you say, “All these things are a metaphor and a testament to You, Lord.” Yet I tell you, anything which comes from sin is sin; do not do it! Tear down all these whitewashed walls of abomination, and do only as The Word of God instructs! For the season of giving is each and every day, and the season of love is every day, every hour, every minute, every moment of your life lived in Me. So then, share My gifts and withhold not; lift up the poor in spirit and feed the hungry, help the needy and comfort the sick, doing so in My name. Yet do not do as the pagans do, for this is sin. Be completely separate and shun these perverse holidays of men; stop breaking My Commandments!
You wish to celebrate My name and My earthly birth, do so; yea, bring glory to My name by your obedience, set apart. You wish to enjoy festivals with your family, do so; I have given you seven.[8] And in these seven is wisdom and understanding, the very mind of God, revelation beyond words, the will of God made manifest. Yet no more do as the pagans and false teachers would have you do. Cast off this holiday; throw away your tree and lights, rid your house of all decorations, turn away from these filthy traditions. Honor Me as I truly am, obey the Scriptures, and turn away from the commandments of men.[9]

The look on the maestro's face as he plays the most beautiful Christmas carol of all tells me he believes in what Christmas is truly about. He plays as if he is offering the music as a prayer to God Almighty. Silent Night moves me to tears, especially such a beautiful version as this. God Bless Andre Rieu and company.
On Christmas Eve, 1914 in West France, WWI was still raging on, British and German soldiers locked in trench warfare, firing artillery and gunfire, but upon that night, both sides cease fire and the silence was broken by a man singing in the German trench. the rest of the German soldiers sung with him and the British join in. That song was Silent night. sung in both English and German in union. The following morning on Christmas day, they were preparing to attack each other again but General Fritz of the German forces emerged from the trench waving his arms, soon the soldiers followed with him. and soon British forces emerged from the trenches and meet their enemies in the middle of no man's land. They shook hands, greeting each other, giving each other food, alcohol, cigarettes and they played Soccer/football with germans winning. They all hung out and talked, cutting up and console each other like brothers. Unfortunately it didn't last.. later that night, the fighting resumed, some of those soldiers who met each other, ended up killing each other.

This will be the first Christmas without my beloved cast member who passed away in 2022 rest in peace this Christmas season we keep the memories of all our loved ones who have gone before us may they rest in peace 🪦.
Our beloved Mother, Rita Sarah (Mohr) Hepler, always loved to watch/ listen to Maestro Rieu on PBS. In her 90’s, while I was caring for her, we would watch together. She was still completely lucid and absolutely loved the masterful performances.
Mom was a Mohr. We always believed somehow a distant relative of Father Joseph Mohr, who wrote Silent Night. Her Birthday just preceded Christmas every year. Given all this, CHRISTmas and Silent Night were always incredibly special to our family.
Mom has gone off now to be with Fr. Joseph and all our Mohr ancestors in Heaven, but hearing this makes me feel so close to her again.

I teared up a little watching this. Its sad how as we grow and move on with our lives we forget where it started from and the best things about life in the first place. It's such a beautiful, daunting, melancholic, nostalgic feeling watching and listening to this. Thia reminds me of Christmas during my childhood. Of colder weather, xmas light, jubilance, purchasing gifts, going out in the town, holding my parents hands, being dazzled by the xmas lights, hearing all the xmas carols, being neighborly and kind, and everything good about Christmas. We just dont have holidays like this anymore. Somewhere along it has lost it way, or maybe we have. In any case, thank you for this, Mr. Rieu. It was very much needed.

Silent Night is my favorite Christmas Carol and it certainly is the one that moves me the most and sums up Christmas best. As usual, Andre and his orchestra have done a superb job of performing the carol. He and his orchestra do the same for every other piece of music they play and one day before too long I hope to go to Maastricht to see Andre Preu and his orchestra play - I know it will be such an enjoyable and pleasurable experience to see music so beautifully performed.

This was my late father's favorite Christmas song. The song silent night was originally a poem written after a minister went for a walk and saw a baby sleeping peacefully in its mother's arms. At the age of 11, I went to choir. It was one of the best things of my life. I loved singing. A year and a half later, before the Christmas concert, my parents took me out of choir. I was devasted. This was one of the songs I was supposed to sing and it make me cry every time I listen to it
